Can we automatically add sample lines at vertical curve points (e.g. BC, EC, Bottom of curve) ?I need to show the sections at these vertical curve key points.
I am using C3D 2011 but could not find that option when creating sample lines in a station range.
how do I make straight lines? Horizontal Lines? Vertical Lines? Curvs? I read many tutorials and i am afraid that I am doing it the wrong way, my way is to drag a guide to where i want the line to be at and trace the guide with the brush tool...

View 8 Replies View RelatedI noticed when you put in vertical parabolic curves onto the profile tangents it will ask you if you want length or k.
however depend on which one you specify. it will hold on to that value when it comes to changing the tangent locations. for what i am doing now i want k by default. but accidentally i put in length because i just went through all the pi's quickly to put in the curves. but i see no control which allows you to control which type to hold. this is a property inside the vertical curve but it's not exposed to user. once you create by length that's it. until you delete the curve and re enter using k then it will hold k.
I have a profile that has a 25' VC (please see attached jpeg) and want to put my PVI Station and Elevation but it doesnt fit in 40 scale (I need it to be in 40 scale). Is there a way I can only change the style for small vertical curves without changing my other styles?

My alignment begins at 0+00.
In the Create Sample Lines - By Station Range I set the From Alignment Start?end both to false and set the start and end stations as 0+58 and 20+58 respectively. The 0+58 sample line plots at 0+58 but the rest of the sample lines plot at even 50' stations (1+00, 1+50...).

But how can I put these values (left width and right width) for a new sample line?Sample line class doesn't have "left width" or "right width" property ¿? Do I have to create a new vertex? However I think that I can´t add new vertex in vertex collection.
i have an issue in with my created sheets that does not show vertical alignment data. everything on the bands shows up nicely but the lines, curves and labels profile are missin.
see the attached image. you can notice from the image that there is no a signle data..
How or if you can add sample lines to a specified group? I created a group only to realize that there are some specific stations I need. I do not want to re-create the group and re-assign the materials nor reproduce my volume reports. I just want the section plotted on my sheets.

Im trying to place sample lines along a very sinuous alignment and about a third of the way down all of a sudden the little tracking marker jumps to what seems like thousands of kilometers away and starts tracking along some invisible alignment which does not exist?
I have tried everything I can think of from every type of sample line creation option to recreating the alignment and auditing the drawing. Nothing I do creates different results. Is this an alignment issue and being cause by all the tight bends?
I need to create points with surface elevations along sample lines. The points need to represent the verticies one would see in the section editor. I've attached an image of my section editor for one of my sample lines. I need to create points that represent these 24 verticies along this sample line and do so for the rest of my sample lines as well. Is there an automated process to create these points?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI wanna interpolate points from surface but only in that area where my sample lines intersecting with the surface. There is a point creation tool that makes this based on polylines but I have to many data and it will get to much time to do this. So, for better understanding I attached some pictures, in the first picture it is shown the final result which I have made based on polylines, but here is also a problem, the tool is not putting points where the surface is changing ( on my second picture I highlighted with red circles).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI created sample lines and section views for my road projects. I set all line works to appropriate layers except for "Segment and Points". Cannot change from layer "0".
I right click the existing grade on my section views, click "edit section style", click "display", then change the layer of Segments and points and click "OK", "apply".
Go back to my drawing, verify the layer but still layer "0". I tried so many times, read the manual, call friends but no luck. I am tempted to "explode" my drawing.
recommend a good way to indicate the location of cross section sample lines in a profile view (of same alignment) as vertical lines? the sample lines have been created at user defined locations from polylines, and do not follow a particular station order. my first thought was to use transparent command to draw line in profile view using station from plan view, but i have in excess of 100 cross sections, and that may be time consuming.

I am used to drafting surveys using Eagle Point Coordinate Geometry & Boundary Survey & I am now moving over to C3D, & I am trying to reproduce a boundary survey in C3D 2010, when it comes to Tangent & Non Tangent curves there does not appear to be any routine that allows you to create them in logical sequence or otherwise from the geometrical info provided on paper maps i.e. Radius, Delta Angle & Length, are there any survey techs on here that have been able to resolve this issue?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a profile view of a street surface which transitions from a 2.75% grade to -0.52%. I would like to add a vertical curve so I can add a label at the high point of the street. However when I create my vertical curve, the original PVI is still there and the surface uses the PVI's elevation rather than the vertical curve's.
How can I get the PVI to either go away or have the surface read the vertical curve below the PVI?
I always draw a polyline to define my alignments. When selecting the polyline for the alignment, in the Create Alignment from Objects box, at the bottom, the default is to "Add curves between tangents". Where do I turn that off so default in NO.

I'm uploading the .dwg and .txt files. I'm trying to get volume calcs cut and fill between two surfaces and when I compare the data between AGTEK's Highway 3D there is different results. I looked into it to find these random line appearing in Autocad making what seems to be the problem. Where are these coming from and how do I fix? Also, if you could anwser how can I insert a sectional following the 12'-23' offsets and dropping 1.16' down and adding it to my design surface. I want to make a big box there added to design surface.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen creating Feature Lines, I wanted them to be e.g. Step Line 1, Step Line 2, Step Line 3 etc so I amended the name template to suit. I created multiple from objects and the naming convention worked. If I did features individually (as I wanted certain ones in certain sites) it worked for the first feature but reverted back to the default Feature line name on subsequent entry to the dialog i.e. it had "forgotten" the template name just set.
Am I missing something to get this to work correctly or is this how it's supposed to work i.e. useless for individual feature line creation?? This also happens for gradings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am looking for a quick way to align vertical pairs of lines that are unequal distance apart and sometimes unequal length so that midpoint between lines are aligned. Right now I draw horizontal lines between each set and use a vertical line from one of these to align the other pairs (red lines on example).
If there is no easy way already incorporated in AC then my thought is a button that will draw lines on a specified layer other than the current layer and in a specified color, and another button to delete everything on that specified layer.
I seem to be having a few issues with Wipeout's and PDF's. When I PDF a drawing that contains a Wipeout, when printed, the Wipeout becomes a mass of vertical lines, and as such has the opposite effect of what I am after.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am working on a horizontal directional drill with multiple survey points.
The survey points make up (what looks like an upside down dome) and they are all connected with polylines. I need to add straight vertical lines to each point. Of course I can do this manually, but I'm wondering if there's a way to automate it. I've tried Lee's point manager, but it seems the problem is there's no option for xstart, xend, and ystart, yend. I also tried created a block out of a line then importing that on the points with point manager, but I need all of the lines to end at the same position at the top. This doesnt work because as you can see the points aren't all equal from the bottom. I also cannot find a way to trim blocks. I was hoping blocks would have the same xstart and xend, etc. as a line, but they don't.
Many times I see that these types of irregular shapes which comprise of spline curve are created with very less or no dimensions, so I want to know how this spline curve was created and can be controlled, if I want to create it in an exact manner what dimension I should use ?
