I am creating P&P sheets for my road. I created view frames, and when I got to create sheets, I pick "all layouts in new drawing". I go to open the new drawing up, but all that shows up/tranfers is the profile and alignment, nothing else comes over ( proposed linework, existing linework, etc.)??????
I created plan and profile sheets using the P&P tools. Then I created a new drawing and attached (XREF) the dwg with the viewframes in it. Then I set the viewframe layer to Plot instead of non-plot and I changed the color so that it would be heavy (we use CTB).
Then when I went to my PSPACE layout to try and plot, the viewframes are NOT there. The layer IS turned on, because there's a PLINE that I drew on that layer and it DOES show up. When in modelspace, the viewframes are there and the color did change as expected.
So why do they disappear when I'm on the layout tab?
The goal is to create a plottable sheet that identifies where each sheet is (I want to point to each viewframe and lable them C-101, C-102 etc).
After I create cross section sheets (Output---> generate cross section), the generated sections do not fit in the sheet exactly. In fact, the generated layouts do not cover the sections correctly, and some sections fall outside the created sheet.
It should be noted that I use the "ISO A1 Section 1 to 500" layout which is installed on the default pass of C3D (template folder), and the scale of "view section style" is set to 1/500. I tried the scale of the drawing (toolspace window---> setting tab---> rigth click on the name of drawing and click edit drawing setting) with 1/500, however the problem was not solved.
Another important issue is that the section views in the "Model space" are shown correctly, but my problem is in the layout space after generating cross sections.
I am running civil 3D 2014 and have several lisp file that I have added to my startup suite. I am creating layout tabs for plan and profile sheets and use my lisps continuously and then all of the sudden it tell me that it's an "unknown command". I have closed the program and reopened the drawing an I realized that my start up suite is now empty.
When creating cross section views ("Home>Section Views>Create Multiple Views"), my sections are being placed at the exact boundary of the viewport (viewport is per my template).
Surely there's a way to create a margin inside the viewport.
Here's a screen shot of what I'm seeing. Notice how the dotted "Plot Area Boundary line is going right thru the left axis labels and on top of the bottom axis blue line (which means the bottom axis labels will NOT be seen).
I new to using the view frame groups we do allot of double plan view 11x17 sheets using an alignment on top of MrSid aerial drawings. It is very time consuming to setup the viewports along the alignment doing the old fashion method of copying the page setup and sliding the model space along the alignment for the next sheet. I understand the plan profile and cross section methods of creating multiple sheets and how the viewframe group works for those type of sheets. I'm just not sure how to create a dwt template for one plan view on top of another plan on the same sheet with to viewports. I know I'm not the only person that creates road cl double planviews when your not concerned about a profile.
I am having difficulty in creating a surface for my road in 3d at this section, the points given are along the center lines and so far have been fairly straight forward for the fall of the road as there have been no junction up until now.
I am not using 3dpoly at this point, just plain old lines.
Road 1 displays where i am having issues and Road 2 display how it looks in 2d format (only at an angle)
So today I was creating a road centerline to make into an alignment. The road has many curves. So I was making circles and connecting them with lines while snapping from tangent to tangent. So far, so good.
Went I go to trim the circles using the lines I drew tangent to tangent, it says that there are no intersecting edges. WTF? When I zoom way in, the line is not touching the circle. Now, I know that visually that is NBD. When I run a distance check, snapping from endpoint to perpendicular, there is a measurement of zero. UGH!
So to get work done I've been having to break the circle and the 2 points, then erase the rest. This is such a PITA and I've never had anything like this happen.
P.S. I'm running Civil 3D 2013.
The top line is the circle, the bottom is the line tangent to it.
i have a road layout consisting of 3D ploylines. i want to create a surface over this layout.... i have tried but it will only seem to work on straight sections of road and not the intersections.. And i know it would be simple in civil 3d but i dont have access to that.
Is there anyway to create 1 PDF from a multi-sheet AutoCAD drawing other than merging several PDF's together. I can create a PDF of a multi-sheet Inventor drawing in one step?
running an assembly in to the road corridor and creating a surface. i have designed a network of Roads in CIVIL 3d in which whole network is surrounded by a Loop road. The loop road cross fall is unidirectional (2%) and 4.5 wide. I have used LaneOutsideSuperWithWidening subassembly to create the assembly of the road. This doesnt contain any kerb or footpath but only road channel lines, The corridor run soomthly but after creating the of the loop road corridor the surface is becoming flat meaning there isn't any cross fall acoss the road but in the assembly crossfall is there. If i run the same assembly in another road alignment the suface is coming absolutely correct.
I also tried different road assemblies to run along the loop road but the result is same no cross fall across the road.
I am working on Street Improvement Plan using Civil 3D 2012. I have my centerline stationing set for major (100') and minor (50'). My street plan is kind of busy with a several call-out/label, leader etc. I want to set my my station for both major and minor with with decimal to read as 1+00 or 1+ 50 as opposed to 1+00.00... How to get rid of the decimal points.
I have make a road network. Then i make a corridor surface using corridor extends as outside boundary. I also create a boundary in the interior side of the roads with interactively tool, and i use it as a hide boundary. The corridor surface look fine but when i am trying to make a finish Ground Surface pasting the corridor surface after Existing Ground surface then the hide boundary of corridor surface make holes in finish Ground surface.
Is this a desired behavior on a multileader? URL....
Seems to do it for anything that is not left aligned. I think it was present in 2013 as well. I use multileaders for annotations a lot since it is easier to use them with the background masks and borders than mtexts.
I am new to Civil 3D and need to customise the look of road profiles so they look like they were produced from any of our other civil design software packages that we use (to maintain standards between offices etc).
The attached picture is what I need them to look like. I want to show both the natural ground (the dotted line) and the design road line (solid). Then I want to write on the profile the station, natural level and the design level.
I've got the Mastering Civil 3D book (and a few others) sitting on my desk.I worked out how to turn off the grid on the default profile althoguh that was about it.
I have cross section data of the existing ground in the form of offset elevation. Can i draw cross sections from the this data? I am using Autocad Civil 3D.
I am preparing to model a road surface for a waterline project. I would like to be able to generate sections at desired stations showing the sewer, storm drains and joint utility trench along with the proposed water line. My plan is to model the road surface using a surface created from gradings and then create the pipe networks and joint trench.
My question is whether gradings or corridors would be the way to proceed. I have preliminary design data on the road surface which is sure to change.
when I export a road file to my TS2 it becomes corrupted (file size 50% of what it should be.
4 months ago there was no problem. The weird thing a is that the other worstation in the office has this issue to.
Here's what I have done to troubleshoot: swapped out both data collectorsexported this rxl file to a virtual instrument on my desktoptalked to cansel and autodesk but the said they haven't seen this problem. I can rule out the following.
trimble/autodesk software, hardware ( to much a coincidence that both work stations have this problem)Data Collectors swapped out - file size of the corrupted rxl were the same on the virtual deskto instrumentcorrupted dwg - exported a road six months ago, now re-exported and the new file is corrupted.
When i create an intersection, I get error - " One or more of the secondary road profiles cannot be locked at this intersection . What do you want to do ". Both of alignments and profiles is a reference from a data shortcut .
We have lucky enough to obtain LIDAR for most of our small City as well as ground only points. My problem is that profiles produced using it are rough and jagged (see attached). I've tried contour smoothing to no avail as well as point removal. Perhaps I haven't just tried enough options.
Should mention also I have breaklines along the CL alignment as well as Edge of Pavement.
how to create a label style for design center of road (simple tangent) in profile that will work between multiple profile views. I've used the 'Create Multiple Views' profile view wizard. I use a horizontal dimension style label for CL road (looks just like an autocad linear dimension). I'd like the label work across separate views i.e. stop at view end, pick back up at view start.
The label I currently use is simply a line component from tangent start dimension to tangent end dimension and the text component is anchored to the line midpoint. Label looks as intended for normal use. For some reason the line drops as if looking for the actual pvi at the right side when i use multiple views.
I went forward designing intersection profiles with limited survey and simply made an educated guess for the secondary roads pgl tie in point. I have received updated survey and when I move the profile end point to meet existing grade it adds another pvi effectively holding the profile grade I set preliminarily. I'm keeping the lock point. Is there something with the return/ offset profiles preventing this edit? What is the proper work flow?

I have a storm crossing shown on a road profile, and the ellipse that represents the storm pipe is only showing part of the inner wall (I've attached an image). This pipe is skewed slightly, but the entire pipe crosses the road alignment, and this should not make any difference.
Also, is there any way, yet, (I'm using C3D 2011) to have the label show not only the pipe name, but also the invert where the pipe crosses the road alignment, and remain dynamic,? In other words, without having to edit the label text, and lose the dynamic capability. Land Desktop would do this, but it was not dynamic, of course.
