AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Sheets - Always Have Prompted To Create New Profile Views?

But ... I already have it ....
Does C3D ask always for a new one ?

When creating cross section views ("Home>Section Views>Create Multiple Views"), my sections are being placed at the exact boundary of the viewport (viewport is per my template).
Surely there's a way to create a margin inside the viewport.
Here's a screen shot of what I'm seeing. Notice how the dotted "Plot Area Boundary line is going right thru the left axis labels and on top of the bottom axis blue line (which means the bottom axis labels will NOT be seen).
I am running civil 3D 2014 and have several lisp file that I have added to my startup suite. I am creating layout tabs for plan and profile sheets and use my lisps continuously and then all of the sudden it tell me that it's an "unknown command". I have closed the program and reopened the drawing an I realized that my start up suite is now empty.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen creating plan and profile sheets with multiple alignments in the view, what is a common practice in civil 3d?
- Data shortcut all alignments that are in the view into the plan and profile model
- Create a dwg that has all the alignments data shortcutted and xref that into the plan and profile dwg
- Create a dwg for each alignment and xref into an overall alignment dwg via attach and then xref the overall into the pp sheets dwg model.

When i am creating section sheets from multiple section views ,section sheet view port scale changes.I did set it correctly in my template.
For example it changs from 1:150 to 1:150_1
Then in section sheets scetions views are not displaying correctly.
When i change view port scale manually it shows correctly. But it should do to all sheets.
What should I do?
In model spacr multiple section views are showing correctly.

I would like to create a sheet drawing that has two plan views or two profile views on the same layout?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 profiles that I've superimposed together. Then I created sheets using the superimposed profile. I used the wizard and had Civil 3d do it for me (2012). Now I have to add a 4th profile to the mix and get it to show in my profile views that have already been cut. The data is shortcut into the drawing with my cut profiles views. How do I get it to be in the cut profile views without re cutting everything?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving a rough time with Pipe Networks! I am working an example from the Mastering C3D book (P. 371) as in the following steps:
1.Clicked SS structure(16)
2.Selected Create Alignment from Network on ribbon
3.Selected last structure(18), hit Enter
4.Changed options as needed in Create Align from Network - Create Profile and Profile View check box: Selected
5.Changed options and clicked Create Profile View
At this point the program pauses, then a dialog box trys to partially fill the screen but is all white then fades away as fast as it appeared and I'm stuck with a paperweight that beeps at me everytime I click the mouse, no panning or zooming response at this time. The command line is prompting me for the profile origin. I can switch to other apps and bring up TM and when I attempt to end C3D then it tells me that it can't because waiting for response. I can then cancel the prompt to save the drawing and C3D exits the active command and control is returned.

I'm trying to unskillfully crash my way through writing a VBA program for modifying Inventor drawing border info, and have managed through cannibalizing other programs to achieve 95% of what I wanted (ie the iproperties part).
Prompted Entries via VBA..I'd like to create a sync 'Prompted Entries' from sheet 1, across all sheets button.
The 4 prompted entry fields are always..I'd love some VBA code that could read the above 4 Prompted Entry values from Sheet:1 and then sync these values across multiple drawing sheets within one .idw file if more than one sheet was present.
i have views lets say 3 views on a sheet but in the list of views theres mores that appears maybe i inserted the extra views that are showing but i deleted them to put them on another sheet
the problem is they show up in the list of both sheet and i can't delete them from the list of the sheet that they were before
I'm having an issue when trying to create the profile sheets on my first Civil 3D project. I'm supposed to use a horizontal scale of 1/2000 and a vertical scale of 1/400. When producing the sheets, I obtain 1/500 H and 1/100 V.
View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I had to jump into the middle of a project. The Viewframes were already created but when I go to the plan and profile sheets for the viewframes the profile is not showing and I'm not sure how to choose the correct profile and display it in the corresponding plan and profile sheet.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have generated a right to left profile. I use General-create the view frames and they show right to left --good
I use General-create sheets to create the layouts in my current drawing . Rather than being from left to right, it flips my plan view upside down and aligns it on the left side. Is their a viewport setting I don't know about?
I have a low pressure sewer system that runs along a road side but is not always parallel to the road. I'm using hte centerline of the road for my alignment. What I need to do is have a profile of the existing ground above the centerline of the pressure pipes show in the plan/profile sheets. I do not need a profile of the roadway.
I'm currently using feature lines to accomplish this and that works fine in the main drawing, however, the profiles I create there don't transfer to the plan/profile sheets when I create them. The only way I have found so far to get thoe profiles to show in the plan/profile sheets is to create the feature lines in the plan/profile drawing and project those lines to my profile view. This is a fairly large system so I will have numerous plan/profile sheets. Creating the feature lines and profiles in the individual sheets is fairly time consuming.
I'm currently using Civil 3D 2012. I realize that with the addition of pressure pipe networks in 2013 might very well give me the tools I need but I'm at a point in this project, and our office, where switching to 2013 isn't really an option yet. However, if that is my answer then I will have to consider that.
I created plan and profile sheets using the P&P tools. Then I created a new drawing and attached (XREF) the dwg with the viewframes in it. Then I set the viewframe layer to Plot instead of non-plot and I changed the color so that it would be heavy (we use CTB).
Then when I went to my PSPACE layout to try and plot, the viewframes are NOT there. The layer IS turned on, because there's a PLINE that I drew on that layer and it DOES show up. When in modelspace, the viewframes are there and the color did change as expected.
So why do they disappear when I'm on the layout tab?
The goal is to create a plottable sheet that identifies where each sheet is (I want to point to each viewframe and lable them C-101, C-102 etc).
I am creating P&P sheets for my road. I created view frames, and when I got to create sheets, I pick "all layouts in new drawing". I go to open the new drawing up, but all that shows up/tranfers is the profile and alignment, nothing else comes over ( proposed linework, existing linework, etc.)??????
View 4 Replies View RelatedIm creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.
<[Profile1 Elevation(Uft|P2|RN|Sn|OF|AP)]>
<[Profile2 Elevation(Uft|P3|RN|AP|Sn|OF)]>
Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
After I create cross section sheets (Output---> generate cross section), the generated sections do not fit in the sheet exactly. In fact, the generated layouts do not cover the sections correctly, and some sections fall outside the created sheet.
It should be noted that I use the "ISO A1 Section 1 to 500" layout which is installed on the default pass of C3D (template folder), and the scale of "view section style" is set to 1/500. I tried the scale of the drawing (toolspace window---> setting tab---> rigth click on the name of drawing and click edit drawing setting) with 1/500, however the problem was not solved.
Another important issue is that the section views in the "Model space" are shown correctly, but my problem is in the layout space after generating cross sections.
In plan production, I have created the sheets (plan & profile) as a seperate drawing.
when I open the sheets, the pipe network profile labels are missing in model & paper space. (attachment 01)
I tried to on/off the annotation visibility tabs in the lower right corner (attachement 03)
Note: While creating the sheets, I select the tabs for pipe network & copy pipe network labels to destination drawings (attachment 02).
Is there anyway to have the Pipe Networks tab of the Profile View Properties dialog box default to having "Show only parts drawn in profile view" selected automatically?

I have a storm water pipe network and a sanitary pipe network. In the profile view I am displaying both networks. My question is in the profile view the storm pipes are in "front/foreground" of the sanitary pipes. Is there a way to "trim" out the sanitary pipe profile lines where they pass behind the storm sewer.
Kind of like a display order so looking at the profile I can tell which pipe and in foreground and which are in the back ground.
I have been using feature lines along buried utility locations to project these objects to section views. It works great. I created label styles, and It pops a vertical label on the section view that points toward the existing ground. I tried to use the same feature lines to project objects to profile views, and get very strange results. I do not get an option to select a label style, that field is blank, and on the profile view there is not a point where the alignment and the feature line crossed, but a line drawn all over the general area of the utility location. I have attached pdf examples of a sucessful section view and an unsuccessful profile view. I manually added the "EXISTING WATER" label so that it's easy to locate the line representing the water line.

I am trying to use the plan production feature and I've got it working pretty well except when it creates the profile view, it cuts off the data band and also makes the viewport at the very top edge of the profile, so in the viewport I can't see the data band or the top edge of the profile view.
What setting am I missing to make it show the data band?

What are some workflows people are using for creating P&P sheets?
I have a project that is 8 miles long so I created all the profile views (18) in one base map drawing using the plan production tool and then they are xrefed into my individual sheets.
I'm finding that doing a save or regen take approx. 30 seconds each time. That seems unusually slow to me.
I asked my reseller about it, and their comment was "We wouldn't recommend that many profile views in one drawing".
I assumed (maybe falsely) that if the plan production tool allowed it, then it should work.
I've been trying to use the automated plan & profile production tools with 2010, but haven't quite gotten the final product I wanted so I've resorted to manually setting up my own "viewframes" to align my viewports with. However, when I snap to either the top right of my profile view or the bottom right of my profile view, Civil 3d automatically crashes. This makes creating closed rectangular polylines to act as "viewframes" around my profile view very frustrating since at some point or another I'll forget to turn osnap off and blam!, civil3d is gone. It only happens with split profile views and it only seems to happen at the right side of the profile. It doesn't seem to happen at splits. It has happened in 2 different drawings. It has happened with different profile view styles.
Update: It only happens when Node is enabled in OSNAP so I can Node and be fine, at least until the next day I forget to disable Node while doing something near a profile.
I am doing design for a road network. For the ease of design, I designed the main roads and split the whole network into parts. Every part will contain Main Road Alignments and alignments for a respective parts only. Now I want to combine all these into one file. When I copy all alignments into one file, the surface I created earlier is duplicating and software gets hanged.

When a Station Equation is added to an alignment it causes all of the profile views to get messed up. In addition once the EG profile changes the entire FG profile may also need to be changed. See this video I uploaded to Youtube that fully explains and shows the problem: [URL] ........
So, any way to some how lock the profile views start and end stations? Or to some how lock the PVI locations on a a proposed profile to certain stations?
