I'm currently working on a project using drawings supplied by others that contain educational version stamps, I just want to make sure I'm not breaching any terms of my license by using all or part of these drawings for commercial use?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having some problems with ACA 2012 when trying to work with wall styles.
I'm currently on the final year of my IArchitecture degree, up until this point I've used AutoCAD through the AD Student Community , but I've just picked up a book on ACA and was planning to get to grips with it. However, I ran into issues within the first few pages!
When trying to apply wall styles to existing walls in my drawing, Â I get the following message:
** Canceled - Educational Plot Stamp in source drawing. **
And no wall style is applied. I can edit properties of walls in terms of height and width etc, but can't apply any styles.
I have tried several times to do a clean uninstall to remove the educational version of Civil 3D 2012 so I can install the commercial version I purchased. I have tried several times (4) to no avail. How to remove the educational watermark?
View 7 Replies View RelatedCurrently in autocad we start the print/plot command and then the command line shows options for the drawing stamp. There are several options including for approval, approved for construction, test only and others. When the appropriate number associated with the correct drawing stamp it lets you pick an insertion point and inserts the drawing stamp with a current date under the stamp to show when the drawing was plotted. After the drawing stamp is inserted it returns to the print/plot dialog.
If any IV users have a similar drawing stamp with date that is put on their drawings, I would like to hear how it was accomplished.
I have played with a sketched symbol and with ilogic can insert the symbol and start the print/plot command but I do not know how to make the stamp selection in ilogic automatic with a parameter or iproperty.
If ilogic is the way to go with this or any other options to accomplish the drawing stamp insertions with current date.
I'd like to batch plot 50 drawings, all of which have the same title block in the same position. This is easy with the PUBLISH command, but I'd like to be able to add a "stamp" of the customer logo to these drawings, which I have as a block in a separate file. Basically I want to easily be able to plot the same drawings for different customers, the only difference being the customer logo. Is this possible?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed a copy of Autodesk Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013 and am having problems with assemblies in Inventor turning into educational versions. When I was at Purdue University I used the free educational version of Autodesk Inventor. I recently uninstalled Inventor, deleted the autodesk folders in program files, program data, and my documents folders.
Then I installed this professional version. Everything works great until i use something from the content center. Once a bolt is placed in the assembly the entire assembly becomes educational when I open it again.
I have recently purchased PS CS4 upgrade and I am having a problem installing on a new machine. My CS3 serial number is not accepted. Where can I find my original CS3 serial number? pete424

Working for Local Government, we tend to utilise colour hatches to show all kinds of information.
Generally, we have found that colour hatches are a good way to clearly show different areas and materials such as pavements, paths, landscape areas etc. Hatches can then be used to quickly ascertain areas for estimation and our construction team like them too as the plans tend to be easier to read.
The usual arguments about reproduction of plans and slowing down of computers doesn't seem to be an issue for us. Most photocopiers are in colour now anyway and we just make sure that even in black & white the plans are readable.
The way that Civil 3D deals with hatching doesn't seem to slow things down for us either.
Currently using Civil 3D 2013 & 2014 SP1

Â When I attempted to do so, Autocad informed me that I cannot convert files with the student version. Â Is there anything I can to to fix this? Â Or, can she somehow convert them on her end?

What worked fine in 2010 now throws an "Error Decrypting Data" error on trying to open a drawing created with an educational version. These are student files that we are examining with an external marking program. The application can open non-educational versions without issue.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using the Autocad 2013 educational version. I have a drawing with a .ctb file. When i print, it is printing with the lines in colour. I would like the lines to print in black or grey. I assume I need to change the plotstyle to a monochrome.ctb plot style, but cannot work out how to change the plot style.
Is the plot style changed in the model or paper space of the drawing, or in the print menu?
- I have looked extensively under File/ print and can find nowhere to change a plot style.
- under File/ plot styles I can select from a list of .ctb files - but it only allows me to edit them - not apply them to the drawing.
- In the drawing under the properties inspector i can see a plot style menu and it is currently showing the option ' bycolour' when I click on the pull down options menu, there are no other options. There is also a 'plot table type; but it says this is ' not available'
-When i type plot styles in the drawing it brings up a bring s up an edit plotstyle table window, and this has a pull down menu that displays arrange of plot styles , but when I select one it only allows me to edit the plot style table and save and close. It does not actually apply it to the drawing.
I have been transferring file between 2009 and 2010 version of autodesk inventor and all have gone hell, having a lot of freezup issues. recently i have got this message what does this means

I need to change the layer that my "Produced by an Autodesk Educational Product" border is being put to. I've never had to assign it to my text layer in the past; it has always just gone there. Now it is showing up on my furniture layer and I don't know where that setting is to move it.

I have my full (24 digit) serial number, but the Upgrade dialog box will not accept the number as valid. What can I do? I paid $200 for this software and I'd like to be able to use it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI typically use GIMP 2.6. Computer crashed recently so now I've downloaded 2.8. When I download ABR files into the brushes folder, the program won't start. It wigs out and doesn't work. I copied abr files just fine into my GIMP 2.6. Why is this happening?
I even went so far as to find GIMP 2.6 on the web for download. But the same problem. There are strange 'VBR' files now that didn't used to be in my old brush folder but are suddenly there now.
(and 'gimp doesn't accept abr files' my old 2.6 accepted them JUST fine. No fancy converter or anything).
I have been using Illustrator for almost 10 years and have never run into this one. When enter a stroke weight on a line with a decimal point like .25 or 4.5 is keeps rounding the number up. For example I enter 0.75 and it makes it 1 point or I enter 5.5 and it makes it 6 point. Whether I enter the number manually or pick from the drop down (0.25, 0.5 or 0.75) it keeps rounding my strokes to even numbers.

This would allow to launch an external editor that needs more arguments than a mere filename on the command line.

Another solution would be to allow us to specify command line arguments directly when defining the external editor entry. For example, after specifying the executable, I'd like to have a field allowing to specify the command line arguments like this

-option1 -option2 <filename>Â (filename being a macro representing the current image filename).

If this field was left empty, then the default argument would be the filename as usual.

This simple feature would greatly enhance the external editing capabilities. For the moment, when I need this feature, I create a .bat file which I convert to an .exe by using a tool like Bat To Exe Converter. Then I specify this exe in the external editor entry. But it would be much more practical to specify the arguments directly in Lightroom.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAs Autodesk has not made changes that prevent excess registered application ID's from spreading from xref to sheets, I am guessing many companies have the issue and do not know it.
Its been a while since I worked with a crowd of highway designers whose attitude was AutoCad was AutoCrud (I was offended too), but I would bet the crop of people doing caltrans work is a bit new to the wild west of dwg issues.
I would encourage some of you out there to try this code on your drawing and see if you get more than say, 4000:
(vla-get-count (vla-get-registeredapplications (vla-get-activedocument (vlax-get-acad-object))))You can also run that on dwg's without opening fully in the editor, if you want to list app id counts for entire projects fast.
Simply cleaning app ids is not good enough to deal with the problem, you must discover where they come from, and catching them dirty is the best way. It alsways some consultant...never H&A though..Maybe if the Caltrans group discovers the issue, we can get movement by Autodesk on a real fix.They have done ok at cleaning tools so far, but its a big waste of time and file space. I am looking for some general feedback on where the majority of people annotate there drawings. I was in a CAD meeting discussing our new CAD standards that we will be rolling out on Jan 1, 2014. A major improvement I recommended to the plans was to place our annotations in our XREF drawings instead of placing them in model space of our sheet sets. (Our sheet sets are our drawings that have our titlblocks that we plot from ). So, I am asking where do the majority of CAD users like toad annotations to there drawings? PaperSpace, model space, xref’s, etc. and why they do it that way?
I should also state that we are transitioning from 2012 software to Civil3d 2014 software too.
I'm trying to plot drawings through DWG to PDF.pc3, it works fine & opens up.But it skips the save dialog box and automatically saves in my local setting/temp folder with alpha-numeric name.
