AutoCAD Architecture :: Files Lost When Saving To Network From A Windows 7 PC / Laptop
May 10, 2012Recently we had a user pose the inquiry regarding lost files from users when trying to save files to the network from the windows 7 computers. They would look and act like they were being saved to the mapped drive from the network but when they returned the next morning the work was gone.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Unable To Overwrite DWF File On Network Path Using Publish
Aug 31, 2011In ACA2012, we cannot use the Publish command to overwrite an existing DWF file of same name, for instance you publish a set, then need to re-publish and overwrite the earlier version. We get an error message that the DWF is currently open in another program...when it clearly is not open anywhere and Design Review is closed. We have several servers running different versions of microsoft server, but the results are the same to any of them.
We do NOT get an error message when publishing/overwriting to the C: drive, only a network path. Also, if we use the Print command instead of Publish, well it only does the current page but it DOES allow the networked DWF to be overwritten.
I am puzzled by what could be the difference in that Publish will not overwrite a networked DWF file yet Print will?
This has never happened to us in previous versions of ACA or Design Review.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Default Pipe Network Layer (Not The Structures Or Pipes The Network)
Dec 7, 2012I am using Civil 3D 2013. I work in an office where we have a few different flavors of Autocad (LT, MEP, regular vanilla AutoCAD etc...) and versions (2010 LT, 2011, 2012, 2013).
For the most part there isn't much inter-office drawing coordinate that has to happen, but there is the occasional project where multiple disciplines (Structural, Mechanical and Civil Site) have to share drawings.
The specific problem I am having is when I share my 2013 Civil 3D drawing with a user using 2011 MEP. He gets the typical rectangle for the proxy objects (in my case, my pipe networks for sanitary and storm drain). We've tried downloading and installing various object enablers, but there doesn't seem to be one for a 2013 to 2011 scenario. So I setup my parts to be on layers that he can just turn off. HOWEVER... the actual pipe network (not the structures, parts, labels etc... the network itself) ends up on layer 0. For this specific project, I do the old (ssget "x" '((8 . "0")) search to select all objects on layer 0, add those objects to a selection set (pselect), then in my modify objects dialog I filter for pipe networks, then change the layer to something other then 0.
While this is a workaround that works for me, what I really want to know is if there is a way that I can change the default layer that the network (again, not pipes, structures or text, the actual network) so I don't have to use the workaround. Any thoughts?
P.S. It's killing me that I had to create a new Autodesk login and now all my AutoCAD "street cred" is lost

Sep 12, 2013I would like to remove all the Layers with the name "PLOH*" in them, that do not have anything in the same insertion point. I have been trying to select everything in the crossing window where the point3d's are the same but this does not get them all for some reason.

Feb 9, 2012i developed a windows form based stand alone application in Vb.net 2010 that calculates all the geometry data needed for a Spur Gear ,my final goal is to send all Calculated data needed in Autocad 2012 and draw automatticly the Spur Gear.
At first i started to experiment my self with a simple only task (created a new project only for this) to draw 4 circles with the same center (radius1,2,3,4) in autocad with a simple click of the command button.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Stand Alone App With Model View Windows
Mar 4, 2013I've started working on a project but I'm a little out of practice. I need to create a standalone application, with a window to view the active model. Essentially, it'll be a viewer tool with some other minor functionality for interrogation.
Alternatively, Is there a way for me to add a viewer window to my form? Like an InventorViewWindow Control or something?I've spent the last day or so searching, but nothing really useful has surfaced.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Where To Add Wind Load On Hydraulic Cylinder Wellhead Stand
Jul 12, 2012We created a wellhead stand (top and bottom plates has od of 18" and the body has od of 16.75" thk of 0.5") and ran the stress analysis.
Because we have a cylinder attach vertically to the wellhead stand, so we added the gravity and force (40,000 lb) on the top plate.
Our question is about the wind load. We know there has a software call robot structural analysis but that is not an option yet. And we looked up other pages and knew that we can convert the wind load to pressure. Basically the wind load is on the one side of the hydraulic cylinder (around 13feet tall and od of 6") and rod (around 12 feet tall and od of 4"). But where do we add it to the wellhead stand? on the top plate (flat face) ? or the body (cylinder)?
We attached a sample part. the orange parts = hydraulic cylinder. the green part = top plate. the magenta part = body.

Aug 1, 2012I have finally decided on a monitor. My first Samsung was defective, so I returned it. I went with a Dell, which was blurry. I went back ot a Samsung because the picture quality, was, hands down, the best.
Anyway, because I've changed monitors several times, I know for certain, that I've left the "Stand Off" screws in the computer.Â
The hookup cable is definitely VGA.
There is a possibility that when you detached the old monitor you probably unscrewed the "Stand Off" screws as well.

Because of Adobe rules I am unable to do so, must upgrade complete suite! So, I thought maybe I would re-install PS4 (a stand alone unit) and upgrade to 6 from this. Question, do I need to uninstall PS5 first before re-installing PS4? And secondly can I continue to use the other products within CS5 with PS6? I think it is totally unfair of Adobe to penalize loyal customers this way. My circumstances have changed and I don't have the need to use the complete suite as much as I did in the past.
VideoStudio :: Created DVD Can't Play On Any Stand Alone Player
Dec 12, 2011Recently upgraded from X2 to X4 (via box version). Created one DVD-V and one AVCHD (with -R disc) both only play on pc but not on any stand alone dvd player with "Unknown disk" error. Using the same Pioneer burner which created playable DVD-V before by X2. Did I miss some setting in X4? Another problem is with the AVCHD disc. Laptop won't play the menu at all. Had to go to the stream file and find the video content.

Dec 27, 2012i have a few scans of documents which are 20-30 years old. Some text on this documents is written on a typewriter. Now im trying to make this text to be more clear in relation to the background.
I tried to to this using Curves and Levels. The text is getting darker as i want it, but also the background changes which is what i dont want, because if i do this on a rectangular selection it is visible. Curves is quite ok, but it still changes the background to much in my opinion. Is there a way only to make the text more black without changing the background much? Oct 1, 2011This is a notation to a photograph that my grandfather took. The photo was mounted in one of those old albums that had black paper pages. The notation was written with some kind of white colored pen.
How to get the hand written words to stand out better and be on a pretty much pure black background.
I have played around with simple contrast, brightness, etc. and some other features but not gotten the effect I would like. I might not get it but I would like suggestions on a technique that would do this as automatically as possible. I know I could spend the time to get down to a pixel level and clean up the writing then drop it back on to a new black layer. This would be very time intensive and I would have a big learning curve on how to do this.

Sep 21, 2012I updated my computer to windows 7 32 bit and need the file:Â AdskHwCertificationDatabase.xml - version 17.1.0.4 so that I can find out the correct driver for my OS and my quadrofx 1700 graphics card. Autodesk doesn't support 2008 Architecture and the on;y file I can find is buried in a torrent file with a pirated copy of 2008 and I DO NOT wish to download that.

AutoCad :: Plotter On A Network?
Dec 28, 2011using a plotter on a network. I moved all my plot styles to a folder on the network where everyone can use them and pointed the path on each station. My only problem now is that each station seems to have the drivers ect.. for the plotter on stand alone stations. What happens if I open a dwg on my station and then close it and go to another station I get warning that drivers are not found,the device can not be found. Do I need to copy the driver and device folders to the network and have the settings on each PC point to that folder.

Apr 5, 2013In our company we have a Tool Palette guru. She has READ/WRITE privileges to a Tool Palettes Development folder on our network. When she has an update to share with the masses, a network admin goes into the Tool Palettes Development folder and moves the corresponding files and folders to Tool Palettes folder where all CAD users have only READ access. All users point to the Tool Palettes folder on the network as well as a folder on tehor local machine so they can create their own custom Tool Palettes.
We have several users that have to reload their Tool Palettes every time they login to their workstation. Also, whenever a user logins to a different workstation, the Tool Palettes images have to be reloaded manually.I'm thinking there has to be a way so that
1) once the Tool Palettes are loaded for a user they don't have to be reloaded and
2) we don;t have to reload the Tool Palettes images when a user changes workstations.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Can't Add New Survey Network
Aug 18, 2009I was following Civil 3D 2008 Education Curriculum Module 04-Survey on how to import field books, create points and figures, insert them into the drawing, and then (per page 04-35), remove the network from the drawing.
Now I have a serious problem, and cannot add any new Networks. The "Name" and "Description" appears, but there is no place for a cursor entry.
Do I have to re-install the program?
