AutoCAD Architecture :: Insert Ribbon - Seek Search Bar Leaves With Blank Page
Oct 7, 2012
I updated to Arch. 13 and some of my content (mainly casework) was not working properly, so I deleted it and decided to just re-download the files. Insert ribbon > Seek search bar leaves me with a blank page. I've tried queries: "casework" "ceiling fan" "furnace" "family" "lighting" and "wall."
I've tried getting through via Revit Architecture as well.
I'm in the middle of a design concept rendering for a client... so this caught me completely off-guard.
Is Autudesk Express Viewer still available. I need a viewer to insert in my web page so prospective clients can see some of my floor plans. Marking up is not a need.
I am trying to insert a block (using .Net) that does not already exist on the drawing. It is on a network share, which is in the search path. If I, from the command line insert the block, it finds it ok and inserts it. But when I do this from .Net code it does not search for the block. So how do you get it to search for the block and insert it?
Here is a code snippet I'm using to insert the block:
Dim myDwg AsDocument = Application.DocumentManager.MdiActiveDocument Using myDocLock AsDocumentLock= myDwg.LockDocument() Using myTrans AsTransaction= myDwg.TransactionManager.StartTransaction 'Open the database for WriteDim myBT AsBlockTable = CType(myDwg.Database.BlockTableId.GetObject(OpenMode.ForRead), BlockTable)
I am new in the autodesk customization, I have autocad 2013 and visual studio 2010..I am interested in make a custom ribbon tab, where I can put a button.
I have found some (incomplete) samples to implement a custom ribbon tab, but I dont know how to "insert" my tab into autocad 2013, and how must I load my tab? with a command? or it can load automatically?
I am trying to plot somelthing with a transparent hatch. I set the hatch to transparent, shows up fine in model space. I go to plot (either to paper or pdf doesn't matter) in the plot setting I check "Plot Transparency" print preview shows everything fine. When I print I get a blank page.
Excuse my awkwardness but I'm self taught on AutoCAD & have managed fine for last few months but have encountered an issue this evening I can't resolve. I've produced drawings, basic they may be, but when preview them the actual drawing area is barely noticable & when export to pdf it practically prints a blank page. I have very simple items in drawing, stockpiles, excavations test locations, and have been producing pdf's fine, even as recently as this morning using the same cadfile. But what ever I've managed to do since then has changed something and I can't resolve the issue.
When I plot to pdf with Transparency on it takes a long time and only creates a blank page. This happens when I give my hatch a transparency in the Properties Dialog box and plot it.
I have a few problems with my autoCAD 2010 version on my new computer. When I make a few hatches, there is a possibility that my entire computer freezes and the only way out is a hard shut down of my computer.
The same problem also appeared when I tried to open a drawing direct in autoCAD or when I search the file to make an exref into the drawing.
Can I arrange the ribbon and or quick access tool bar command drop down so that when I select a tool it stays in the top position rather then having to pick the drop down then scroll down and pick the tool.
So what ever tool I use stays in the top of the list. I'm coming from adt04 so have no experience with the new cui interface.
Is there a way to add to the ribbon panel? I want to add a tool bar so it shows as a panel instead of a tool bar. I tried to customize it but I think I'm missing a step. I went to CUI and selected the default workspace, went to the toolbar area and added the toolbar to the ribbon panel. I then went the the right side of the CUI and hit customization, but there's nothing to select on either the right side or left side that would add the toolbar panel.
I'm using a disto laser with my tablet running "AutoCad Architecture". The laser can be set to fire using a combination of Alt, Shift or Control keys plus a number or letter. I arbitrarily set it up as "Alt 1". My old tablet had a mechanical button that I easily assigned this function. For my new setup, I need this button on the ribbon but I can't figure out what Macro text format is the same as pressing "Alt 1".
I was workingona project with autocad 2011, but i lsot the original menus, Ihave been obliged to use the costomed menu. I knew how to use Autocad 2000 and ADT 2002,
For some reason, when I export to jpg all I end up with is a blank page. On my desktop, I can see the little picture on the icon, but when I click on it, only a blank white page comes up.
Immediately after closing AutoCAD Architecture 2012 or AutoCAD MEP 2012 a yellow warning triangle with a black exclamation point displays. This happens every time AutoCAD is closed. However it is isolated to a few systems all of which were installed using the same deployment as the other systems that do not display this warning. AutoCAD performs as expected but displays this warning when closed.
I'm a right clicker. Contextual ribbon tabs pop up every time I touch an object. They require additional clicks and mouse movements. I don't want them. How can I stop them? I just want the default ribbon. I was able to do this on a previous version but now I forget how. Version upgrades do not bode well for old people.
"This Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded."
It was there yesterday until I quit ACA, where did it go?
Did Autodesk install a virus that deletes the Ribbon after a predefined number of uses? It doesn't make any difference which workspace is invoked it is not there. In Document it is just completely gone and typing ribbon at the command line brings up the "This Ribbon..." as is the case in all the other workspaces. How does this happen?
I am wondering why the most basic tools like MTEXT and DIM in the Ribbon don't have Layer Key options? Or am I missing something? I have the annotation content customized with layer keys and annotation scale on the tool pallets but obviously the "same" tool is right there on the Ribbon as well. Problem is that it is not the same tool and the one on the Ribbon is not configurable, like say with a simple Layer Key option under Properties.
I found the article by Koch about how to copy your tools on your pallets to the Ribbon but I don't understand why I have to do more and more set-up work with every new version. Is it really that bizarre to think that people might want dims to come in on A-ANNO_DIMS layer and text to come in on A-ANNO_TEXT layer?
The AEC content seems to find the Layer Keys. How unexpected that a wall would come in on A-WALL layer! It's almost like the people who made the program understand what it is used for.
