May 25, 2011I am a student and I am trying to transform a spline into a polyline with the AutoCAD 2009 that with have at Uni for the CNC machine but "pedit" doesn't work.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: 3D Polyline To Polyline To Spline With Max
Sep 21, 2013Due to modeling purposes, I need to convert a 3D polyline to a spline. What I have been doing is:
- change polyline fit/smooth to cubic from properties
- convert polyline to spline by typing spline -> object
- method -> fit from properties
You can see the original 3D polyline (green) and the resulting spline (magenta) in the attached drawing.When I zoom in and measure the distance between the two entities at different points along them, at some points the perpendicular distance exceeds 5 millimeters, and I want to ensure the deviation remains under 1 millimeter or even less.
I know I can change the knot parameterization of the spline, and this does work at some locations, but the difference increases at others.Why is there a 5.6 mm difference between the spline fit point and 3D polyline vertex, as measure in the attached drawing?
Now, I can go and manually stretch the fit point to coincide with the vertex. Also, I can add fit points between existing ones to drag the spline closer to the original 3D poly.
However, some of my polys are really long, and it is very time-consuming to do this manually while measuring points along the entities to make sure the distance stays small enough.
how to automate this process? For example a lisp that would maybe take the original vertex points, add say maybe 3 (not too many) new ones between them, and then generate a spline while making sure the deviation is less than the set value of 1mm? I am using AutoCAD 2013.

Apr 13, 2013I need to draw a polyline (or spline) in the XY-plane, followed by a vertical segment before continuing in the XY-plane again. The challenge is working out the vertical part while still in the top view. There's no way to change its elevation on the fly that I know of.

Place a block at length:

and so on..
How I can do that? It would be perfect if it would be possible to give an excel file with the length values.

Revit :: Converting Spline To Polyline In CAD
Dec 7, 2011The surveyor's CAD file includes a boundary line that is mostly curves. It's drawn as a spline. I'm trying to create a PROPERTY LINE in Revit. I've converted the spline to a polyline in CAD. In Revit, PROPERTY LINE sketch mode, I can hghlight the polyline but can't select what I've highlights. Only one of the polylines gets selected. So I have to try to select them all one at a time. converting a spline to polyline in CAD for use in REVIT?

Sep 28, 2011I'm trying to create an external involute spline (ANSI B92.2M) Fillet Root Side Fit 26.9mm x 1 mm x 26 teeth x 38 mm long using the spline generator with Inventor 2012. I created a test shaft"M-182-AMA.ipt" that is Ø26.9 mm x 38 mm long with 1 mm radius on each end of shaft.
I use the following steps:
1. After creating component "M-182-AMA.ipt" I select Design tab>>Power Transmission>>Involute Spline.
2. A window appears that has the caption "Involute Splines Connection Generator".In the Dimensions section I choose "Splines Type: ANSI B92.2M - 37.5 deg, Fillet Root, Side Fit, 26 x 1.00 x 38 x 5H/5h" and change the Length to 38 mm.
3. In the Shaft Groove section I use Create new, and I push the Reference 1 button that turns blue, I then select the od feature from the model and I get an error(see attached pic "error1.jpg).
I changed the 26.9mm od to be 27mm and it still gave me the error.

Mar 20, 2012My Computer just recently jusst got switched to a new server...
Somethings are just acting weird now, like my hatching...
All my old hatches that were associative are acting like one seltions like if i hatch a polyline now when i go to select that hatch it now selects the polyline as well.
This never happened before abd the only way to edit it now is to either make it in the properties not associative then i lose my boundary or just to explode it then i a ihave an exploded hatch...before i made it assoc. and i could just edit or select the hatch only i think its an option setting...

Sep 17, 2012I'm using a block with thick polylines. When i copy it to another drawing the thickness does'nt show anymore, only the contours drawn in thin lines.
How do I get my wide polylines to show correctly? Is there a setting I should know about?

Problem: Transform applied to Smart Object fails to transform an attached Smart Filters Mask.
I mean a Transform, including Free Transform, as found in the Edit menu. A simple move by the Move Tool is OK.
A workaround until this bug is squashed is to encapsulate the Smart Object + Smart Filters + Filter Mask inside another Smart Object and transform that.However, that will not be a satisfactory solution in some cases. If a filter has size parameter(s), e.g. Gaussian Blur radius, a scaling or warping/distorting transform applied after the filter will obviously differ from the filter applied after the transform.
In any case, the workaround is inconvenient to subsequent editing and experimenting with filters and masks.
AutoCAD Map 3D :: Select Polyline By Intersecting Polyline (select By Location)
Aug 10, 2012I can do this in AutoCAD Map but I have my doubts. I will explain in ESRI GIS terms (this is what I am familiar with) and I hope you can tell me if I can do this in AutoCAD Map. In ESRI ArcMap I can select a line and I can hit a Select by Location button. In this window I can select all of the objects that intersect my selected line. Then I can delete them or export them etc.
In AutoCAD Map I have a polyline selected. It is my road centerline. I want to be able to select all of the other polylines that intersect my selected polyline. Is there a way to do this? I need to erase those polylines. Usually I will pan to each of them and select them individually. It just seems to take a lot of time. My AutoCAD co-worker said I could use a fence and draw the fence through my polylines. It seemed to work ok but I accidently deleted extra things that I needed. So I'm back to manually selecting each one by one unless you know a different way.
