View 6 RepliesHaving issue with isolating a layer (any layer other than one that contains a hidden line type), and then having the hidden layer appear behind it when attempting to initiate a command?
Attached is an example. The first image shows my drawing with object layer isolated. But as soon as I enter some type of editing command (move, rotate, etc), in this case copy, my hidden layer appears (see second image).
In my LAYISO settings, I have it set to lock and fade, but it does not lock unless I manually set my hidden layer to lock in the layer coAttachment 37450Attachment 37451mmand.
In solidworks there's a "hidden line" option that displays a 3d part with all its sketch lines (instead of a regular solid) which allows the user to view all the different sides of the part easily. So I was wondering if there's such an option in autodesk inventor 2013. Currently, to view all the different sides and aspects of a part easily, i have been changing the part's material to polycarbone or some other plastic material; this makes the part a little translucent. But this is less effective than the hidden line vew availble in solidworks. method that makes different parts of a 3d part more easily to be viewed?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to plot 3D objects with hidden lines. I've set the viewport SHADE PLOT property to "Legacy hidden" and set my visual style to 2D Wireframe with 2D Hide-Occluded Lines linetype set to "Dashed". The hidden lines do appear, but I don't like the size and spacing of the dashes. Is there a way to add "Hidden" linetype to the selected visual style? Or perhaps there's a way of adjusting the linetype scale for visual style occluded lines (similar to LTSCALE or PSLTSCALE command)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to represent some lines, in model space, that alternate in color, yellow/red, that are "scalable" with respect to different scale view ports in paperspace.
my initial idea was to use two lines, each in which the dash and space between were the same distance, then just offset the yellow/red lines enough for each to fill the others gaps. But, wondering if it was possible to represent that in a single linetype?
I have a problem with line type scale for hidden line it appears different line type scale in another drawing, al though the setting for line type scale & Global scale factor is same for both the drawings. Is there any other setting for the line type.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have tried to load a custom line type from Autocad 2013 to Inventor 2013, through Edit Laver-->Line type -->Other --> Load, but it doesn't appear in the drop-down list. I have read that previous Inventor releases coudn't work with autocad custom or complex line types. Is it still like that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm woring with 2D polylines as exported from another piece of software. The problem I have is that the LTGeneration resets to disabled evertime a polyline is edited, ie broken or trimmed. Plinegen is set to 1 as the system variable, but as far as I can tell every time a line is broken etc it creates a new entity that doesn't inherit the ltgen properties of the previous line or the system variables. I know i can convert to polylines, but is there a better way?

I understand there is some setting you type in the command line to solve this problem but I am unable to find what that is.
I made a lake using lines set at different elevations to show depth, is there a way to calculate the volume of the lake in AutoCAD 2013 from just the line elevations and area without having to make the lines a solid surface

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to make the lines of a reference part that are in effect acting as hidden lines become removed from a view?
We've tried making the part phantom...which isn't right as we need the line representation of the part to be as the reference linestyle...
We've tried changing variables & tick boxes in the edit view dialogue boxes...but nothing works...
I made this custom hidden line, here is the defiinition:
*SCADA_FO_HL, - - - -SCADA-FO- - - -SCADA-FO- - - -SCADA-FO- - - -SCADA-FO- - - -SCADA-FO- - - -SCADA-FO- -
A,0.2,-0.4,0.2,-0.4,0.2,-0.4,0.2,-0.4,0.2,-0.4,0.2,["SCADA-FO",STANDARD,S=.375,U=0.0,X=1.0,Y=-.1],-5
It leaves a continuous line at the beginning and end of the line. Is there a way to get rid of that?
I must be missing something fundamental when trying to change a line from a solid line to a hidden or dashed line in Autocad 2000. I use the ltype command then load either Hidden, or dashed ISO,or both, and invariably the scale is way off in that I always end up with a still solid line, after using modify properties. After all that, every line I draw after that comes out dashed. Maybe I should fool with the layers? Is there a basic procedure I should follow here?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to change a solid line in a drawing to a dotted line to indicate that it is a hidden line. I know I should use Modify/Properties, I just don't know how to import the dotted line into the properties box.

I tired to edit the default linetype file even it doesnot appear in the linetype manger windo.

On some Illustrator CS5 documents, when I click inside a text box, no insertion point (aka the blinking vertical line, or blinking cursor) is shown. I can see the edges, and can highlight text, so it's not the show/hide edges preference in view as far as I can tell. And I've switched show/hide edges off and on, even with ctrl-H a few times to make sure. So right now I can't tell where my insertion point or cursor is inside a text box until I start typing or highlighting something. The little blinking vertical line is gone! How do I get it back?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to draw without the command line visible and am liking it. Have been using F2 if I need it while in a command but am finding the text window a bit obtrusive. It also gets hidden when you click in the drawing area.
Is there a way to activate the command line transparently? If you are in a command, Ctrl+9 cancels it.
I have drawn a black horizontal line 100mm long. Under that line a have a 100mm line coloured blue. How do I select the blue line? In AutoCAD 2000 I would hold down ctrl and select the line. Then scroll using the mouse pressing right click to select. I am currently using AutoCad2011. This function does not work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI inherited a huge 4-panel poster file that was built on top of another file, and then the old file was deleted. I also deleted all the paragraph, character and object styles and unused colors. The problem is there are hidden cmyk colors that show up (I'm guessing it must be in type appearances, but there are so many combinations I can't use the "select" options effectively). I've also tried to change the color swatches to "spot" and search for them in Separations preview, but they still don't show up.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI used these commands years ago and cant remember what they are. I am designing furniture in 3D and want to view the object at SE Isometric, then rotate an additional 18 degrees, then take a screenshot that will basically give me a block that is a line drawing of the object with lines hidden. This is a question with two parts:
#1: How do I rotate from SE Isometric 18 degrees to get the view angle I want?
#2: How do I take a screenshot of the object that will produce a block with hidden lines?
There are two seperate commands for each of these, I just can't remember what they are.
Attached is a picture of the final product I'm looking for.
After I created a 3D support I used Projected Views to make all view, but the problem there is no Hidden lines as you can see on the picture.
I use AutoCAD 2013
Some of objects that I draw have partly hidden lines. Basically I can create two lines and then set one to be solid and the other one to be hidden. But may I know any faster way to do that?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn the attached drawing you'll see I am trying to print a wireframe view of a 3D object with hidden lines displayed as dashed...in paperspace with an MVIEW viewport. To achieve this, I created a custom visual style called "3D Wireframe with hidden lines" because AutoCAD Mechanical doesn't come with a view preset that will do that for some reason. Even though the viewport looks perfect in paperspace, and is set to print "as displayed", the drawing prints (and previews) with the dashed line as solid instead.
I know I could use VIEWBASE to create a drawing view with hidden lines set to "visible and hidden", but that doesn't mean I don't want to know why AutoCAD is doing this strange behavior with standard viewports.
I need to draw a couple of hidden lines into a drawing. I see that it is not in my database when I go to Modify/Properties, it does not exist. I am using either v 2000, or v 2007 if it matters.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm quite new to .NET in AutoCAD, in an Acad plug-in, I need to get the list of standards associated to the current drawing
So far, I've got:
Dim nod As DBDictionary = tr.GetObject(db.NamedObjectsDictionaryId, OpenMode.ForRead)Dim id As ObjectId = nod.Item("AcStStandard")
I do get the object ID of the AcstStandard dictinary. So far so good, but then ???
Can't seem to find an object type to do the tr.GetObject(id, OpenMode.ForRead)
There's stuff for layouts etc... but not for standards.
I'm running Architecture 2013. When creating an elevation object from a 3D model, the hidden lines are not being removed. I've never seen this before, though I have been using Architecture and ADT for years. I've recently upgreaded from 2009 to 2013, and VOILA!
Hidden lines not removed from elevation and section objects. I've tried various tests, to no avail.....
Many is the time that I need to have hidden, or dashed lines added to a drawing. I do this by putting LTYPE in the command line then loading the dash or hidden line that I want. The problem is that long after I have done this, I get a dashed line on any line that I attempt to draw. Even if I dimension something, the arrows and lines are also dashed lines. I go back into Modify Properties and LTYPE and attempt to delete the line types that I have added and I am not allowed to delete them.
View 1 Replies View RelatedA large part of my job is creating installation drawings for plants (equipment and catwalks). Usually what I like to provide the installers is a plan view showing the equipment / catwalks with the base pads of the supports visible as hidden lines. If I just turn on hidden lines in a view, then it is too crowded.
However, manually turning on hidden lines for hundreds of base pads (potentially) is a huge time-sink and usually involves going through the browser manually to find them all. What I would like to do is automate the procedure to some extent. Usually there is only 4 or 5 different parts in an assembly that I need to have hidden lines for.
