AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Draw Internal Involute Spline Profile
Nov 3, 2013
We have some details of Internal Involute Spline profile,.Now it has to be made by EDM Wire cutting,.I need the nomenclature of Internal Involute,.
I browsed in Internet and I found some details, but all of them explaining Major Dia, Minor Dia, Spline pitch, Circular Pitch, tooth Thickness, etc,.But I need how to draw the involute,Please see the attachment "How to draw this" Automated Programs are secondary, reasons,.
1. I am a Mechanical Engineer, I should know how to Draw it, also I am addict in Mechanical Engineering, so I like to know it,.
2. Installing Software's are prohibited in our organization, it can not be done without Higher officials permission, also it will take time to finish this process,.

I'm trying to create an external involute spline (ANSI B92.2M) Fillet Root Side Fit 26.9mm x 1 mm x 26 teeth x 38 mm long using the spline generator with Inventor 2012. I created a test shaft"M-182-AMA.ipt" that is Ø26.9 mm x 38 mm long with 1 mm radius on each end of shaft.
I use the following steps:
1. After creating component "M-182-AMA.ipt" I select Design tab>>Power Transmission>>Involute Spline.
2. A window appears that has the caption "Involute Splines Connection Generator".In the Dimensions section I choose "Splines Type: ANSI B92.2M - 37.5 deg, Fillet Root, Side Fit, 26 x 1.00 x 38 x 5H/5h" and change the Length to 38 mm.
3. In the Shaft Groove section I use Create new, and I push the Reference 1 button that turns blue, I then select the od feature from the model and I get an error(see attached pic "error1.jpg).
I changed the 26.9mm od to be 27mm and it still gave me the error.

The attached profile is a section from a solid. I would like to create a closed profile in order to extrude the shape into a solid. The polyline command and splinedit don't seem to do the trick.

I am drawing a gear and now i need to connect points to draw involute for a gear tooth: [URL] ...
Points are numbered. I'm trying to draw with a spline, but i don't know where to put last point of a spline to draw an exact involute - like for example - if i would draw like this and press enter - i would get this spline: [URL] ...
But if i would move cursor in a different direction and then press enter - i would still get almost identical spline, but still, not the same: [URL] ...
So how do i draw an accurate involute? Maybe i should draw one more point and then stop drawing spline?

I'm wanting to make a corridor model from an imported DGN that contains centerlines and edges of pavement for a neighborhood. From 2011 and 2012, the import creates splines while 2010 and older create 3d polylines. The alignment creation from objects does not work on a 3d polyline or spline and I have no clue how to make a profile from the same object. How could I go about making an alignment and profile from a 3d spline or 3d polyline?

If it would be possible to disable the hatch previewing in AutoCad 2013 when you are creating it by clicking internal points, because it makes really slow the hatching work for my machine and sometimes i have to close AutoCad because it freezes.

I do a lot of retaining wall design that require me to show a profile/section of the wall. I know in more advanced CAD software you can snap a line across a site drawing and it will plot your contour lines in like a profile. I didn't know if there was some way, even an archaic way of doing it. We have some Civil Site Companies that will send us drawing with X,Y, and Z coordinates, this are the ones that I know it would work on.

Our customer send us drawing with ellipse into. With Autocad 2008 I bought a plug-in call SplineConvert that did the job perfectly but not compatible with 2013.
Is there any plugin that could replace that tool ?
Is there any standard ACAD command that could easily do this Job ?
I need a way to make 2 or 3 times per week this converting on all ellipses of large and detail 2D drawings so no time to offset in and out all those .
I try also DXFOUT in R12 but all the spline are being converted into 3d polyline making a huge files that froze my PC.
I also try FLATTEN but did not see how it work , the ellipse stay an ellipse.

Autocad 2014.
I have the outline of a solid body guitar that I drew with spline, extruded and now trying put a 1/2" fillet radius along the edges, top and bottom.
Using the 3d fillet command produces an error, and extruding a profile along the edge path doesn't work either.
Attached is the spline outline, the red part is what needs the fillet, but the white part does not. However, they can't be extruded into a 3d solid unless their joined!

What are the options for drawing utilities (namely water lines) in plan view and having them properly show in profile view?
I'm familiar with creating a polyline, turning it into a feature line, weeding vertices, etc. That works all right but is lnog-winded and really doesn't work well when dealing with lots of curves.

I've got a Profile View style set up just the way I want it. The only problem that I have is that the automated fill hatch that I'm using between my existing and finish profiles is showing up behind the grid lines. Unfortunately, we use "lines overwrite" as a standard, so I can't just switch to "lines merge". Any way or a setting that would allow me to move the draw order of the fill hatch above the grid lines?

I have created a profile. I have my surfaces, projected other surfaces onto it, looks good. So then, I want to do some simple drawing on my profile. Everything looks good in model space. Create a viewport for the profile and things(basic linework) appear in a different location than where I drew them. I figure I need to project an object to make it work because they are associated.
So I draw my simple arc ( arch culvert) with footings and block it. great its where i want it and its a block. Gave it the appropriate elevation when creating the block. go through the project objects and it added. But now its added it in a different spot.

Just upgraded a user to Autodesk Building Design Suite Premium 2013 but AutoCad 2013 and AutoCad MEP 2013 are not saving settings.
On first use the crosshair is large and angled, not standard. If I run "Rest values to default" then the settings are standard until I either restart AutoCAD or open a drawing then have the same strange cross hair.
Have tried creating a new profile, setting it as default startup profile by altering the shortcut but no matter what settings are not saved and revert to strange cross hair once AutoCAD is re-opened or a drawing is opening. If logon to computer as a user without a roaming profile all works fine.

We have loaded copies of AutoCAD Architecture 2013 on several workstations. We had tried brining over older profiles (from 2008)- which did not work, so made up new ones. ANYTIME we go into the profile settings to load a different profile beyond the default, AutoCAD Architecture (US Imperial), eventually while working the program will crash. We've wiped out installations of the program, registry and all, and re-installed without brining over any prior data. Same issue.
Even when using a seperate "default" profile us as (Global) or (Metric)- same issues. The problem with staying/modifying the workspace for the US Imperial is it will not load the complete menus with the MENULOAD command (only loads EXPRESS). If we work within the (US Imperial), no crashing, but again, the menus are not available within that profile for some reason, so that is not an acceptable solution.

I have encountered an error in 2013 MEP. Autocad will suddenly not load and it appears that it gets hung up looking for a profile that does not exist. "AutoCAD MEP (US Imperial)" If I am logged in as administrato,r it opens fine. In my own domain, however, it does not. I have repaired, uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. Incidentally, all of the other Autodesk programs work. Any thoughts on where I can find that profile so that I can redirect to it?

Before when i changue the view to another face, i can draw circles or any form. I think is something related to the UCS., and the Z axis

I have been unable to make Draw Order work well. The attached file and other ones I created would not work. The goal is to have the boarder and text (color 7) always stay on top after it is created as a block and pasted to any drawing. After pasting it, the text go underneath the shade (color 155). I have used Draw Order, picked the objects in the order I would like, repeated the same steps inside the Block Editor and Edit Block In-Place, still, the block would not work. I never had this issue before - seem to have stared today. Don't know what else to do. The only thing that works is keep recreating the block till one works, which seldom works.

I have a problem drawing straight lines. Normally, like everyone, I will start from any given point and the line i wish to draw will snap to 0, 90 or 180 degrees. However there is now no snapping and no straight lines.
I have tried resetting SNAPANG to 0 (it is already set to 0) and this works for maybe the next 3 lines but then I am back to square one and cannot draw a straight line without constantly having to reset SNAPANG.
I've tried resetting USC to world. I've also tried changing PLAN to view and world.
