Points are numbered. I'm trying to draw with a spline, but i don't know where to put last point of a spline to draw an exact involute - like for example - if i would draw like this and press enter - i would get this spline: [URL] ...
But if i would move cursor in a different direction and then press enter - i would still get almost identical spline, but still, not the same: [URL] ...
So how do i draw an accurate involute? Maybe i should draw one more point and then stop drawing spline?
AutoCad 3D :: Gear Tooth Profile - Sweep Along Lines Shown
Jan 28, 2013The attached file shows a gear tooth profile that I need to sweep along the lines shown. The problem is those lines are not all parallel to the UCS The tooth profile is a region.
Is there a workaround to make this happen? I used to do this all the time in 2008.
I couldn't attach the file 'cause it wss too big so I saved it as a PDF but now I can't attach that because it is not a DWG

AutoCAD Inventor :: Helical Gear Tooth Profile / Get The Right Helix Angle With Coil Tool?
Dec 8, 2012I have generated a gear set using inventor. Now I would like to 3d print the gears. I have uesd the export tooth shape to get the true tooth profile. now I am attempting to use the coil feature to generate the helical tooth. The problem im running into is in the coil tool I can only give it a Revolution and height dimension. The hight is the width of the gear, but I am having a problem converting the helix angle to the "Revolution" perameter. I have read other posts and they say that it is Helix angle / 360. I have tried that and then compared it to the original gear generated by inventor and it is not even close. I need to do this on in internal gear and match it to an external gear.

Note that I am using VB for the programming and I have use Try and Catch for linking my API to the inventor. So on starting debugging my API, Inventor starts just as the example in the my first pluggin.
The Only thing remaining is to link my API to the Spur Gear Generator.

Apr 9, 2010I am trying to create a spur gear in Autodesk Inventor 11 using the Spur Gears Component Generator in the Design Accelerator. I have been given diminsions for the Spir Gear as followed but don't know how to enter them because there is only a limited amount of values:

I enter in the Addendum, Clearance, and Pressure Angle and it says that the values are Ambiguous Inputs. Is there any way that I can create this gear? it doesn't matter about the Loads, Material Values, and Inputs in the Calculations tab.

I will post a picture when I have a chance, but what I am looking for is the 'W' figure (distance over 'x' number of teeth at the pitch line). What I have is a 19.xxx deg. helical gear so the best way to get this info is calculate it, but again, I dont see it in the inventor calculation.

I'm not able to get the right gear rotation in a planetary gear drive that I'm working on.
If I make the ring gear stationary and rotate the sun gear, the planetary gear engages and rotates around the ring gear
but in the opposite direction of what it should be turning. The planet to sun gear engagement rotates backwards regardless of what I do to the rotation constraint that I've applied.
If I make the ring gear free to rotate, and the planet gear stationary, the gear train rotates properly.
I've attached a mock up of the plant gear system to share and show what I'm dealing with.

Oct 26, 2011I am not able to convert a 2d gear to 3d gear . I have attached the 2d gear that i had created. I use Autocad student version 2012 . The gear is not getting converted into a complete solid on use of extrusion command . There are gaps in within the gear around the circle or something like that .

I know in more advanced CAD software you can snap a line across a site drawing and it will plot your contour lines in like a profile. I didn't know if there was some way, even an archaic way of doing it. We have some Civil Site Companies that will send us drawing with X,Y, and Z coordinates, this are the ones that I know it would work on.

Apr 22, 2013I've got a Profile View style set up just the way I want it. The only problem that I have is that the automated fill hatch that I'm using between my existing and finish profiles is showing up behind the grid lines. Unfortunately, we use "lines overwrite" as a standard, so I can't just switch to "lines merge". Any way or a setting that would allow me to move the draw order of the fill hatch above the grid lines?

Jun 6, 2011I have created a profile. I have my surfaces, projected other surfaces onto it, looks good. So then, I want to do some simple drawing on my profile. Everything looks good in model space. Create a viewport for the profile and things(basic linework) appear in a different location than where I drew them. I figure I need to project an object to make it work because they are associated.
So I draw my simple arc ( arch culvert) with footings and block it. great its where i want it and its a block. Gave it the appropriate elevation when creating the block. go through the project objects and it added. But now its added it in a different spot.

Approach #1: The first approach could be zoom extent and draw a border around the zoomed view. how to zoom extent and draw a polyline, but can't figure out the exact size of zoomed view.
Approach #2 (optimal) : If the entity is a right circle and my AutoCAD window is not in square shape (for example, the AutoCAD window is maximized and my monitor is wide-screen monitor), Approach #1 will create redundant spaces at the right and left side of the circle entity. So if I could get the grid coordinate of far left, far right, top, and bottom entities, I can draw the optimal border around all entities in the drawing.
AutoCad 2D :: Draw U Bolt In Isometric Drawing?
Nov 19, 2013I am trying to draw a "u bolt" in an isometric drawing. I found one solution, that served the purpose of giving the customer the general idea of the stands we are trying to sell them, but I'd like to know if there is a way to draw it properly.
I have attached a pdf to show what I came up with. Pipe Stands.pdf The only way I could think to get it to work (look right) in isometric view was to draw to vertical lines, make an arc across them with the elipseisocircle, and then use the path array to fill the U shape with the isocircles. This keeps the tubular shape, and the number of circles resembles bolt threads.
My problem is that the u-bolt is only threaded on the ends, the arched part should be smooth. Since this u bolt is to clamp fiberglass pipe to the stand, those threads (in my drawing) could cause damage. In this instance, I just explained this in the email to the customer, but I'd like to find a way to draw it proper.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Center Distance Error In Spur Gears Design Accelerator
Nov 13, 2011I am creating a couple of spur gears using the "Center Distance" design guide. I have fixed each gear to a cylindrical face, but when I click on the "Calculate" button, there is an error saying that the center distance is incorrect.
I went back and edited my sketches so the center distance matched the one displayed in the design accelerator and attempted to calculate again, but the error persists. What am I not getting here?

Aug 23, 2012Whenever i draw a new line, hatch etc - Autocad draws the object with a certain lineype. Then after i draw the line i have to manually click the line and set it's linetype to "By layer". It doesn't matter which layer i set as current, it never draws by layer, allways by this other linetype.
Using Cad 10 Architecture - But tried opening the file on other versions aswell, with the same result.
