I am creating flat patterns of sheet metal parts and i would like cad to do some calculations for me.
For example when i am creating an object , be it a rectangle or simply a line , i dont want to have to work out my sizes on the calculator then input the size to create the object. I would like cad to do the sum for me by inputting my sum straight into the dimension of the object i am creating. E.g CLick rectangle, select a start point and type 1200-375+37+37+10+10, Then tabbing to do a similar thing for the width
The way i draw flat patterns is to start with the overall size then chop into that shape to create a finished pattern. I also have used Inventor and a software for cnc punching called Cadman. Both of these programs you can do this and what with Inventor also being a creation of autodesk i would have thought this could be done in cad as well.
Is there an add on or a simple command that will let me do this.
Trying to utilize a .sid file within Standard AutoCAD 2013, all suggestions point to an Object Enabler but notice that for 2013 all are for Civil 3D, Plant...
Say I have a plane, and I apply a material with a diffuse map to that plane. If I scale the plane, the material scales with it. How would I create a map that stays the same size independent of the size of the object?
I want the material to be 'anchored' to a single spot, or verticie, and a constant scale, so if I stretch the plane, the material won't scale to fit, but instead new tiles would be created where it is scaled.
I have a network of 3d polylines, how can I convert this to a 3d object? In 3ds max I can use a surface modifier to convert it to 3D. Is there a workflow inside of AutoCAD?
I'm an architecture student, trying to complicate my life a little bit more than required. I'm trying to make the next object in AutoCAD so I could "analyze" the form and its shadows with descriptive geometry later:
I'm pretty new to AutoCAD (I have the 2012 version) but I'm familiar with all the basic stuff since I've had some experience with SolidWorks. What I tried so far was to create a cube as a frame for my spline and then sweeping it with a rectangular shape.
I've been having trouble with the constraints in the intersecting points. I can't figure out the exact shape from the start and it makes it hard for me to play with the form later. I'm also having trouble to actually make it look like a knot.
I want to add a new layout to drawing with paper size "A3". this is want i am trying with. We had a VBA script before as shown bellow.
For Each tlAcadLayout In ThisDrawing.layouts If tlAcadLayout.Name = "A3" Then blnLayout = True tlCurMedia = tlAcadLayout.CanonicalMediaName tlConfig = tlAcadLayout.ConfigName oldOrg = tlAcadLayout.PlotOrigin Exit For End If Next With tlAcadLayout .RefreshPlotDeviceInfo .ConfigName = "None"
I am currently working on a playground development for a school project where we have to build a 3D playground based off of autocad drawing, modles, etc.Below is a picture of a "crab see-saw" that I have in my park, and I am having trouble making it 3D. I have tried using "extrude", but, while it streches the drawing into 3D, only the crab's claws become a solid object. The crab's body remains "open".
Crab.jpg -> Normal Drawing crab2.jpg -> Extruded Drawing
The steps I take to extude it are:
1. Select extrude command 2. Select entire drawing 3. Click top of crab body for designated height 4. Type in 7 (units) as the strech command 5. Press enter
All the lines for the crab body are connecterd and I just can't figure out why it isn't working.
I have the 3d model of a ship, but it has no surfaces or solids, just lines. I want to create some solids based on those lines.
It's better if i attach the dwg to the post and explain what i want to do:
- in the file attached there are some lines marked with red and blue - i want to create a solid/3dobject by extruding/lofting the red lines along the blue lines.
In the drawing only a few lines are colored, for better understanding. I tried with loft, but it only creates some surfaces. The point is that i need a solid or a 3d object.
I am trying to create a Mtext object with an annotative TextStyle. I make the textstyle current (which I don't know if is exactly the same as changing the TextStyleId of the mtext object) and create the MText. The problem which I encounter is that the newly crated MText Object has textheight as the textstyle's paper space text height, instead of scaling the text height by the annotative scale, as when you create the Mtext using Autocad menu.
When I create a pdf of a shaded 3D object the pdf shows up with pixelated edges. Is there a way to create a pdf of a shaded 3D object with smooth edges as it appears on screen?
How to go about creating a surface, region or 3D object using non-coplanar points? I'm drawing a few different 3D models for an artist friend of mine to use in her proposal on a local public art project.
However for this version I am bottlenecking on how to create these regions. I have vertical(ish) beams of varying height twisting in different directions with sheets of alternating metals welded in-between, the bottoms line up straight with the tops following an S curve but with the twisting geometry the top two endpoints for each will always be in separate planes.
Right now i am using model space only i didn't use the layout but i want create the A3 layout. And I need to attach our customized title block into the layout, how to make it the A3 lay out size and how to attach the title block into layout ?
I made the mistake that I came to measure my object as cm but inventor writes it's in as mm, is there a way where I can scale objectet up giving it the right size
I'm trying to create a new pc3 file following instructions in the help menu.
Click Application menu> Print> Manage Plotters.In the Autodesk Plotter Manager, double-click the Add-a-Plotter Wizard shortcut icon. When I click on "Manage Plotters", windows explorer opens the folder where our pc3 files are located. I don't see Add-a-Plotter Wizard shortcut icon?
I've never created a pc3 file from scratch. I've modified existing pc3 files and done a save as before, but I need to create one from scratch in 2013. Some of the old ones won't work as others have explained here [URL].......and it was suggested to make a new one. Also, when I edit a pc3 file in 2013, I no longer get the option to either "Apply changes for the current plot only" or "Save changes to the following file".
I have been looking through a ton of threads and can only find half an answer to what I'm looking for: When I draw in mm, I have to set the scale of the viewport to 1:30 or somewhere in that range. But in reality, the object that Im drawing isn't 1/30th of the size that it prints. How do I get the scale right to print the object at its actual size? cad 2013
I have an AutoCAD drawing (I did not create it) of a proposed trail in my city, and I've been tasked with making some kind of model or render of a section of it. I'm at a loss for how to even start, unfortunately. In the end I would like to have an accurate 3D model of a boardwalk section of the trail with surrounding terrain. I have Sketchup, Google Earth, and Revit at my disposal.
My first problem is topography. When I import the CAD drawing to Revit it seems there is some topographical data, which will be needed to realistically build the boardwalk on top of. I was able to get the terrain of the area into Sketchup from Google Earth, but then I don't know exactly where to build the model.
I've attached an image of a floor I created in the outline of the boardwalk. The area in question begins at the two handicap parking stalls (represented as the two blue towers for some hilarious reason) and ends at the second square (a viewing platform). My preferred method would be get an accurate topograhic site in Revit, build the boardwalk, and then place surrounding vegetation so I can get some renders.
EDIT: I've attached "Screenshot 2" which shows I found I was able to create terrain in Revit by selecting a layer of the CAD file. However that layer is suspended above, and my placeholder floor is underneath. Now I just need to get the floor (representing the boardwalk) to go along the terrain.
I am creating a drawing template that everyone in my office will use, stored on a shared location. I want the label "Drawn by ...." in the title block to be filled automatically with the drafter's name who created the drawing. It would be easy to just add the field "Author" or "LastSavedBy", but my situation is more complex. Our workstations are identified by a code that consists of first two letters of given and last name, for example John Smith's computer is named JOSM. So if I use "Author" field, then I would get "Drawn By JOSM", but I want to get "Drawn by John Smith".
I would like to some how create a field that contains function:
IF author=JOSM, value=John Smith IF author=MAST, value=Mary Stuart
Is it possible to create such functionality? I found out something about Expressions and Diesel Expressions, but didn't understand much.
I have here an exercise to create a Dartboard with just Donuts, limits (0,0)(24,18) GRID=1, SNAP=.125. Here below what is needed to reproduce.
Now, I have set the center at 30,20, and with the followings:
Layer 1, for the Donut's inner circle with 0 and 0.62 Outer Diameter;
Layer 2, for the next Donut simply 1.50 DIA;
Layer 3, for the Donut 1.50 and 7.50 Outer diameter;
Layer 4, for the Donut 7.50 and 8.25 OD;
Layer 5, for the Donut 8.25 and 13.00 OD;
0, for the outside is just a circle to place the numbers (Not Donut).
Having done to this stage, I got stuck, just going round and round getting nowhere. Here is my attempt (Note that the red radial lines are arrayed around the circle, and done lastly before the numbering):
I created a 3d model, and is now trying to put the views on a layout. There seems to be something that causes the view to overlap itself. I have attached a screenshot of the model & layout respectively. On the layout the color members are the ones not supposed to be there. I have printed the layout, and the result is the same as the screenshot.
My PCG s are coming in with bluish colors . They should have reds, oranges, and yellows also. my hardware accelerator is on and i am using a realistic viewing style. using 2013 AutoCAD. Creating PCG files from a FLS file.
I am struggling to create absolute coordinates on my autocad. I've done it before and tried on different computers drawing the same shape and it works but for some reason when i enter the points into autocad on my comp a line is created instead of a triangle.
I am trying to create a wall tag to do the following also see attached PDF:
Tag designation (text and number) generated from wall style (wallstyles:type) and be annotative.
Tag has 2 lines forming an L that I would like to preset (12" by the text and 18" long) but have the capability to be stretched/stretchable later on.
Tag has grip hand similar to doors which enables it to be attached to walls but doesn't change placement when wall is extended/trimmed/ moved or wall tag generates information from the wall it touches but if the wall moves the tag would stay but show and error or "X".
It didn't sound so difficult in my head but writing it down makes it seem very difficult. Anyways is this possible or any source to some step by step directions for creating a tag like this?
I have been looking all over to try to find a way to create a flat pattern from a 3D model in AutoCAD. I've found several sites saying it can be done on Inventor, but as I do not have Inventor, I would like to know if it is possible to do with AutoCAD, and if so how to do it.
Can i scale a 2D object to an exact length and width that i need to fit into a space?
Ive been reading around online and they say use scale/ref, however i noticed by giving the ref length, it does lengthen the object to the ref length, but the height's off!
getting consistent crash when clicking on "new" in page setup manager dialog box.
Happens regardless of which drawing is open. Even for new blank drawings.This prevents me from creating new pagesetup overrides for Publishing. MAJOR PROBLEM.
At this point I have to get other people in the office to create new page setup for me. Editing existing page setups works find, only the "new" setups are a problem.
AutoCAD 2013 (G.114.0.0 SP 1.1), Windows 7.
Also, AutoCAD internal crash reporter is not called. Goes direct to Win 7, "Application has stop working" dialog.
How to develop 2D contour diagrams for noise contour diagrams. If you look at examples essentially it is just taking plotted noise data over layed on top of a particular drawing showing representative noise measurements. From my understanding of creating contours it is a matter of triangulating the data points.
