AutoCAD 2013 :: Aligning Objects / Arrays

Jun 10, 2013

I am currently drawing a lithography mask in Autocad 2013 student version, where I created a lot of arrays. My problem is that I can't seem to align these structures. Some of them need to be aligned along the y-axis and some along the x-axis.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Aligning Objects In Modelspace With Objects In Paperspace?

Apr 10, 2012

I'd like to know how to align an object in model space with the edge of my viewport in paperspace.

When I draw, I like to lay out multiple complete drawings in model space, make an appropriately scaled bounding box around them, and then snap a view port to the bounding box in my layout. I usually have multiple drawings lined up in a row in modelspace, so when I want a new layout I do a Save As and then pan around in my viewport to find the next bounding box, at which point I have to resize the viewport to get it to snap to the edges nicely. I really want to be able to to it the otehr way around- while panning I'd like to be able to grab a corner of my modelspace bouding box and snap it to the the corresponding corner of my viewport window. That way making new layouts would be a snap. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 2012 LT?

If it is possible, I would also like to be able to explode my array and have my array items acquire the attribute information for exporting later. Can this be done as well?

AutoCAD 2013 :: How To Create Large Arrays

Aug 9, 2012

I'm wondering how to create huge arrays in the best way.  I have a circle and want it thousands of columns and tens of thousands of rows.  Anytime I start to make this AutoCAD gets extremely slow and I was told that turning some into blocks would be best.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Memory Management When Creating Huge Arrays

Aug 8, 2012

I am trying to make a huge array of circles (4000 x 12000 or so).  I work in microfabrication and need this to make a mask for lithography of a membrane.  What is the best practice to minimize the memory usage?  I.e. arrays, blocks, groups?  I tried making an array of circles one row and 4000 columns then making that a block.  Then repeating that block down for multiple rows, maybe 100, then making that a block.  Repeating this until I have thousands of them.  Is this the best way?  It bogs down and gets incredible slow which I am hoping to avoid.  I realize that it is inevitable that it will get slow with these huge numbers.

If you can use the ALIGN command to align multiple text objects in the Y-Axis? (or X-Axis as well)

I know about changing the X value of a bunch of text objects to align them that way. I'm just wondering if the ALIGN command will allow you to do something similar?

I want to do this without lisp too. If there are other methods I'm always wanting to learn! I just had a new cad user ask me about the ALIGN command and I couldn't get it to do it.

I have done this with OSNAP switched OFF and with Snap ON but it does not give the desired result, the elements of the copied drawing always being just off the grid and not in true alignment.

3ds Max Modeling :: Exact Aligning Of Objects To Each Other

Apr 12, 2012

I am having some difficulty getting objects to exactly align to another. When I zoom in as much as I can I see that the two objects edges are not exactly aligned to each other on one axis despite having the same co-ordinate values. I am working in meters unit value. I have tried going to millimeter unit setup but I still have the object aligning issue using what seems to be the finest level of movement - 3 millimeters per movement action.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Aligning Blocks To A Curve

Aug 21, 2013

Is it possible to create a block that conforms to a curve in AutoCAD 2013?

In this case I want to have 3 lines that will intersect an existing line at 1 meter intervals - which is simple for straight lines, but when the existing line is curved my current block setup just isn't cutting the mustard.

The only thing I'm trying to achieve is to have a block that will place these lines at 1metre gaps (with the distance measured along the line I'm placing it on, and not the shortest distance).

If you have raster (or vector) item on seperate layers, I know I can link all the layers together, but when I select the MOVE tool and press the button that centers to the middle of the canvas, it moves every item to the center of the canvas (as it should) But these items, when viewed "together" make up an element that I'd like to be considered "grouped" so the "collectively" then are centered to the canvas as one item. Is this possible?

Illustrator :: Aligning Objects Or Text Along A Curved Path

Aug 11, 2012

I have a variable number of text lines I would like to arrange along the path of half a circle. I would like the text to look like each text-string is radiating from the circle (the path I have as half a circle).

I would like to do this in adobe illustrator

I would like the text to be evenly spaced along the path dependent on how many lines of text I have.

I have seen other discussions suggesting either the blend-tool or the brush-tool. But no luck. The blend-tool would make distorted shapes in between, and would twist and distort the text. The brush tool would make each text a little bit 'cone-shaped', and I would prefer having the text without such a 'cone-shape'.

I am attaching a picture that halfway shows my intentions. In this diagram I have started rotating the first 4-5 text-lines. I have more text-strings (just above the half-circle) that I also would like to include along the path the half-circle is indicating.

The final goal is to get each of these locality-names raditing from the tips in the little red tree.

Is it possible in illustrator to align the text along a path like this? It is almost similar to the normal align objects and distribute objects.

I am working on a Mac OSX 10.5 Adobe Illustrator CS3.

I've tested it on my machine but i cannot replicate the issue and have never come across this before!

Is it a bug? Is it a variable? User setting etc.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Passing And Using Arrays In ILogic

In order to do what I want, I've found it will be easier to use Arrays. Unfortunately I'm having trouble passing arrays through various functions and setting them to each other.

These errors are constantly popping up

Rule Compile Errors in Bridge Stress, in Sketch Test Code.ipt

Error on Line 174 : Number of indices is less than the number of dimensions of the indexed array.

AutoCad :: Dynamic Bocks With Chained Arrays?

Apr 8, 2011

I've been trying to figure out if chaining parameters will accomplish what i'm trying to do, which is...

Imagine an elevation of a concrete pier or column showing the horizontal stirrup cage around the vertical reinforcement. If like to be able to use one parameter to control the space between elements (cage c/c) and another to control the total length of the array (height of column or # of cages). Then the actual number of elements would be total length/spacing.

Also, arrays alway seem to have fixed spacing, anyway to make the parameter control the spacing of the array?

AutoCAD .NET :: Passing Late-bound Variant Arrays

Aug 22, 2012

I have been attempting to pass a string array contained in a variant to the AutoCAD method AcadPlot.SetLayoutsToPlot.  I am using late binding without a Interop assembly because we have several versions of AutoCAD in this company and I would like to support all of them from the same code base. The method wants a variant that contains a string array passed byref.  The Microsoft documentation on COM interop from VB.NET makes it sound like the compiler will marshal it correctly by default, but it always throws a COMException (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070057 (E_INVALIDARG)).

The stack trace shows it is trying to anyway:

StackTrace:
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.LateBinding.InternalLateCall(Object o, Type objType, String name, Object[] args, String[] paramnames, Boolean[] CopyBack, Boolean IgnoreReturn)
at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.NewLateBinding.LateCall(Object Instance, Type Type, String MemberName, Object[] Arguments, String[] ArgumentNames, Type[] TypeArguments, Boolean[] CopyBack, Boolean IgnoreReturn)

But no matter how I code it I cannot get this variant array passed to AutoCAD.I have tried:

Imports System.Runtime.InteropServices
' VB default marshalling
Dim layoutarr = New Object() {"Layout1"}
doc.Plot.SetLayoutsToPlot(layoutarr)
' using a VariantWrapper
Dim layoutarr = New Object() {"Layout1"}
Dim wrapper As New System.Runtime.InteropServices.VariantWrapper(layoutarr)
doc.Plot.SetLayoutsToPlot(wrapper)
[code]...

As intensively as AutoCAD ActiveX uses variant arrays, I know this problem is going to come up again and again for me as I try to migrate code over to .NET.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Does P&ID Create AEC Objects

Jan 8, 2013

The firm at which I am currently consulting uses AutoCAD 2014.  My system at home has P&ID.  I don't use the object/3d features -- it is just the version of AutoCAD that I wound up buying.  (I think it was on special or something.)  In any case, some of our drawing files have become too cumbersome to use, especially on the machines at the office, and I wonder if my P&ID is the culprit.  The large files appear to have AEC objects that are bogging them down, but nobody has ADT, so we are unsure from where these objects are coming.  They may be coming from the client, but I wonder if they are coming from my system.  Does P&ID automatically create AEC objects and, if so, is there a way to keep it from doing that?
