View 8 RepliesI am using Map 5 on WinNT 4.0 Service Pack 6.0
I want to insert a Tiff image by the following -
Insert - Image Manager - Attach - Select Image
I select the image file (which is in Tiff Format) and the preview says "Image File Not Valid". I can open the same image in R14.
I have Photoshop Elements 11. I designed a book cover with Microsoft Word 2010 and saved the file as a Pdf. I want to upload an image of this book cover to various web sites that require a Jpeg image and the book cover has to cover at least 85% of the image and require a pure white back ground. Pixel size can be 1,000 or more. I did go to the library to get reference books but, I can't ascertain from these books how to do this. I am a beginner to Photoshop and realize I will have to get training for future projects. I wanted to upload an image from my computer to show you the book cover but there was a dialogue box that appeared saying the file was too large to upload. The book cover I designed is 8.5' x 11.0"

When inserting a jpeg into a drawing is it possible to insert it via it's center point? I am inserting utillity drawings on to an OS background and if i could insert via the center point it would save me a lot of time.

My trouble is that all my images are stored in TIFF format which takes up enormous space no matter the storage. Since I output images in various sizes, mainly prints, to 30 x 40 inches, I need a master image archived in the best format for such. However, I do not want to fill my drives, or DVD, with large files. Code:

When attach image (tif) with no path. is saved, de image will be saved without a path. dir. Only when we change the image (with RasterCAD) when we now save the drawing the hole path dir. will be saved.
When we used AutoCAD 2006 this will not be the case. The tiff. will stay no path. We move/copy drawing with image to other dir. very often.

... dwg/tif
-To-Built

-As-Built

Problem is that the image will be saved in the wrong dir.

I am linking to the exact same background image file (TIF) in more than one illustrator file. This image is on the bottom layer in four different files.
The opacity on the image and the image's layer is set to 100% in all the files. In the dialog box for each of the layers that contain the image, the "Dim" control is unchecked. There are no other higher layers that contain artwork that might interfere with the image's appearance.
Yet...in two of the files, the image looks full and vibrant. In the other two files, the image looks dim and faded.
Is there another control that I'm missing that might be causing the image to be faded. (I want it to be full and vibrant.)
I am using ACAD 12 and am trying to obtain a TIFF image of my drawing, but the linewidths do not seem to be registering. I know this because if I change the output device to PDF or to our printer, they show up (and show up in the preview), but when TIFF is selected, all linewidths seem to revert to 0.0000. Any thoughts? I am plotting in B/W exclusively.
View 8 Replies View RelatedTo open .cal drawings, I've alway hit the "insert" tab and selected insert raster image from the dropdown menu.
Today, the "insert" tab doesn't create a dropdown menu. It opens a whole "insert" toolbar without any reference to raster images.
How do I open my .cal files and why did autoCAD change itself?
I got this workflow,
1) From LR export to PS
2) Do all essential editings.
3) Save. File become 'xyz.tiff' now. (I want to keep this as master copy)
4) Crop to 4r, Save a Jpeg copy as 'xyz 4r.jpg'
5) PS save it as a copy, but do not automatically open the Jpeg copy. The tiff remains opened. I have to manullay Open, browse to it, and open the Jpeg. The 'Open Recent' list also do not list 'xyz 4r.jpg'.
6) Do 4r sharpening for the 'xyz 4r.jpg', save it.
Basically the files I want to keep and worked on is like this: NEF -> xyz.tiff -> xyz 4r.jpg -> xyz sml.jpg(maybe)
Now, it there a way in step (5) to have PS save the JPEG copy, and automatically open it? I don't care if the Tiff copy remains opened or not, I am done with it.
know if there is a way to insert a geo-referenced i-phone image into AutoCAD 2011?

View 1 Replies View RelatedGoal of the task : I need the area of different type of soil. I have an image of these different soil, but I need to create a polygon manualy for each and every one of these. This is to calculate the runoff coefficient of a watershed.
As they are different by their colors (blue = lake, green = forest, etc), I would like to know if it is possible to convert these image to have an polygon usable in autocad, where I can calculate the area of each type of cover.
I would like to insert the group of faces below into a larger image with a black background. I would like to give the impression that they are underwater and we are looking down on them through the water. (Imagine a setting where we are standing beside a stream and looking down into the stream, where we see the faces.) I find several tutorials for creating underwater scenes in which the camera position is underwater, but none in which the camera position is above and looking down into the water.
CS5 on a Mac.
I already know how to remove backgrounds from images, and create a transparent background. However, I need to be able to use the resulting image in another program called Scratch. And as far as I know, it does not accept .tiff, .pgn, .psd or gifs.
How do I completely remove that background so that it doesn't show up white in other programs when I save it as a .jpeg?
I have a JPEG image and want to remove white background of it.

I can't get the map workspace to come up.
I recently changed jobs and my employer did not purchase AutoCAD 2013 Civil 3D instead they only purchased AutoCAD 2013 (plain). I have to work with aerial and I recived all of our county areals which are on a state plain coordinate system. However when I bring the aerials into AutoCAD 2013 via the "ImageAttach" command the aerals come in at 0,0 and just pile up on each other and they are not to the correct scale. I could just move the aerials and try to rescale them and attach them at the corners but the areals are overlapped so this chore is not very acurate lining them up. I said all this to ask..........Is there a way to insert aerials (tif files) into AutoCAD 2013 (plain edition) so that they come in in the correct coordinate location and the correct scale? I know in AutoCAD Civil 3D you could go to the Map module and insert the aerials and they would come in in the right geodetic location. And incase you need to know, the directory I have the aerials stored in has the "tif" , "aux", and the "tfw" files.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to place some pictures (.jpeg, bitmap, whatever) onto an inventor drawing but it won't let me. I see when you create a sketch in a drawing there is an "image" option in the insert tab, however this option is always grayed out for me no matter what I try.
The way I insert pictures on a drawing now is just to create a part, put the image as a decal on that part and create a view in a drawing with a shaded view. However with this option the lighting shows up and kills the image quality and it seems too complicated to be the correct way.
Is there any way one can convert an imported photo in Jpeg or Bmp or Tiff or any other format into lines in a drawing?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have had no trouble in the past using automate/batch to change images from jpeg to tiff and back again. For some reason this last set of images will not transfer. Everything I have done to the images has taken twice as long as usual, even simple things like just getting the image to show up (they are all tiffs now). When I finally got everything fixed up I went to change the folders from tiffs to jpegs.
What happened is that the first image would change over then each successive one would overlay the one before it. So I could have ended with a "deck of cards" on the screen but nothing in the new folder I had created. I need to get these to a pr person asap but can't send a ton of CDs that the tiffs would take up.
How do I convert Tiff's to Jpeg's in Lightroom so I can then upload them to SmugMug?

I just sits there in all its power staring me down. why must Photoshop all of a sudden despise me so?
