AutoCAD 2010 :: Insert Image As OLE Objects - Cannot Move Or Scale It
Apr 15, 2011When I insert an image as an OLE object, I cannot move it, scale it or anything? Am I missing something?

View 6 RepliesSo a friend created a model using zbrush and exported several different *.OBJ files. I imported those to maya and added shaders. They all fit correctly together when imported.
some of those obj files required me to do a mesh->combine. so now it appears that not every item has the same reference point so that when I move or scale the entire item, some of the objects move seperately. I think it is only the ones I had to combine.
I tried freeze transformations, but when doing that, some of the objects lost their scale settings and still didnt move together as one unit.
Any lisp routine where you can select objects and do a global rotate, scale, etc. from each object's insertion point ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have several pillars that I want to scale down to the same size, but I don't want to have to scale them individually or reposition them once I'm done. Is there any way to scale them all without making them move along the axis being scaled? (I should have made them instances of each other. My only problem there is that I couldn't reposition one pillar without moving the others. for future reference, is there a way to temporarily break the instance relationship so on can be edited?)
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I change the annotation scale for selected text and leaders, most of it shoots into space. I have tried one at a time and many, all with the same result.
The text size looks correct, the leader looks fine, but the text x coordinate changes radically.
Changing from 1:1 to 1:15,000
Does this mean I have to relocate every leader text back to something normal, or am I missing something.
Any commands or 3rd party applications that would allow me to move or stretch objects that reside in an XREF?
The cherry on top would be the ability to do this to only specific layers.
I am trying to insert a block into a file in Acad 2014 and it comes in too large. If I insert the same block into the same file using Acad 2012 it comes in at the correct scale. Doesn't seem to matter if insunits is 0 or 1, or insunitsdefsource or insunitsdeftarget are also 0 or 1.
There must be some variable or variables I'm missing.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have three dwg files. Each of them have separate MrSID files (image files) attached by georeference. Each file also has one or more polylines and hatch objects on top of the image.
ONE of these dwg files is causing problems. EVERY SINGLE TIME I plot the dwg file, the hatch and lwpolyline objects are UNDER the image. So I have to copy the hatch on top of itself and delete the original--then do the same with the pline.
We have recently noticed that after printing a PDF of a drawing I plotted from AutoCAD we are coming up with differences when we double check the scale on the printed hardcopy using a carpenter ruler.
For example, there is a dimension labeled on the drawing of 200 ft. However, if I try to scale this out with a carpenter's ruler at the drawing was set to (say for instance it is 1 inch = 100 ft) I am coming up short of the 2 inches it should be (typically come up around an 1-15/16" or around 194 feet, approx 97% of the correct amount).
In the Page Setup Manager in AutoCAD, I have the following options selected (see the print screen as well):
Printer/plotter selected: DWG to PDF.pc3
Paper Size: ANSI full bleed B (11.00 x 17.00 Inches)
What to Plot: Layout
I don't have a plot scale scale other than the default 1" = 1'
No plot style selected
Then, on the print menu when I open the PDF that I have exported from AutoCAD, I have the following settings (see the print screens I have attached):
Printer: The printer I use (Konica Minolta c650 Series PCL)
And I have selected the Options "Auto Rotate and Center" and "Choose paper source by PDF page size**"
** Note, that I have tried unselecting the "Choose paper source by PDF page size" option and accordingly changed the paper size in the "Page Setup..." button at the btoom to match the document size (i.e. 11.0 x 17.0in) and it gets the difference to be closer (i.e. I now get 198 ft but some of my border gets cut off). See the print screen below for this a print screen of the print menu and sub-menu of Page Setup showing the paper size selected.
I saw that some people in other forums state that there is no real solution when trying to scale off of PDF's and that there should be a disclaimer saying as much if you are to send the file out to a customer who may rely on doing some in the field scaling from the printed copy of the PDF file. I find it hard to believe there is no solution as we have received some drawings from others whom the scaling works just fine.
I work in autocad 2010 and I draw in scale 1:1 . What an annotation scale is, moreover I have never used annotative objects in my drawings.
Nonetheless, when I try to plot a drawing, while I am in the model view, I choose the scale in mm/units, I select the plot area and when I press preview or plot, I get the message THE ANNOTATION SCALE IS NOT EQUAL TO THE PLOT SCALE. DO YOU WANT TO CONTINUE?
I press yes, I print it and the outcome is always a bit smaller than it should be.
When i am in the layout mode and I try to plot, I dont get this message. But I dont know how scaling works in this case. For example I want to plot in a A4 paper, scale 1:100. So I type 1000mm/100units, as I did in the model mode, but the result is wrong.
Is it possible to insert a scale bar? I have searched all over but the only instruction I got was to click insert scale bar in the annotation pallette, but no such thing exists. Surely this should be easy enough?
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo I figured out how to insert a scale bar, it appears to be working, I just cant for the life of me figure out how to make the dang thing bigger! I cant "scale" the bar without messing it up. See attached pic, i want my new scale bar to be as big as the old (top) one.

How does one remedy this Adobe error message? "Can't scale the objects. The requested transformation would make some objects too small to use." This one always gets me. I'll spend more time trying to find the object in question. This has happened in almost al versions, but this time it's CS5.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am working with surveying points and what I used to do was insert the dxf file containing the points to my drawing and they would be inserted with their correct scale. However, now in AutoCAD 2013, when I insert them they are in a different scale and I must adjust them. Is there anyway to have their original scale carry over in 2013?

I am currently using Autocad 2014 and I am attempting to insert a dynamic block from a tool palette. I would like to click on a dynamic block in the tool palette and have it prompt for the (uniform) scale. It seems simple enough but either all the dynamic properties are lost or it is inserted at 1"x1" (the scale of my original block). How to get this to work?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD 2011 LT.
Windows 7 32-bit
3 GB of RAM
For my current task I have to insert high-res pictures onto a set of floorplans. My process is as follows.
- Locate image from Vendor Website
-Copy image through windows Clipboard (CTRL+C)
- Paste into DWG File through Clipboard
- grab the corner to scale it down to size because it always comes in huge.
Some of the Issues I am encountering.
- Object is inserted as OLE object. I cannot insert as Block or any other Paste Special option besides Bitmap
- I cannot copy the object throughout the drawing
- when I reopen the file after saving OLE objects are gone or just white square
- I cannot view object in a viewport
I have looked around but and tried a couple of the recommended processes but none seem to work. I am no running into brick walls getting Unhandled Exceptions and now Fatal Errors.
Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI thought there was a way to insert an image (tif) to model space, and adjust it like you would any line or polygon. Apparently this is not the case. When I attach an image, where I place it is permanent and I can't even select it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'd like to know how to align an object in model space with the edge of my viewport in paperspace.
When I draw, I like to lay out multiple complete drawings in model space, make an appropriately scaled bounding box around them, and then snap a view port to the bounding box in my layout. I usually have multiple drawings lined up in a row in modelspace, so when I want a new layout I do a Save As and then pan around in my viewport to find the next bounding box, at which point I have to resize the viewport to get it to snap to the edges nicely. I really want to be able to to it the otehr way around- while panning I'd like to be able to grab a corner of my modelspace bouding box and snap it to the the corresponding corner of my viewport window. That way making new layouts would be a snap. Is there a way to do this in AutoCAD 2012 LT?
I am getting an err message "unable to execute the tool .class not registered" while trying to insert objects from the tool pallette.

I wanted to use annotation scale objects long time ago, but I was scared…why? In the office no one knows what annotative objects are.
I already start to imagine the "curses" I'll get when they open my drawings in their computers and see that the dimensionin the drawing are not scaled the way they used to.
I was thinking about telling them a command that will do the magic.
I recall a scale command where you could SSX a set of objects and you could scale all of them at once and they were able to keep thier insertion point and all obects were scaled up or down, recall the command inside scale command?

View 3 Replies View Related[URL] how to add a dynamic radius, with reference to the Move and scale actions.
"1. Set the Radius to Independant and move the center point to the center of the radius"
"2. Add the Scale Action to the Move Action"
"3. You already noticed the angle of the stretches (45, 315) needing to change and the Move multiplier of 1.414"
I am trying to design a column block, but following the above instructions for the root radius the radius moves when I test the block!
1. "move the center point to the center of the radius" What does this mean. I am selecting a liinear parameter, selecting the mid point of the arc first and then the arc center point.
2. "Add the Scale Action to the Move Action". How do you add the scale action to the move action.
I have a function that uses AcadApplication.ActiveDocument.SendCommand to allow the user to scale the inserted lines and text before the next step of the process, but AutoCAD does not display the scale prompt until after the entire program finishes. The prompt works well, but needs to be displayed before I end the sub.
How do I get the command to be sent immediately? Is there another way to allow users to scale the items I insert? The screen needs to be refreshed before the scale command is called, so that the lines and text I just added shows up. I have attached the code for the Send Command call and for the function that calls it.
