AutoCAD 2010 :: Overlay Transparent Background PNG Image On Solid / Mesh
Apr 3, 2012
Is there a way to overlay a transparent background png image on a solid or mesh that already has a material assigned? i.e. a chrome object with a decal applied. I have tried creating a new material using my png file as the image but have not been able to overlay it on an object where I want to see the material underneath.

I have a shape (of a splat) and want to use an image to 'paint' it with, so that the image only overlays the shape and the rest of the background that is not part of the shape is transparent - how can I do this.

With Gimp 2.8 (Mac) I have made a 3D text with a YouTube tutorial. It looks like the Pulp Fiction logo. [URL]...........
How do I overlay a grungy texture, so the letters look 'older'?I tried making the texture image the top layer in the list on the right and then this: right click -> layer -> transparency -> color to alpha.But then, the 'see-through' texture covers the entire square transparent background! Not just the letters...So, how do I add a transparent texture layer over a shaped image that has a transparent background?

How can I remove the lines in the middle after I press and pull the objects.
Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there. Cause if I explode and delete the line in the middle the colors that fill the aquarium are getting rid off See Untitled 2.Jpg to see what I mean. And also how can make the aquarium Untitle 3.jpg transparent?

I am working on 3D modelling of a building in AutoCAD 2010. The 3D model has 7 elements ie walls, roof and its constituents and floor and its constituents. I have to mesh the 3D model created so that I can use the meshed model for further analysis. Is there any method for meshing the created 3D model in AutoCAD?

I created a 3D math surface using 3DPLOT. However my outcome is a polyface mesh and I need to convert it to a solid. I have already tried the "Convert to Solid" & "Convert to Surface" options in the Mesh tab but I get "Mesh not converted because it is not closed or it self-intersects." I also tried the f2s.lsp but I am unsure on how to select my object.
Here is my drawing.
It is basically a 3D plot of cos(x) + cos(y).

I just started with Autocad and I got a problem with creating a solid. The file is attached and as you can see I managed to make the form as a Mesh but from that point I can't convert it to a solid.

I have a PNG image with only one layer as a start point. It has a faded map on it.
I have a second PNG image with a hex grid on it. I do colour to Alpha to establish transparency on the hex grid for white filled hexes (others are not filled with white).
Now, I wish to overlay a portion of the first image with the faded map with the non-transparent part of the second image.
So I select by colour (for the hexes not filled with white) on the second image (the overlay) and I then paste to the first image (after creating a transparency layer and selecting it to receive the overlay).
I see the desired overlay section (minus any transparent stuff as expected), however it is centered over the map in the first image, not where I want it to be. It is a floating selection and must be anchored. So I select the anchor icon in the layer dialog and I think I anchor it into the transparency layer on the first image (that's what I'm trying to do anyway).
And then my problem:
I want to move the thing I just pasted in to the right place with respect to the underlying faded map. I attempt to use the move tool, but all I move is the background map (pretty much the opposite of what I want).
Nothing I do seems to let me reselect the pasted-in overlay so that I can move it.
Why I can't ever reposition the pasted in overlay? It should be in the transparency layer I created but even if I select all, I don't seem to be able to move anything other than the background image.

I'm trying to make an image I have which has a solid background (and a few other details inside it) transparent? so I can still see behind the graphics in the image yet the background at the same time... I know I've seen it before where the image sort of floats above the background... But I don't know how to accomplish this in Photoshop.

I am attempting to create screenshots from an old video game and one part of the game includes a semi-transparent overlay layer that I would like to extract into its own image. I am able to render each layer separately in the emulator I'm using, but the screenshot tool is only able to export the final rendered image, so the transparent layer, when rendered alone, still results in a screenshot where it has been merged with the game palette's background color. I have managed to get 2 different copies of the overlay image using 2 different background colors, but I don't know the transparency percentage on the overlay. Is it possible to extract the original semi-transparent overlay with its original colors and transparency levels knowing the original background color? I can get more screenshots with different background colors if that would work. Also, the overlay only has a 5-color palette, so it's not a terribly complex image. I'm attaching the images I have with the background colors included as separate layers in each.

I want to create a transparent text on a solid color background, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the background layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): URL... Basically, I need to make the letters see through, so they show the background color on which the image will be placed. Is it possible to do in Photoshop Elements? I'm using version 9 on Windows 7.

I have a set of scanned drawings that they wanted marked up via AutoCAD to use for submittals. I made a nice check mark for all the "good" dimensions using a solid green hatch (which plots as green).
I brought the scanned drawings in as xref TIFFs and put my autocad objects over them. Problem is that when I go to PDF them, the check marks are transparent and I really don't want them to be. I've never messed with any transparency settings in our CAD and I've only noticed this issue when printing over top of images.
This is in Carlson 2014 BTW.

So, basically, I am DETERMINED to learn how to use gradient mesh in 5.1. I tried to do that well-known red pepper exercise (I'll provide the URL if somebody hasn't seen it.) Everything was going fine until I actually tried to use the background jpg of the pepper itself in outline mode as a template. The idea is to pick up the template colors of the pepper and then use them as gradient mesh colors. No matter how I tried to do it, that trick just would not work.
If you are working on a gradient mesh and are using image template as a guide you want to work in outline preview so you can see the underlying art to determine wht you are constructing and also it then allows you to use the eyedropper to sample the color of the actual photo so it can be translated tothe mesh and you can simply switch back to Preview mode to check your progress.
Very handy when working with gradient meshes if you are using and underlying template to translate into art.
That sounds great, but sampling the color of the photo and then actually using it on the gradent mesh points just did not seem to work for me.

I am trying to overlay a logo on top of my titles. The logo is a circle and is in PNG format. When I use this logo in documents it is totally transparent with only the circle showing. However, when I try to use it in my video the circle has a white square around it, the white being the transparent area.

I have a .png file that I want to place in a template. This png file is text with a transparent background. When I place this in my template, the background is shown in white. The sheet color the idw is beige, so this doesn't look very good.
Also, when I save a copy of the idw as .dwg, the white background is shown there as well. when it prints, it is ok. If there was a way to have it stay transparent in both?

I used to be able to do this but have forgotten how. I would like to remove the bg from a small image, ie make it's bg transparent, and place that small image on top of a large image, a banner. Not sure what I am doing wrong but when I place the small image on the large one the entire image is transparent, not just the bg.

I try to migrate our ObjectArx Api to Inventor. Therefore I need a function to create a mesh from a solid.
With Autocad .Net Api, I can use GetObjectMesh(DbObject obj, MeshFaceterData parameter). Does in the Inventor Api a similar function exist?
In the parameters I need to set the deviation in the same way as in the Autocad .Net Api.
Example:
FaceterDevNormal = 0.1;
FaceterDevSurface = 0.1;
FaceterMeshType = 2;

Using AutoCAD 2014 I'm trying to model the tummy cut on the back of a guitar similar to this:

I've modeled it to my liking using a mesh surface, how can I "subtract" this area from my 3d solid body? I also have Fusion360, but don't really know how to use it.

I have a still photo of friends getting married. In a slideshow, I would like to show them standing giving their vows at the alter and have various backgrounds replacing the alter. Example: They are standing at the alter. The alter fades into a forestscape then to a seascape and then a sunset. I have prepared the couple photo in PSP buy erasing all but the couple. The erased area is transparent but when I open this photo in Video Studio the transparent area has become a solid white. Is there a fix?

No matter what I do, I can get the background to go transparent but the gate ends up being semi-transparent.

I am creating a scene that includes a partially transparent screen in the middle off a room. I want to show an image with a transparent background being projected onto the screen so that only the image is visible (i.e. no background) and it can be seen from both sides of the screen.
I have created a PNG with an alpha channel. I open this in Photoshop and it is indeed transparent. I then created a standard Max material and used the PNG as the Diffuse map. When I apply this material to the screen the image is not visible.
If I apply a different material with a JPG there is no problem with it being visible. Is there some problem with using PNG for this?
