AutoCAD 2010 :: How To Change Default Install Directory
Apr 14, 2010
When trying to install autocad 2010 civil 3D, I cannot get past the initial select products to install page without getting a bunch of errors as detailed below:
Error 1327. Invalid Drive C:
Then;
Fatal error during installation.
#7560: failed to run AdskExecuteSequence
and finally;
Failed to initialise AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010
This is because when I installed windows, it assigned the letter H to the system drive (where Windows is installed) and as a result, there is no C drive in the system.
This has not been an issue for any programs installed to date, but is causing me grief when trying to install AutoCAD Civil 3D. 2010
Any way of changing the autocad code or settings around so that it will install to the H drive (or I can decide where it should install)?
Autocad is saving files to the Temp folder. I like to keep that folder nice and clean. My question is: which file location in the options dialog box that controls that issue?
Is it possible to change the default import directory from "My Pictures" to a different directory? It gets tedious to have to specify the directory I want to use every single time I import and I have not found a way to make this change sticky.
That seems like it should be a preference but I can find no way to make this change.
I am having troubles with 2 of the Bonus/Extra Content packages: Bonus Content (first one that appears in the "Do More" screen) and Newblue TitlerFX All others I have downloaded installed with no trouble at all but these two keep popping up After I close VS6 and attempt to install but give an error (only flashes) but reads:
Can not determine install directory of X5
I have never had X5, purchase nor trial, installed so I don't know why it keeps attempting to install there (as stated, all other content installed fine) and I don't know where to find the downloaded installs to get rid of them (however I would prefer to get them installed)

I have a query on the units for Autocad, every time i start Autocad up it defaults to inches, i have to change the units manually to mm using in units. is there a way to set this that i don't have to keep doing this?
Each time I go to insert a raster image it opens to a directory which has no files stored in it.
I do have a handful of directories that have my image files stored, and I have gone into Options>Files>storage paths>.... and set them per specs.
Is there a way to change the default directory that the dialogue box opens, when I select- Insert>Raster Image ?
I've also gone through all the options under the Option>File tab, and likewise don't see where it'd be set. I even clicked all the plus signs, down to their respective directories, and none of them match.
I need to modify the page setup of multple drawings and have it save that way so everytime I open the drawing the chosen page setup is selected.
I'm aware of being able to set multiple page setups in the publish screen, but that isnt a permenant change to the drawings themselves, and not what I'm looking for.
In 2.6 Gimp used to save to my windows Pictures directory. Now in 2.8 the default export directory is Documents, which I find a bit annoying. Can I change this behaviour?
I have recently switched from GIMP 2.2 to GIMP 2.8. I'm using Linux (Mageia 3)
With 2.2, if I ran the GIMP from the command line, when I did File-> Open the file browser would open in the same directory that I had started the GIMP from.
With 2.8 the file browser opens in "Recently Used" and I have to navigate to the directory I want. Is there any way to make it open in the current directory instead?
Is there a way to limit the folder directory to only the last few directories?
Example:
If I have the file here,
C:folder1folder2folder3...folder10file.dwg
And I only need to know this,
folder9folder10file.dwg
Some of my files exist in folder directories that extend off the sheet within the plotstamp printing single line and I would like to shorten them to only show the last few directories as all the ones before are exactly the same. I do not want to change the plotstamp to multiline and I can not move the files to other directories as this is just how our system is set up.
When you use shell command and type cmd, command prompt appears and the default location is My Documents. How can i change it to another directory by using only lisp?
I try to load AutoCAD 2010 on windows 7 but it keeps on failing Language Pack - English failed installation aborted, Result 1624 so it rolls back and doesn't install.
How does one determine if the version of AutoCAD that is installed ( 2012 mechanical in this case ) is an x32 or x64 bit installation. Normally I would just look to see if it was installed under Program Files or Program Files ( x86 ) but it is located on D: drive under another folder so I don't have that option.
I am trying to install AutoCAD LT 2010 on a new computer with Windows 7 professional 64bit and it is not working. I keep getting error messages that the “System cannot open the device or file specified” after clicking on the setup .exe file when the disc loads and that I need to “download Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package” when trying to install from the acadlt folder and even after downloading C++ 2005, it still won’t work. How to install this version on Windoes7 64bit without all these errors?
I've installed the LM Tools license manager on a network server to distribute out floating license of AutoCAD 2010. The network license currently has 5 floating licenses for AutoCAD 2010. When I try and install the AutoCAD 2010 software on a client machine and go under "Install Tools and Utilities" I expect to see a choice for the Network License Activation Utility. Unfortunately all I get is the options to install the License Manager (LM Tools), CAD Manager Tools, and SAMreport-Lite. Nothing indicating an Activation Utility.
I may just be very oblivious but I'm not sure how to activate the program with the license server when I can't install the utility to do so. Am I missing a step somewhere? I have a feeling the answer is very obvious but I unfortunately can't see it. The SN and Product Key are entered correctly and should reflect the type of license(s) they are.
recently installed Acad R2010 and I need to install new custom hatches but don't know how.... I got working with Autocad since 1990; probably it was R2.0. This is the first time that I try to do it, so I don´t want to mess the whole thing misplacing my .pat files.
I thought there was a way to get Autocad to read the highest value of z when identifying a point. For instance, if I have a line from 0,0,0 to 0,0,10 I'd like to id the 0,0,10 without having to go to a 3d view. I'm trying to develop a routine to catch elevations in plan view with just one call to (get point).
i have tons of column tags but wants to change the distance between column size and the circle and make the font smaller. I can do this individually but can't do one by one..... is there any way i can adjust all by one command or one magic touch?
Since transferring licence to new computer I am no longer offered the default file name of "Drawing title" - "Layout name" when plotting to PDF (Standard DWG to PDF.pc3). Is there a way to restore this?
Using AutoCAD 2011 we always use 0.00 as our default line weight but the default will change to 0.010 with no real pattern. It can be any drawing at any time. We have reset this dozens of times without being able to stop it from reoccurring.
We are also not able to get line weight to display (yes we check the Lineweight Settings, Display lineweight box) again on random drawings at random times.
How can i change my default setting from picture 1 to a new setting like picture 2 when i open up a new part file and assembly file.Is there a setting i can change so whenever i open a new part file & assembly i have this setting as my default.
