AutoCAD 2010 :: Application Has Suddenly Started To Link Hatch Pattern To Area Boundaries?
Jan 17, 2013
My application has suddenly started to link the hatch pattern to the area boundaries.
The objects remain on their own layers, but I am not able to delete the hatch pattern without deleting the boundaries.
I cannot edit the hatch pattern either as the application no longer recognises the hatch pattern.
Have i changed a setting unwittingly?

When I was using AutoCad 2010 I could HATCH within a cube, circle or within any object that was joined together even if it had text in it would HATCH within the boundaries of the area to be hatched. Now that I use AutoCad 2013 this option does not work as if there is text in the object only a partial area will become hatched. This means I have to MOVE the cube or whatever shape to a place where there is no text inside it, HATCH and then move it back to where I wanted it in the first place.

I am in the process of translating existing VBA code into its equivalent in VB.NET (developing VS Professional 2010 and testing in AutoCAD 2010)
My problem is that I have never done hatching in VB.NET before, and now I am required to hatch a rectangular area (defined by lines) within an AutoCAD block. How to go about accomplishing this task.
To create my block, I am using a DBObjectCollection to store my lines, and then append them to the block definition, creating a reference to see what I just created.
If I were to define a rectangular outline within this block, how can I possibly hatch it?

when i start up Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture 2010 or 2011 (I tried both versions) I get the error message:acad.exe - Application error
The application could not be started correctly (0xc0150002)I searched the internet without any luck, many people have this problem with other programs, but nobody has a solution!
The funny thing is, it worked (2010) then suddenly it stopped working... I uninstalled and reinstalled 2010, didn't work, then I thought lets try the newest version, exactly the same error! Other programs work properly, also other Autodesk programs like Inventor 2008.
Windows is up to date
AutoCAD Architecture is up to date (SP1)
Installed the newest Graphic Driver

I have several days of experience with Autocad 2010... The problem: I have many (a lot) polylines in my 2D drawing that are adjacent to each other, but not joined. What is a good way of joining them, so that those that "touch" each other become one? Maybe I can hatch the area, then delete polylines and then reconstruct the boundary?

why an action that was working perfectly has suddenly started screwing up, royally? It's an action I bought on a digital scrapbooking site. Never could get it to work in PSE but was delighted that it was working in PS. Today, though, it just began malfunctioning. I have my doubts as to how reliable some of these actions are from these digiscrapping people.
Could I have accidentally done something to mess it up? I haven't done anything lately except download some patterns and brushes from a very reliable source.I doubt I even have the zip files anymore. I had pretty much given up on this action working...until I bought CS5.5 and voila!

I've tried redrawing the shape (which is all I could think of at this point), and I still can't get a hatch in the negative space of this extrusion.

CS5 has suddenly started opening files with the default magnification of 0.12%. This means images appear as tiny specks of dust in a very small window and typing 'cmd-0' has no effect. Typing 'cmd-1' does enlarge the image to actual pixels but the window stays postage stamp size and has to be manually dragged larger. Typing 'cmd-0' again at this stage returns us to 0.12%.
Resetting the zoom tool or anything else I can think of has no effect.

I am having trouble hatching multiple "Arc & line" boundary objects. If there is ony 1 shape mape up of Arcs & Lines it works ok, but if there is more than one, it fails,
TVLn(0) = New TypedValue(0, "line")
Dim FilterLn As New SelectionFilter(TVLn)
' Selection Filter: Arcs
Dim TVArc(0) As TypedValue
TVArc(0) = New TypedValue(0, "Arc")
Dim FilterArc As New SelectionFilter(TVArc)
[code]...

is there a way to extend the hatch if the region is later extended? bd.png
the yellow highlights show the regions that are “empty” in hatch after the boundary has been changed. My current approach is to first delete the hatch, then re-apply it, but it can be very inconvenient if there are multiple regions to change.
Is there a way to automatically associate the existing hatch with new boundary (either extended or shrunk)?

We work in space management and deal with associative spaces every day. As a platform we use ACA 2012, with out own Add-on tool (whch simply groups ACA's own tools in one).
We have issues on a daily-basis with the usable boundaries of associative spaces (the green line indicated in the example attachment). Generally when a floorplan is simple, consisting mainly of 90-degree angles wall intersections, everything works fine. However when we work with floorplans consisting of arched, or even more often slanted walls or walls that meet at different angles, the usable boundaries' lines tend to create a "spike" (labled B. on the attachment) which extends outward from the plan, thus creating i.e a 28m2 space out of a 13m2 space (labled A). We use our own calculation standard, however using BOMA or SIS the issue occurs in the same manner, using SIS its even worse.
Generally we solve these issues by changing wall justifications, deleting and re-creating spaces, etc, etc. This can be a very tedious process, one which takes a long time and time is of the essence!
We are aware that by making the spaces non-associative, we can then manually edit the usable boundary, however this is not an option as we handle a great deal of different floorplans each day, and these plans are updated frequently, so we do not want to send out a drawing which has a problem like this because the next person who edits some of the spaces will most likely come across the same problem again.

My Civil 3D 2013 client application (COM C++) suddenly will not build:
error C4772: #import referenced a type from a missing type library; '__missing_type__' used as a placeholder..fatal error C1084: Cannot read type library file: 'C:/Program Files/Common Files/Autodesk Shared/AecXBase70.tlb': Error loading type library/DLL.
The type library is imported in the following way in StdAfx.h (as I have done for several years now, though with different version (60, 65, 67 etc.) each year):
#import "C:Program FilesCommon FilesAutodesk SharedAecXBase70.tlb" raw_interfaces_only named_guids no_namespace
I have tried to reinstall Civil 3D 2013 but that did not work. I probably also should mention that I have installed Civil 3D 2014, but that was over a week ago and I have been able to build since then.

I've used the Fill>Pattern to tile my seamless patterns tons of times and never had this issue. Suddenly , it started making each tile on the large canvas a different color when I apply Fill>Pattern. At first I thought it was a tip or guide to see the repeat edges , but it shows up in print preview too. What did I do and how do I correct it?

Having some very strange issues with area boundaries used in groups.
I have tested it in RAC 2011, 2012 and 2013 and they all seem to be doing similar things.
grouping them and pasting them is fine - even between levels and even schemes. when i edit them items are excluded on sketch close and even disappear from one scheme to only appear in the scheme that i edited them in. the area still remains in both but only boundaries in one scheme.

How can it be that a hatch object has no area property? Using the AREA command, it says the object has no area.
None shown in properties.
None listed using vlisp (vla-get-Area Obj).
I have seen this before, but why or how it happens.

I've recently migrated from AutoCAD 2008 (non-industry specific) to AutoCAD 2010 so I don't know if this was an issue in 2009.
Back in 2008, when I choose the 'window' option when specifying a plot area, AutoCAD would show the workspace so that I could manually select a windowed plot area, and at the same time the whole workspace would be greyed out except the previously active window area.
This was handy, because we can have as many two dozen title-blocks (and therefore separate viewports) in paperspace, and knowing what plot area I last plotted or added as a saved page setup.
In 2010, it no longer does that. I now have to rely on the dashed border to know where the active plot area is/was (checked 'display printable area' in options>display tab) which I personally don't really like using.

I have a hatched region that clearly has an area, however the geometry properties indicate that there is no area associated. This a a complex region with many PI's. I really don't want to recreate this area.
Is there any way I can create a boundary around the hatch lines?

if i select OK it hatches one i want and one beside it and the boundary it creates is all messed up
if i select NO nothing happens
ive tried to find out how to identify the gaps and ill ive found is to look for the red circles.. mine dont seem to display is there anyway to turn them on? or another way to show the gaps i have so i can close them i always draw with snap on

Essentially, I have an odd shape that I fill in with a hatching. SOMETIMES, it will give me the area in the properties window (or when I use the list command). but other times, it will not give me the area.
I just hatched 4 different (but same general shape) areas, and on 3 of them CAD was able to compute the area, but not the 4th hatched area.
I created all 4 hatches using the exact same steps, so I'm not sure what I could be doing wrong. The CAD Tech at the office cant seem to figure it out either .

I'm having a problem here with hatching in AutoCAD 2000. The existing hatch patterns doesn't fulfill my needs and I need something more specific to hatch a cobble stone area. In my aCAD hatch patterns there's not a good hatch for it and I looked that I can do my own pattern using Notepad etc. but unfortunately I don't have a time to do that.
So, my question is: Is there any simple ways to create your own hatch patterns for example like in Microstation where it is very easy to do. There is an option that I can use cells (blocks in ACAD) as hatch patterns.
Or can I maybe download a custom *.pat file from somewhere and use it?
