I have many PDF files of a plotted drawing and a few DWGFx files that were previously saved. However, I do not have the original DWG source file for the PDF files. I'm using AutoCAD 2012 and used the "XREF" command then "Attach PDF" from top left corner pulldown to save the PDF in DWG format. However, I do not know if I am able to edit from this state. Do I need to buy a PDF to DWG converter instead? If so, is the Print2CAD the best software to use? I see a few free sites listed throughout the message board.
I am an interior design student and my floor plan saved to USB seems to be corrupted now. It keeps saying File is not Valid. I was working on it last night and saved it like normal and today it won't open. This is my only copy of the file and I don't want to start over. How to recover at least part of it? It's on there somehow. It's showing that the file contains 1,024 KB.
when i clicked the x I hit don't save for one drawing i did not want to save but i did not want to close the next drawing yet the same message came up so fast i hit don't save again without realising and deleted 3hrs of work that i really do not want to do again so is there any way i can recover it?
We had to migrate from one domain to annother on our network. This meant that each user had to create a new profile.
Before we migrated I tried to back up the user data from the old user but once I am up an running agian all the AutoCad settings are no longer included. I understand you can export those while you are logged in and can see the macros etc. can you simply move the files that store that information (I can still access all the files from that user I just can't login as that user anymore)
The color, linetype and line width sections of the toolbar no longer show on the working screen but they do show on the toolbar manager. How do I recover them?
My autocad gets a fatal error unhandled exeption error and crashes when I etransmit from the sheet set manager. it hangs for awhile then crashes, and I have to close the application. This is a very xref heavy job with files from all diciplines culminating to create a zip file for the project. It worked with Acad 2012, took a long time, but worked. By the way this is accross all our our new AutoCAD 2013 installations who try to transmit from this project. I've tried others and it works fine. Just this project. Is there any way to recover the shet set dst file?
I had started a new drawing on our template and worked on it for an hour or so. I had not saved it or anything so it was simply titled "Drawing2.dwg." Well, during a simple text command AutoCAD decided to crash. It said it could try to recover the drawing, but when I looked around for it I couldn't find it anywhere.
I've had this happen before...is there ANYTHING that can be done or did I just lose all my work?
I'm using Autocad 2013. My problem is when i use "recover files & xrefs", all the files recovered are saved as a 2013 dwg version. As we all save our files here as 2007 version so when others opened the files they are getting some of the xref files missing in the drawing.
Is there any option to save files in a lower version when i recover?
I have noticed when I go to open a file there is also a recover file. Almost every file I have worked on in the last two weeks has a recover file. This causes problems if I can’t see the entire file name and accidentally start working with the recover file.
does AutoCAD 2012 automatically create recover files? I don't have unexpected shutdowns, I have never been asked to recover or create a recover file.
I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 and everytime I export a model to AutoCAD format I get the message:
"Warning and error occurred during save. We recommend that you run RECOVER on the drawing"
Although it usually finds one fault during Audit or Recover and fixes that, the message still persists in appearing every time I use the export function. Why this happens and how I can sort it out?
when i open my drawing, the text MUST re_cover it is only showing in model space area. How to i get my drawing? is it possible? because this dwg i got from some other contrator.
When I try open a saved CAD LT 2013 file I get an Error message saying 'FATAL ERROR: Out of memory'..The file had crashed while I was working on it and the automated recover files won't open, says: 'drawing file invalid'
I can open other files. What does this mean and can the file be recovered?
I am working with a client who upgraded to 2013 and their profile settings have disappeared. They also are not able to open hatch patterns that have been copied to the default folder, which is added to the support files search path.
I am not a CAD user or expert with the application, but am required to provide IT support for a client that uses the product.
Steps to recover the old profile settings and save the hatch patterns so they are available each time the application is opened?
Bought CD for photoshop 2 years ago and someone accidently threw out the box. Had to restart my computer but could not initiate photoshop again because I cannot locate the box with the ID on it. There must be a way to activate it without buying a whole new CD
recovering a file. I have been working in Photoshop for hours, saving often and needed to send a preview to a client.
I saved as a pdf (checking the button to not save layers) and then saved as a psd. The file name kept saying .pdf so I saved the file as a .psd again. This did not work and I was still working in a pdf. So, stupidly, I closed the file and opened the .psd and it cam up as a flattened image.
I opened the .pdf and it also came up as a flattened image. I have the save recovery option checked and it autosaves every 15 minutes. Is there any way to bring back my file with saved layers?
I've been working on this file for a long time, then I tried to work on it tonight, and Photoshop gave me a message that said "Could not complete your request because the file is empty.
how to recover a corrupt CDR. The Backup file is corrupt as well. Message: "Error Reading"I tried importing it, converting to PDF and using other machines to try and open it.
I finished the DVD, looks great, now I want to make another DVD the next day. How do I recover the project? In VSX3 made it really easly to recover DVD projects with all the menus, chapters and any other setting. Where does VSX4 save the finish project at?
I recently transferred all my work from a work computer to my mac at home. i am unable to access my work computer until October as we are having a 'break'. However, I have a deadline for September 15th and I need all my files. Some older files open perfectly fine but I fear there was a problem in downloading-perhaps due to my haste to leave and enjoy the beautiful weather! I tried downloading a Remo Repair software but unfortunately this was unable to launch.
Basic notes:
Created on Windows computer cs5
Trying to open on Mac cs5
Sd card used to transfer-couldn't eject, this may be the problem
I was working with a comic illustration, straight 10 hours in a .PSD file without closing it (Of course I saved REALLY often). That includes making path layers in the early process. And when I was painting with those lines generated from paths, I noticed that all of my path layers are gone!! Deleting the paths must be some kind of accidents (like hitting del. key trying to delete contents in the layers, but it deleted some unintentionally selected paths instead. I want a fix to this.) but I can't figure it out how all of them are deleted.
All of my progresses depends on those paths, and that means I will have to repeat the 10 hours all over again.
I have tried many ways to recover it but nothing works:
1. The history state which I was making those paths can't be recovered. It was deleted. If I went to the snapshot state, it's only a raw scanned draft. in other words, the history state is somewhere between snapshot and earliest history state.
2. I tried a file recovery tool. It could dig up temp files but they are all useless since they are made each time I was saving, and I can go back only half an hour with that. This is a case which "saving often" backfires. Also I don't know which file else I should recover.
3. I looked in PSAutoRecover folder and found nothing. I have not been monitoring the folder so I can't tell if auto-saves were made or not, but I am sure auto-save was turned on.
4. There are also temp files in the root of cache drive. I tried copying them into another drive but it said Photoshop is using the file, and they were all gone once I unlocked it with force.
I edited a lot of pictures and saved them somewhere in my external hard drive, but don't know where, i'm afraid i might have overlaid the folder with a previous version of it so, my question is, is there any way to see where you've saved your edited pictures, or, does Photoshop save it in somewhere else besides the folder that you've "save as…"'ed ?
Having deleted the CS5 built-in actions, I tried to recover them by deactivating, uninstalling, deleting remaining folders/files, cleaning the registry, and reinstalling from scratch. But the built in actions did not install!
I exported a project as a pdf by clicking Save As under the file menu, then I saved the original psd by choosing Save As again and selecting PSD this time. When I came back to the project today all the layers had been merged into one. I _never_ merged them myself. Is there any way I can recover all that work or have I been hosed by this "feature"?
I was working on a Photoshop project and then saved it as a JPEG, but accidentally closed it out without saving it as a project (.psd)... how do I recover the file?
I have two tabs open: the first one the "parent file" and the second one the "smart object" from a layer of the "parent file". I accidentally "unsmart" the object on the "parent file" and close both tabs...
Question: Is there a way to recover a closed smart object in photoshop? In photoshop directory?
Was asked to troubleshoot a Win 7 PS13 (CS6) crash today - first time to my knowledge PS has ever crashed! On restart, no Auto Recover option. All work lost. Did some checking.
Found two folders: 1. On the boot disk, found Usersxxxx.......AutoRecover 2. On the exclusive scratch disk - set on G: - found the folder G:PSAutoRecover (as well as the PS temp file in the root of G:).
Both the AutoRecover folders were empty.Set auto save time to 5 minutes... Rebooted. Restarted PS and created a new file - test01.psd. Saved it. Did some work, didn't save... kept checking... (played games for 15 mins). Checked. Both AutoRecover files remained empty.
Crashed the system (forced shutdown). Auto recover option and the test file was not showing up in the recent files list... opened the original test01 .psd. No work subsequent to the original save showed up. Nor any recovery option. Did some more work on the file... just checked... both the AutoRecover folders are still empty.(Just closed PS and saw that the PS temp file deleted itself. Both the AutoRecovery folders remain - empty.} So, my questions are:
1. Is there a 'Permissions' attribute i need to set? Or... 2. Is the AutoRecover messed up? Or... 3. Is the installation messed up and should i advise a reinstallation?
