Apr 1, 2009how to recover a corrupt CDR. The Backup file is corrupt as well. Message: "Error Reading"I tried importing it, converting to PDF and using other machines to try and open it.

Now I can view it in the preview but whenever I try and open the file it stops about 30% - 40% through opening and then crashes Corel and shuts the program down. Now I have tried to import the file as well but the same thing happens. I don't want to have to redraw the entire brochure. The file is about 186MB.

Jan 17, 2014There is a very important AI file I've been working on. After upgrading to Maverick this morning is seems corrupt -- though I don't think its the file itself since I can retreive versions in time machine from before the Mavericks, and they have the same problem.
Well when I open this file (and so far it is only this file) I get the following error: Can't open the illustration. The illustration ended unepxpectedly. <the a bunch of gibberish>

Nov 26, 2012I am an interior design student and my floor plan saved to USB seems to be corrupted now. It keeps saying File is not Valid. I was working on it last night and saved it like normal and today it won't open. This is my only copy of the file and I don't want to start over. How to recover at least part of it? It's on there somehow. It's showing that the file contains 1,024 KB.

Sep 8, 2007I've been working on a 32 page project for a week now and while working I noticed that the miniature preview was lost and replaced with a "pen" icon. It's usually a sign of something bad and after closing the file I tried to open it again.
Even though windows says the file is 173 MB, the file is blank. Nothing appears in the object manager either. What do I do to reveal the content? I have deadline tomorrow? The backup is corrupt too for some reason. A backup that gets corrupt - whats the use of it?

May 20, 2011I opened my CorelDRAW X3 to find that the colours on screen look corrupted.
I use the "Optimised for professional output setting" in Colour Management which I never change.
Now, rather than looking fairly close to printed colours, they look very bright... too bright! (see screen shot)
I think that i have had this problem before and i ended up uninstalling and reinstalling. I would like to avoid this if i can as have have a lot of custom settings that i would have to re-do.

May 16, 2011how to fix a corrupted CDR file? I was working on a file of 159+ MB file when the power suddenly went off and I couldn't open the file when the power was back. I know the file could have been corrupted and I don't have a backup of the file also.
BTW, an interesting thing to note is that I tried to open the file is 7zip as if it were a zip file. To my surprise there was the file along with some xml files, but unfortunately I could not extract it as it showed up a message File is corrupt.

May 1, 2013When I try to import a pdf file that I have scanned with my printer, corel X6 says either "file is corrupt" or something about not enough memory to perform the action. I have 2 different work stations with 2 separate printers (both the same brand and model) and have tried scanning and importing and get the same message from both now.
It always worked before. I can open the pdf document in Adobe and it is fine, so I don't think the file is corrupt, rather it is something in corel that is stopping it from importing. There are no updates outstanding for my computer.

Nov 10, 2011From time to time when saving a file the file gets corrupted. When trying to open the file, only a blank page is visible. Trying to open the file as zip says "error in packed file..." This happens several times a day (we are 5 users and this happens to everyone).
The out of memory issue is also a huge problem for us. This happens several times a day, often during printing.
Are Corel taking these issues seriously or don't you care about professional users which are dependent on reliable tools?
3 users at Win7-64, 2 at XP-32. All computers are top notch with all patches/updates installed.
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Recover CDR Files That Won't Open?
Mar 10, 2010Half a year ago I started on a project with a CD-cover that wasn't finished. Now when I want to open them, It's impossible. If I click on the files X4 opens and immediately crashes. On all CDR files. Same thing with X5. but I can open a CDR file in the folder next to this. Even the backup files seem to be corrupt. The CPT-files do however open fine.
If I start the program first and then open or import a CDR file, the progress bar halts at about 50 % and then nothing much happens.
Any chance of recovering the files, or do I have to rebuild everything?
I know one strange thing happened when I created the first file. I saved the Digipak format as a new page format and then that format stuck as default page size. I tried many times to reset it to A4, but I didn't succeed with that until I reset the workspace.
I checked the CDR files in ZIP format. In the XML file I coud see that the industry was identified as "music". How could that happen?

Aug 20, 2006ive just recovered a whole bunch of pictures from a crashed harddrive. The problem is most of them (all of them) are corrupted (i guess their corrupted). Is there any way to fix the pictures? There should be because the windows thumbnails show the pictures without errors, but as soon as i open them in eg picture viewer or firefox, they are corrupt. I cant even open the pictures in photoshop. PS (CS2) just gives me: "Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the jpeg data".
This is what the pics look like (small one is windows thumbnail, big one is picture opened in "Windows picture and fax viewer".)
As you can see the thumbnail has no errors.
How do i fix the picture so i dont get errors after opening it?

Jan 25, 2012I'm using Photoshop 5.5 and OS Lion. The Finder crashed while doing a Search. When I rebooted and opened Photoshop, every Photoshop file I had worked on that afternoon, plus two from the day before, was corrupt - nothing else was affected. Desktop preview icons and file sizes looked fine, but when I opened the files they were just bands of color and noise. All layers were gone and the size was incorrect. The jpgs I had saved from the psd files were also corrupt. Adobe blames Apple and Apple blames Adobe.

Oct 20, 2008Having troubles with a registered copy of Photoshop 6, I uninstalled it and when I tried to reinstall, the AutoPlay feature of the CD did not work. I then used Explore to find the Photoshop .exe file and could not find it on the CD. I tried using the Windows Add Programs feature, and it said that it could not find a .exe file on the CD. Called Adobe customer service who referred me to technical support and while they were able to confirm that my CD was registered, they were able to offer no help as the software is outdated. It has been installed 3 times, originally on Windows 2000 and has not been working correctly on Windows XP Home Edition.

not all images but almost all my jpeg files when I try to open them...in any program, I.E., windows preview, photoshop, illustrator, u name it...they won't open and I get this message...
"unknown or invalid JPEG marker type is found"
I never had a problem with the files before...now I got all these pics that I need, they are very important...and I can't open them...the file sizes are the same if that matters....
Lightroom :: Catalog Is Corrupt
Oct 17, 2012I've recently gone from pc to mac. I've imported photos from pc/elements 9 to mac/LR4. I'm in the process of getting the photos organized in LR4 when I got a message that my catalog was corrupt. When trying to repair I got a message that the catalog can not be repaired. I have not backed up my catalog.
It shows that my photos are on Macintosh HD / Users / bateson / Pictures / SteveLightroom4Pictures. Is there a way to fix or redo the catalog? Or do I need to start over and rebuild a new catalog by re-importing all the files to a new catalog? It has taken me a month to import and reorganized from elements 9.
Lightroom :: Corrupt Catalog In 5.3?
Feb 16, 2014Recently I tried to move 17000 files in one folder from one hdd to another. The move failed: only 770 photos were moved. However, only 92 still showed up in the catalog. Here's the sequence of events:
1. I tried to move the folder Master_P from drive E to drive G WITHIN Lightroom.
2. LR only moved 770 photos out of the 17000+ photos in Master_P and then stopped.
3. The Library only showed 92 out of those 770 photos in G.
4. Hoping to try again I moved those 92 WITHIN LR back to E.
5. Then I discovered the other photos in G in subfolders, but they were not in the Library on G even though I had used LR for the move.
6. Those 690 photos somehow disappeared from the catalog. They were not on drive E and they were not in E in the Library. They were also not in G in the Library.
7. Hoping that their entries were still in the catalog I used the OS (Win7 64bit) to move the 690 from G back to E to see if the catalog would pick them up. They didn't pick up.
Now I have all the photo files in old drive, but the catalog doesn't have the 690 or so files. I do have three backups of the .lrcat file. What do I do now?
Do I copy over the corrupt .lrcat file? Do I have to copy over the thousands of preview subfolders, too? Or what?
Then, since my E drive is full, how do I get these photos to the new, larger G drive and have the catalog accurate? I have about 50,000 files total to move.

When I'm in photo shop doing photo editing, zooming in/out and doing lots of processor heavy maneuvers, my file once in a while becomes garbelled and corrupt. Why is this happening? Is there a way of preventing it? It's annoying having to start over epsecially when you have a PSD file with many layers.
