Nov 22, 2012We have three old drawings (saved in the year 2009) that we are trying to open with AutoCAD 2013 and we keep getting the message "Drawing File is not valid".
I have done the following:
Files do have a file size. Sometimes, files have 0 KB size, but not these ones.
We tried to open the files using AutoCAD 2013, AutoCAD Architecture 2012 and DWG TrueView (downloaded today!) and in all instances we get the same message.
We tried recovering and the message is "unable to recover the drawing file"
We tried inserting as a block and, in the command line we get "...was created by an incompatible version of AutoCAD *Invalid*" Again, the file is genuinely older than our current AutoCAD.

Jan 13, 2012I have a drawing that has erp data (somehow) attached to plain text (acadText). I have been unable to determine where this data is embedded or 'hidden" in the drawing - The attached drawing has three text entities, each with erp data attached.
Most of my VBA programming is in Inventor and my AutoCAD coding is not that strong. I have tried listing the text, browsed the drawing database (vLisp editor), tried the data extraction tool and run (entget (car (entsel))) and so far have been unable to find the embedded data.
I am trying to access the embedded data because the erp system updates the visible text with the BOM item number when the BOM is changed in the erp screen (which is very time consuming and a big pain), however this fails when our drafting guys take a shortcut and change the number manually. With multiple balloons, we cannot tell which one(s) have been changed manually. I am hoping to code a macro that displays the embedded data which can be compared to the visible text value.

Jun 6, 2012(Running AutoCAD 2010 on Win 7, Core i7, 8 GB RAM. All AutoCAD 2010 service packs are up-to-date)
I have a drawing file that keeps giving me this message when I try to open it :
"Unable to open this drawing.It contains incorrect or or corrupted information.The RECOVER command may be able to restore undamaged material from this drawing."
When I recover the file I sometimes get a message that 1 error was fixed, sometimes no errors were detected. Either way, when I close it, and try re-opening (whether or not I SAVE it first), I get the same message. I have tried RECOVERALL, AUDIT, AECTOACAD (those AEC objects can be a problem) and tried changing the AutoCAD version it saves to (eg 2007). None of this works. I also discovered that if I WBLOCK the entire drawing it fixes it for ONE reopen, but becomes corrupted if I save it. This drawing is used as a 'template' (not a .dwt, just a "starting point") for other drawings, so the corruption is spreading.......
I am upgrading to a newr version of AutoCAD soon (hopefully that will fix it?), but this is really slowing down produciton in the meantime....

Sep 10, 2012My catalog is damaged after the power of my hard disk suddenly turned off.
I was importing my images to my catalog when the power was switched off. This caused an error in LR3.
And now I can't open the catalog anymore. I already created a new one and tried to import the damaged catalog into it but this didn't worked.
My images are still ok. All I want to recover are my tags and my collections as I had spent quick some into it.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Recover Unnamed / Unsaved Drawing?
Dec 1, 2011I had started a new drawing on our template and worked on it for an hour or so. I had not saved it or anything so it was simply titled "Drawing2.dwg." Well, during a simple text command AutoCAD decided to crash. It said it could try to recover the drawing, but when I looked around for it I couldn't find it anywhere.
I've had this happen before...is there ANYTHING that can be done or did I just lose all my work?

Jan 31, 2011I am using AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 and everytime I export a model to AutoCAD format I get the message:
"Warning and error occurred during save. We recommend that you run RECOVER on the drawing"
Although it usually finds one fault during Audit or Recover and fixes that, the message still persists in appearing every time I use the export function. Why this happens and how I can sort it out?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 :: Recover CDR Files That Won't Open?
Mar 10, 2010Half a year ago I started on a project with a CD-cover that wasn't finished. Now when I want to open them, It's impossible. If I click on the files X4 opens and immediately crashes. On all CDR files. Same thing with X5. but I can open a CDR file in the folder next to this. Even the backup files seem to be corrupt. The CPT-files do however open fine.
If I start the program first and then open or import a CDR file, the progress bar halts at about 50 % and then nothing much happens.
Any chance of recovering the files, or do I have to rebuild everything?
I know one strange thing happened when I created the first file. I saved the Digipak format as a new page format and then that format stuck as default page size. I tried many times to reset it to A4, but I didn't succeed with that until I reset the workspace.
I checked the CDR files in ZIP format. In the XML file I coud see that the industry was identified as "music". How could that happen?
AutoCAD LT :: Copy Some Data From Drawing 2 To Drawing 1
Nov 2, 2011I have a user that is having a problem with two particular drawings within AutoCAD.
drawing 1 is 4MB
drawing 2 is 17MB
I believe he is attempting to copy some data from drawing 2 to drawing 1.
*nearly* Everytime he opens these two files and switches to 'Model' autocad crashes displaying the message -

AutoCAD 2010 :: Unable To View Object Data
May 28, 2013This is an AutoCAD 2011 related question about being unable to see under properties objects that I have attached to polylines in AutoCAD Map3D.
I have created an map3d .dwg that the polylines and points have attributes attached (objects). However, when I access the same file in plain AutoCAD nothing appears under properties.
Is is a format, import settings tweak or simply it can not be done?

Jan 7, 2013How do I get my Sheet Set Manager to open up each time I open a CAD drawing? I turned it off and can't remember how to turn it back on. I use command SSautoopen, set to 1 but doesn't alway work. Sometimes if I close AutoCad and reopen it I can got to drop down menu and click on .dst extension and it will open but if I close out of it it won't open again unless I restart AutoCAD. I thought I used a command from the Express Tool menu but can't find it.

AutoCAD Map 3D :: Unable To Update Data Connection Source For All Map Layers
Jan 13, 2014How can I update the data connection source for all the display map layers in my map layouts? If I want to change the shapefile a layer is representing I can not get the layer to point to the new shapefile.
The layer seems to always remember the name/location of the old shapefile. If I export the layer and modify the value in Notepad then load a new layer from the saved and modified layer file it will change. However I would have to do this for every layer I want to change.
Is there another way to change the property of this layer in AutoCAD?
Example: I create a drawing and layout with a Display layer that points to the FDO data for shapefiles "C:datauildings.shp".
I then give the drawing to another worker hows data is on "E:DATABUILDINGS.SHP" the data connection to the layer cannot be updated that I can see.

When I get to the drag & drop step to attach the data I get the following error messages:
Invalid Wordspace file format: My DocumentsTEST.xlsx
Invalid Wordspace file format: My DocumentsTEST.accdb
Not to be deterred, I saved the source files back to earlier xls and mdb file versions and was successful at attaching the data in both cases, but Map reported that there were no tables when I tried to define a link template.
AutoCad :: Can't Close A Drawing Either Without Exiting / Try To Open Another Drawing
Nov 10, 2011I downloaded multi-batch as someone here said they like it for batch plotting. Once installed, however, it has changed a setting in AutoCAD. I can no longer open more than one drawing at a time. If I have a drawing open and try to open another drawing it asks me if I want to save the current open drawing.
I can not close a drawing either without exiting AutoCAD or trying to open another drawing. I un-installed multi-batch but it did not fix the problem.
