AutoCAD 2010 :: Text Will Not Display In BOOTCAMP - 2012
Mar 6, 2012
I have files given to me by my teacher who works in an architecture firm. The files open on our school computers (Windows) and display the text that blocks such as those for sections and annotations have. However on my MAC i am running WINDOWS7 on bootcamp. The text is missing when i import or open the dwg files with the blocks.
I have big problem with Text in AutoCAD drawings. Text is missing and I can't write in new drawings as well. We have different systems xp x 64, xp x84 , windiows 7 x64 and windows 7 x 84. Different AutoCAD’s: 2010 2011,2012 and the same problem. The problem occurs in many files, so not only in this one. When text bloc don’t work it showing every time, when we want to write, on down ribbon “** Undefined symbol 101 and 102 ...” . When we want to open stiles for text AutoCAD Mechanical have critical error: “Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0000 Exception at e0533c85h” and closed. We have different computers with different graphical cards. We installed already SP 2 for 2012 and other versions are too upgraded. It looks like this problem isn’t connected with hardware. We are using local licenses. You can see this problem on attached pictures.
We just installed AutoCAD 2012 on a machine that was running 2006. (32 bit on Windows XP Pro).
We opened a file that was created in 2006 and the Text is missing from the file. I tried to create a new file and when I start typing text, nothing happens.
I installed the service pack update and hot fix and still doesn't work. I've tried re-booting and nothing happens. I tried to go in and migrate the tools from 2006 but it was already done.
note, that this has also been installed on another computer and everything worked fine.
After closing and reopening my command prompt, I find that it is now at the bottom left of the screen and no longer part of the main graphics window. How can I get it to display at the bottom of the main display?
I have recently purchased a MacBook Pro and originally thought that I would be able to switch between boot camp and parrallels to run Inventor. After reading several threads there seems to be a problem with the Inventor Licience breaking if you switch from on environment to the other.
Has tried using the Lic. Transfer Utility when switching between the two. I know it sounds like a hassel, but shouldn't that work? I sure that isn't how it Utility was designed, but since the program thinks that you have changed computers?
I haven't tried this personally, but really that Inventor running thru boot camp would be the best environment for serious work and I could use parallels when I need to less intensive design or review?
I have loaded parallels 6 and windows 7 as a virtual machine with boot camp. I haven't loaded Inventor but plan on doing that today?
A dwg obtained and developed from autocad 2009 was opened with autocad LT 2012 but could not display on the LAYOUT, although it does show on the MODEL.
I have tried to SAVE AS using the 2012 Autocad LT, but the drawing still wont display on the LAYOUT.
I have a brand new HP Probook 4530s with the correct requirements to run LT 2012 as well as a certified and tested graphics card and latest drivers, but as soon as I try using offset or trim functions while drawing, my screen goes blank for about 4 seconds and an error message below tells me my Display Driver has stopped working and has recovered.
No matter the screen resolution settings, it still does the same, also the laptop is still cool, so can't be a heat issue.
In previous versions when you hovered over an invisible axis in the browser you could see the whole line in the model. Now you just get the end points displaying as yellow circles and it can be quite difficult to see where the line is. What's the point of this change? Is there a way to get the old behaviour back?
I'm working on one of our standard layouts for a client. Our typical drawing setup is the base drawing file, surrounded by our Xref'ed border. On said border Xref, we have all the information that does not change between drawings (Revision history, address of job site, etc). The only things that change - and, thus, are not on the xref - are the title of each individual sheet and their number; in the case of these objects, they are located on the drawing file itself in the appropriate position. They are, however, the same font as the text in the Xref - "Standard". Or, at least, they're supposed to be.
The text in the base drawing file seems to be a different version of the text from the Xref - a much blockier, sharper-edged version than the Xref text. My first response was "Okay - I'll just copy/paste the text from the border into my base drawing file, and force the existing text to match the properties of the imported text."
This, however, did not work. The imported text automatically assumed the same form as the existing text. Here's a screenshot from the base drawing, illustrating this (The "Mechanical Plan" also exists on the base drawing, and not the Xref):
I copied the existing text from the base drawing (In this case, the "Mechanical Plan") and pasted it directly into the Xref itself, to see what would happen. Apparently, it wants to stay blocky:
In the latter example, I even tried to force the blocky text to assume the properties of the smooth text via MA (Match properties). I specifically need to make the text in the base drawing conform to the style that the text is assuming in the Xref - which is to say "Smooth."
I have been designing a school project for the last 2 months using the student version of inventor 2014. The realistic views have been working the whole time before but now it is not working. I click on it, and it just switches back to shaded view. If I click on shadows, or reflections I get the following message.
"One or more visual effects in use are not supported by the current system graphics hardware. We strongly recommend running the Diagnostics check in applications option for detailed information.Would you like to run hardware Diagnostics now?"
After selecting Yes I get the following,The graphics driver is fully certified.
Graphics Hardware Description: OpenGL Microsoft Corporation GDI Generic
Graphics driver file vga.dll is version 6.1.7600.16385
Using the GDI-Generic driver
The display is using 32-bit color
Click the OK button to place diagnostic information on the clipboard.
I hit OK and everything closes. This is left on my clipboard.
This graphics driver is fully certified. Graphics Hardware Description: OpenGL Microsoft Corporation GDI Generic Graphics driver file vga.dll is version 6.1.7600.16385 Using the GDI-Generic driver The display is using 32-bit color
I'm doing a program in Visual Basic 2010. In one of the forms I put a button that when clicked must open AutoCAD 2012 and make a drawing in it. The user will decide where to save it.The steps are these:
1. I added the references Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop and Autodesk.AutoCAD.Interop.Common to the Visual Basic Project. That's OK.
Dim acadApp As New AcadApplication 'Create an instance of an AutoCAD Application AcadApp.Application.Visible = True 'Show the instance of the AutoCAD Application Dim acadDoc As AcadDocument 'Create an intance of an AutoCAD Document acadDoc = acadApp.Documents.Open("C:Respaldo TesisDibujo2.dwg") 'Open a Document called Dibujo 2 'Draw a line Dim PT1(2) As Double [code].....
My LT 2012 for Mac does not show a tool for "display all layers" in the layer pallet. I've fished around for some option to add this tool or expand the upper row of existing tools, but can't seem to find it. Does this feature exist in LT for Mac? If so, any guidance on how to make this tool active? Right now, I have to select all layers in the panel and then click the display button of one to change all selected, but I notice in tutorials for Windows based versions there is an icon for this function.
heres the problem we had created a slope style in 2012 15% - 25% and 25% - 100%. done this many times with no problems. so we upgrade and open the file in 2014 now there is a large white area that c3d is filling in.
I recently loaded several versions of AutoCAD on to a Windows 7 machine. ALL versions will open a drawing if double-clicked from windows explorer, but if I try to open through AutoCAD, the program freezes as soon as I click on the "Open" button. This is true for AutoCAD 2010 through 2012.
Machine Specs:
Dell Optiplex 990 250GB HD 8GB Ram I7-2600 proc AMD Radeon HD 6670 (1Gb) Video Card
I also cannot open multiple instances of ANY version of AutoCAD in Windows 7.
I am finding the layer combo control in 2010 an annoyance. The drop down box does not access as many layers as did the version in 2009, and I find myself continually searching through the drop down box to reference a particular layer. How to rectify to have it similar to 2009?
I have Photoshop CS5 installed on my OSX. I'm planning to install windows 7 via bootcamp. I read a long time ago there was a way I can get a windows key for my same program for a reduced price? Or am I mistaken? I can't remember where I read it. I think it was buried in a forum somewhere and not among the top posts. I don't know what validity it had.
That said, do I have to buy a whole another copy to use on the windows partition? I hope not. It would be nice to be able to run photoshop on both partitions without too much extra cost. But if it costs a whole new copy of photoshop I'll have to accept having to reboot my computer between using photoshop and the windows programs I am editing for.
I had to edit this. Parallels is something I really want to use. I keep getting those mixed up. Right now the cost is out of my budget, but parallels is another alternative I am hoping for in the long run and saving up for. I'm thinking of getting it in a few months. I still wish there can be a more streamlined way I can transfer graphic files between both partitions without having to jump through a lot of hoops.
Prior to that, the linetype as seen in the attached screen short displayed the same for both the alignment style (green) and the polyline (white). After 2.1, they display at different scales. Why? There now seems to be a problem with linetype scaling in the style definitions.
The same linetype is used in the alignment style as is assigned to the polyline. The scale is the same for both (in the alignment style definition and as assigned to the polyline).
The only thing that changed is that on Friday morning, I installed the update 2.1 and this is what things looked like in existing model files when I opened them that displayed correctly when I went home on Thursday. Open this file on my computer and it displays according to the attached screen shot. Open the exact same file on another team member's computer and they display at the same scale.
I am running Windows 8. I have used multiple .NET Framework removal/repair tools, tried uninstalling all versions of .NET and reinstalling 4.0 from its official Microsoft standalone installer. However, every time I try to install 4.0, I recieve a message stating that it or a higher version of .NET is already installed.
Upon further research, I was informed that the .NET 4.5 Framework is an integral part of Windows 8 that cannot be uninstalled.
I cannot access any of the tools I need to in the program, so it is basically rendered useless (don't tell me to just use shortcuts because that is extreemely tedious and painful to make work properly, ive tried it). I have also thought about just installing Revit 11' and using that, but it is no longer available from Autodesk!
I have been having problems with Autocad 2012 (running on Windows 7/64bit) where it keeps getting hung up and I get the spinning wheel and the (not responding) message... I notice this happens most often when I am editing attributes of a block, editing text (by double click or through the properties window), or printing to PDF. I am unable to shut down autocad, Windows 7 will not let me end the process in the task manager, and I have to shut off the power on my laptop to force it to shut down. On the few occasions where I got the window to close, Autocad would not re-open, the start up screen would just get stuck at Initializing..
how to disable F1 in autocad 2012. How to do this in 2012 version. The F1 key doesn't appear in the CUI under keyboard shortcuts. My internet connection goes off and on and when it's off hitting the F1 key freezes my computer. so I need to disable it.
I'm trying to import a pdf underlay in AutoCAD 2012. However, every time I have imported it, the frame of the underlay shows up, but the pdf itself doesn't show up.
Contrast = 100 Fade = 0 Monochrome = No Show underlay = Yes Path is correct
I've tried importing image underlays (PNG files), and they work fine. Also, the pdf file is pretty big (about 100 MB), so I didn't know if that affected its ability to display. How to get this to show up?
How do I get rid of this "pin point" in my display. It shows up when displaying an isometric or perspective view. I would like to make a nice screenshot without it. There must be a variable somewhere?
I use a user-defined hatch often - just 45 degree lines say 4" apart in model space. In 2009 I could make this annotative and the paper distance between those lines would remain the same as long as I made sure the hatch had the appropriate annotive scales associated with it.
In 2012 when I try to do the same thing, the hatch stays at the same Model space spacing in every viewport even though the viewports have different annotative scale AND the hatch has matching annotative scales.
