AutoCAD 2010 :: Removing MAP Feature In DWG
Dec 12, 2012
I work with a colleague who is running AutoCAD MAP. When he makes a block or saves a drawing, at the origin is a 3D, downward pointing arrow which in 2D plan view obscures anything around the origin. I open his blocks or drawings in ACAD2012 or 2013 with the same issue. In plan view, the 3d arrow appears as a circle with radial lines running out from the center. If I save the drawing in my ACAD that feature is still there.
I've attached a png screenshot of what I'm talking about.
Is there any way to get rid of that feature, which is apparently coming from his MAP version of ACAD? I've looked for settings on his machine and on mine. I have played with the Workspace setting. I've looked in Options for anything. Maybe there is a system variable. How to control the visibility of this 3D arrow in ACAD?

Using the shell feature. I have used a bit in the past and its always done what I want. This go around what I want is to shell without removing any outside walls, which it does no matter I seem to try. I can easily add a new outter wall back in, but if I can shell without removing an outter wall it would be just that much cleaner in my tree.

I have a number of lines that will not fillet because they are non-coplaner. Is there a way to globally edit all the lines in a drawing to set the Z coordinate to zero rather than having to choose each line?

how I can disable the feature that highlights external references when they are selected in the xref manager. When large drawings are referenced (and many of them), selecting references in the xref manager takes a lot of wasted time. It seems like each xref needs to regen just to select it in the manager. I know which referenced drawings I want to select and I don't need the visual clues, so I'd like to dump that feature if at all possible.

~ I want to purge the color yellow from autocad. ~
Is it possible to override all the colors of an existing *.DWG to a Monochrome Format? I want to be able to open any autocad file and veiw everything in black and white IN MODEL SPACE.
I am not interested in 'changing layer colors' or 'manually changing blocks to the right color.' Right now, I explode the entire drawing (several times depending on how deep something is grouped) and change the color to by layer, but sometimes blocks become contaminated and lose all their data. (In addition, I am not interested in plotting in Monochrome.)
If this task is impossible, is it possible to change the definition of the color "yellow." What I mean by the previous statement is to trick autocad into thinking it is using 'yellow' when it is actually using a different color. Sort of like an induced color blindness.
SUMMARY: I don't want to change a color FROM yellow, I just don't want yellow TO EXIST.

I seem to have lost the ability to add or remove an annotative scale for a single item (piece of text, block etc). I've always picked the annotative scale in the properties box and then hit the box at the right which brought up a small dialogue box where I could add or remove scales for the item that I'd highlighted. When I hit that box now, or the similar box in the right click menu nothing happens. AutoCAD acts like the box is present, but it isn't. The right click option of remove current scale doesn't work either as it seems to remove the scale from multiple items.
I have recently gone from two monitors to one (it's a real bummer). Is it possible that the dialogue box is open somewhere I can't find it? I have hit the show desktop button and it isn't there.

I’m currently working on getting a system for easier plant layout management. Part of which is condensing what started as 195 mostly random layers into about 15 usable layers.
Problem:
I have about 28 more layers that need to get rid of and I can’t delete them because there are lines assigned to them. However, when I hide all the layers I need so that only the unnecessary layers are showing, there’s nothing there.
Side Note:
I know this problem is most likely because there were layers applied to features deep within blocks. I just don’t want to go through the 700+ block to check each layer assigned to each line.
(This file I was given to start with is a mess. Examples: Some of the blocks have the same exact feature that’s buried 7 blocks deep with no features added to justify an extra bock being there. Some of the blocks aren’t even being used in the layout. Name of the block has no coloration with the actual thing it represents. Stuff like that…)
Question:
Is there a way of hunting down these layers in the blocks to delete / change them without checking each individual block? Or is it possibly because the layer i need to get rid of is applied to a block that’s not being used in the layout?

I have a block that contains attributes. When I select the block, you can see all the nodes/insert points from the attributes within the text. I was wondering if there is anyway to have the block only show the insertion point of the block and not the attributes? The attached image shows what I am talking about.

I'm trying to create a feature line to use as a breaklline for the bottom of a ditch. I click on the first contour, elev.678, accept the elevation, click the next contour, select T for transition, then accept the elevation, 677. I would like to end up with a feature line having a first node elev. 678, end node elev. 677, slope -4% (contours are 25' apart). Instead, The first node is 678, slopes @ -1.33% to an inserted node, elev. 677.1, then slopes at -21.88% to end node elev. 677. What am I doing wrong? I don't see a lot of options here when creating (drawing) a feature line. Should I be using something else to accomplish this task?

I have been working with some GIS data in the form of SHP files in autocad map 3D 2011. On one of my layers I have started getting "Feature was not saved in the target feature source" when I try to check in my data. In total there are 308 errors in the data table, all of which were features I deleted. They all have a featID of null and I cannot remove them from the data table. I need to fix these errors without going back and starting over.

I am running Autodesk Map3D 2012 and I need to label my feature points no matter if they overlap or not.The Map3D documention refers to a check box that will allow what I believe I need- but I cannot find the checkbox in the style editor. Here's a clip from the Autocad documentation:
To allow labels to obscure points on the selected layer..In the Display Manager , select the point layer. Click the Style button. In the Style Editor, click Allow Other Labels To Obscure Feature Symbols On This Layer.

Drawing A has a grid system Xref-ed into it. It also has a block reference in it, repeated in various places throughout the drawing.
I Xref-ed the grid into the block to check something, and now I can't get it out. This means that the grid now repeats all over Drawing A as well and is generally being a nuisance.
If I try to unload the Xref within the block, it unloads it in Drawing A too. If I try to detach it from the block, it returns this message: Xref [Xref name] has multiple references. Not detached. If I try to detach the Xred from Drawing A, it returns the same message.
How do I unload the same Xref that occurs in a block in a drawing, and in the drawing itself, independently of each other?

I'm just finishing up with a command that sets up custom paperspaces for our designers, and once it's done, it deletes the default Layout1 and Layout2 paperspace. The error i'm getting though is the following:
If a drawing contains Layout1 and Layout2, both are deleted as they should be
If a drawing contains Layout1 but not Layout2
or
If a drawing contains Layout2 but not Layout1
I get an error and it crashes. This seems really stupid i know, but i must be doing something wrong here. I'm using if statements to determine if Layout1 exists, then delete it, and if Layout2 exists, then delete it. However, it seems that every time, if one of those layouts are missing, it still assumes it's there, tries to delete it, and errors out because it doesn't exist. I've tried many variations of "if" statements.
My
public class CHDelete
{
// This function will delete Layout1 and Layout2

I have the AutoCad 2011 lt disc's along with the case that has the serial number and product key. A co-worker of mine installed it on his laptop and used it for about a year. My co-worker was let go. He left without his laptop and a new IT person reformatted his laptop. I then took the disc's and installed them onto my desktop. I did this about a year ago with the intention of learning AutoCad. I had no trouble installing this. I'm pretty sure the license was for a single user, (according to my co-worker).
My desktop is very old and needs to be replaced. I want to install this onto a new desktop.
I don't know when I will be gettng a new computer.(budget thing) Is there a way to remove this from my computer for now and wait untill I get a new one? I don't want to loose the license on my old computer due to a catastrophic failure.
To make it easy can I just uninstall this from the old and then to install on the new?
Or, do I have to do the online transfer thing?
If the program does not exist on any computer then where is the license?

I copy and pasted details from a survey drawing into my current model. A message came on screen that warned that any printed output would display the message PRODUCED BY AN AUTOCAD EDUCATIONAL PRODUCT.
I continued thinking that I would be able to purge any blocks later. I am not able to clean the drawing and any copies are printed with the message. I have tried WBLOCK and it still remains.

I've got this drawing which I would like to engrave with my laser, but I'm afraid the duplicate lines from the imported WMF (from Adobe Illustrator) will hinder the performance of the laser. I have tried OVERKILL on all of its different settings, but there are still duplicate lines all over the place.
Any tips for removing the duplicates? The drawing is too intricate to go through and delete them by hand.
The file is too large for this website (6 mb), so I've uploaded it here

During the process of drafting many lines overlap (e.g. construction lines, objects merging, etc)
Because the overlapping lines have precisely the same properties, I don't feel the need to remove them.
The issue begins when I go to plot. The overlapping lines do appear darker than lines without overlapping. This occurs a great deal in my work!
Is there a function that will merge/flatten these lines so that no more overlapping lines exist?

I have several text boxes in my drawing with two grips. When you drag either grip, it re-sizes the text, it will also not allow you to enter a new size in the properties box. I can't convert them to mtext since the position will change; how to remove one of the two grips or another way, so that I can change the text height in the properties.
I'll write a LISP routine to move the top grip (they're all vertically orientated) by a set amount to re-size the text;

I'm trying to use the cut across bend feature on a sheet metal part. However, when I check cut across bend, it grays out all of the other cutout options, and only has thickness as the only option. This is perplexing to me, because I can't think of too many times I'd need this option other than when there is more than one thickness of material I need to manipulate the profile onto.
I was to understand that this "cut across bend" is for use similar to the "normal cutout" command in solid edge? Keeps the cut perpendicular to the sheet face in a sheet metal part.

I am working on a drawing that started life as a dxf file from a client. I am having problems with the scale of hatching in that whilst I might normally do a line hatch at a scale of 25 to get the same spacing I now have to set the scale to 650.
Initially I had a problem that the scaling in viewports was also wrong but I sorted that one out but I cannot find how to reset the hatch scale to my normal setting.
I am also finding that when hatching it seems to find gaps in lines that it would not normally do. Even after I have filleted all the corners the hatch still in some cases 'spills out'. The measuring and dimensioning tools are all working correctly and show the correct figures.
