AutoCAD 2010 :: Linetype Is Not Scaling Based On Annotative Scale

Oct 17, 2012

I have a drawing (attached) with the following settings: LTSCALE = 1, MSLTSCALE = 1, PSLTSCALE = 1.For some reason the linetype is not scaling based on the annotative scale. It will update correctly if I change the LTSCALE but for some reason it wants to ignore the MS and PSLTSCALE variables.

As a note, the drawing was converted from a Microstation drawing and the linetype is a converted Microstation linetype. Is there something in the linetype that is doing this.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Annotative Objects Scaling To Current View Scale?

Jun 26, 2012

I love annotative scaling of objects it is a great feature. I am however having one problem that I'm not sure if I've missed a setting or something.  Is there a way to prevent civil 3d from scaling your annotative objects based on the view scale you are looking at?  For example if I zoom out (in model space or max viewport) to show my entire drawing and regen, civil 3d scales all my text and blocks to an enomous scale esentially blocking my entire drawing with solid colour. also if I zoom into a small area to do some detail work all my text becomes microscopic and unuseable. This makes adjusting text so it doesn;t overlap other text very difficult if it never appears at the correct size. Is there a way to freeze annotative objects at thier correct scale (for the current viewport scale) so they dont scale simply because you zoom in or out on a drawing?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Text Scaling

Jun 11, 2013

I had started placing dimensions in a drawing before I realized that I had to change the scale of the entire drawing. So now I would like to change the annotative scale of an existing dimension style but I am not clear on how to do it.

This would be for any new dimensions that I add. They continue to appear at the old scale. All of the dimensions are correct I would just like to see the dimensioning scaled up to the proper size for the drawing.

I realize that I could just create a new style but instead would really like to know how to change what I am already using.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Objects Not Scaling In Layout Viewports

Oct 30, 2012

After drawing in model space(1:1 Scale) I then dimension as needed using Annotative Dimensions, Multileaders and MText using the same 1:1 scale. But when I create the variuos viewports on my layout pages the dimensions aren't scaling to the viewport scale.

This is where it may be partly my fault; When I first started using annotative dimensions etc. a box would pop up asking what scale to use.  Because I am dimensioning in model space, rather than always seeing this text box I selected "Do not ask again" check box to always use 1:1 scaling.

These are some of the other settings in place;

ANNOAUTOSCALE = 4
Annotation Visibility = ON
Automatically Add Scales = ON

AutoCAD 2010 :: Control Linetype Scaling - MSLTSCALE / PSLTSCALE

Oct 19, 2012

I think the MSLTSCALE / PSLTSCALE / annotation scales are fantastic to use when showing the details / plan at different scales (1:100 / 1:50 / 1:1) without having to use LTS to show different scales.  I am using AutoCAD 2011.However, I noticed one snag. In the old Autocad before the MSLTSCALE was introduced, I used a shape linetype - a sino shape which I created for insulation in the wall cavity as well for curtain in the interior plan layout (with MSLTSCALE set at 0 and LTS set at scale factor at 1 and use paperspace scaling at desired scale.

When MSLTSCALE / PSLTSCALE are set at 1, the sino linetype will of course changed accordingly to different scale .I prefer to keep the MSLTSCALE / PSLTSCALE at the default 1 with LTS at  scale factor 1 as I want the dashed linetypes to updated accordingly to the scale. At the same time I don't want to have the sino linetype changed (keeping the sino linetype at constant 100mm width). Is there a way to control one linetype at MSLTSCALE = 0 and keep the rest of the linetypes at MSLTSCALE = 1.

I don't think it is possible as MSLTSCALE is for general setup. Instead I would have to forgo using the sino lintype and used a block instead. But a way to control an individual linetype scaling.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Hatches - Different On Layout At Same Scale

Apr 5, 2012

I have this complex section of an architectural project, which is drawn at 1:1 scale (obviously). It has lots of constructive details, however i've made lots of layers and everything is under control. However, as I started to hatch the drawings, i was having big problems at using the same drawing for different scales, because non-annotative hatches also change their size with different scales.

So I began trying annotative, and i did it as i read in several how-tos. I made an hatch in the layout to know the perfect scale for the hatch, then applied that scale in model hatches. Then, in properties, I selected the scales at which that hatch should belong. Until here everything was OK!

However, as the ideal scale for the hatches (ANSI31) was something like 0.0003, here started the problems. The layout has an erratic behavior with similar hatches (I even tried to use match props to be sure different hatches had the same properties). On different viewports, some of the hatches appear as solid, and they plot just like that! As I zoom in and zoom out, the problem changes, as problematic viewports become right and others become wrong.

I tried to change HPmaxlines to 10000000, i tried to change the size of ansi31 in acad.pat, however the problem persists. It seems that the problem disappears when i have increase the hatch scale to, lets say, 0.05, however it's not that scale I want because of the presentation...

AutoCAD 2010 :: Linetype Scale Not Compatible Between Two Drawings

Oct 5, 2012

I work very closely with a customer, and have been asked to implement their drafting standards for a dwg file they received from another vendor.  I have attached two drawings, 1 (their vendor's) and 2 (mine, in progress).  When opened, I notice the linetype scale *appears* different between the drawings (note the differences within "LINE LEGEND" section of both drawings).  It *appears* as though Drawing 2 has double the linetype scale of Drawing 1.

I realize that within Drawing 2 I could set the LTSCALE variable to 0.5, but that seems like a work-around and may cause problems with other aspects of the customer's drafting standards in the future.

I've already confirmed that both drawings have the same values for LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE, MSLTSCALE, CELTSCALE.  I've also already confirmed that, for the "PACKAGED EQUIPMENT" entry with the legend, the properties dialog box shows the exact same values for all fields.  Lastly, (trying [URL] .....) I re-loaded the linetype for PHANTOM2.

I'd like to have them both appear the same, if possible.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Learning To Create Blocks With Annotative Scale

Jul 30, 2012

I am rather new to AutoCAD 2010, and have observed issues with Annotative Scale. I have tried to avoid that function like the plague, but now I have some time to learn of it and its power.

I've been tasked with creating/updating Electrical Department symbol blocks. Right now, I am working on lighting fixture blocks, and I have this particularly odd scenario when i'm making the Block Attributes. My new block is for a 2 foot by 4' lighting fixture. When this block is to be inserted in Model Space, the size will always remain constant (2'x4'), but I need the Attributes (one for the Fixture Type, and one to denote the Circuit Number and Switch leg) to change sizes per the plan scale on Paper Space.

How, and in which space, should I construct my light fixture block & attributes? And, which parts of the block or attributes should be Annotative? Also, the light fixture can be either oriented vertically or horizontally. Will I still be able to relocate the attribute using -EATTEDIT or -ATTEDIT?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Removing Annotative Scale For Single Item?

Mar 22, 2012

I seem to have lost the ability to add or remove an annotative scale for a single item (piece of text, block etc).  I've always picked the annotative scale in the properties box and then hit the box at the right which brought up a small dialogue box where I could add or remove scales for the item that I'd highlighted.  When I hit that box now, or the similar box in the right click menu nothing happens.  AutoCAD acts like the box is present, but it isn't.  The right click option of remove current scale doesn't work either as it seems to remove the scale from multiple items.

I have recently gone from two monitors to one (it's a real bummer).  Is it possible that the dialogue box is open somewhere I can't find it?  I have hit the show desktop button and it isn't there.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Making Annotative Scale Different From Viewport Scale

Nov 8, 2013

I have a drawing with several layouts, and in one particular layout only, I want the text to be smaller than the annotation scale would dictate (the viewport is 1"=300', but I want the text to display at 1"=50' annotation scale).

I tried selecting the viewport and changing the "annotation scale" property to 1"=50', then the "standard scale" property to 1"=300'.

Strangely, this seems to work for a bunch of MText objects I have in the drawing, but it won't work for an alignment station label group or for a particular linetype...for some reason, those two things insist on having their annotation scale equal to the viewport scale.

I tried messing around with the alignment station label group's style but couldn't figure anything out. As far as the line/linetype, I'm completely at a loss why that one wouldn't change.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Block To Scale Based On Plot Scale?

Apr 19, 2013

I have a block that i would like to scale based on the plot scale when plotting.

We set up our drawings full size and occasionally we want to plot them at half size. We do this by setting the plot scale to 1:2 (custom) in the plotting dialog. We have a few blocks that we want to print at the same size on paper, essentially become twice as big.

Is there is a way to fix the size or just set a few scale states and have them automatically adjust based on the plot scale (not drawing/annotative scale)?

AutoCAD 2013 :: MV Blocks And Annotative Scaling

Sep 3, 2012

I'm currently trying to make an MV block which is a combination of a 2D symbol and its 3D representation. I want the 2D symbol to scale in line with the annotation scale so have set the annotative flag on my symbol block but I do not want the 3D representation to scale so this does not have the flag set. However, when I put the two blocks into my MV block and then alter the annotation scale, both the 2D and 3D blocks both scale.

Is there something more that I need to be doing to to make the two blocks act independently and comply with the annotative flag set on them? I have seen this behaviour work on MEP2013 but can't see anything different on its 'devices' and my simple blocks.

AutoCad :: Master Control For Annotative Scaling?

Sep 28, 2011

I've been watching some youtube tutorials on annotations, seems like I need to set the scale for Text / Dimensions / Multileaders / Leaders / Hatches.

Just wondering, is there something like a "master annotation" config I can use to set them all at once?

And which scale do I use to control the scale of my lines in my drawing? I draw in metric, and when I select a linestyle called HIDDEN, I need to set the scale to about 300 for it to appear as a HIDDEN line, other wise it's just a normal line.

How do I go about fixing that? Under normal circumstances, it should appear as a hidden line with just a scale factor of 1 in properties right? Why do I always have to make mine a scale factor of 300? I draw in 1:1.

AutoCad :: Annotative Scaling With Dynamic Block

May 14, 2012

I'm setting up CAD standards for my office (title blocks, tool palletes, dynamic blocks, you know the drill). This should have been done long ago by another employee who makes more money than me, but that is beside the point. (Maybe you know the drill on that front too...)

This is a granite counter top fabrication shop, and I've created a dynamic block containing all the edging profiles we are producing at the moment. Contained in the block are "3D" versions of each profile, both with and without dimensions (for annotation purposes), and a 2D closed polyline showing only the "section" of the profile, to be exploded from the block and used as an extrusion shape when 3D drawings of the finished look of a countertop are necessary.

The issue I'm having is with scaling/annotative scaling. I have created a custom tool pallete with this edge profile block and a couple other dynamic "mark-up" blocks. (See Layout1 in the attached drawing.) What I need is for this edge profile block to insert into model space at "actual size" (3/4" thick), so when it is exploded and extruded, I'm creating that 3D edge at the proper proportion in my drawing. But for annotative purposes, I want to be able to insert the block at a different scale in paperspace (roughly at the size it is shown in the attached drawing).

AutoCAD 2010 :: Annotative Attributes In NON-Annotative Block

Are we missing something, or is this just not possible?

AutoCad :: Basic Linetype Scale

I know that I can chance this by hand or chance a basic line type scale with the command "lts".

But all the lines in the drawings of our partner have the line type scale 1 under properties. So if I used "lts", there would either my lines or their lines be scaled wrong. Also I don't want to chance the default line type scale of each line by hand.

Is there a possibility to set up something that each line I'm drawing, starts with a specific line type scale as default under properties?

It's all good, the dims and text look great, which is what I want at the end of the day, however I got there.

But, when I want to set up another detail at 1:40 scale, I can't for the life of me figure out how to make the same dim and text style appear the same size as it was for the 1:20 detail.
