So, I got a bad drawing from a vendor today, which locked up autocad. Now, each time I start, it tries to "auto recover" and gets hung again.
Is there a way to start Autocad in "safe mode" or something similar?
I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind the fact that seeminly every other product out there has an autosave and recovery feature..why am I paying so much for a product that will eventually crash and I lose all my work since my last save?

It's just annoying that every time I open Photoshop all those previous files auto open. Is there anyway to make it stop? I read that there is a file that you delete, but will that stop the auto-recovery feature?
My understanding of Auto Recover is that when a working file is saved and closed, the corresponding Auto Recover psb should be trashed automatically.
Every evening I save and close all my work, quit Photoshop and shut down the Mac. Every morning when I start Photoshop, at least one Auto Recovery file opens. It's the last file(s) I was working on the previous evening.
I've toggled Auto Recover on/off, trashed the folder and had CS6 recreate it. Nothing works. Every morning, I am presented with a psb of the previous evening's work.
My scratch disk is a dedicated 100gb SSD. I have triple verified that CS6 is not writing recovery files to a different location.
I already have all my settings the way that I want the users to see them when starting AutoCAD 2010 for the first time. But when you first start up AutoCAD 2010 it brings up the Initial Setup screen. I was wondering if there was a way to get that not to display but just open AutoCAD right away.

I had a meander around the forums looking for possible fixes and information about the Auto Recovery feature, but so far have not been able to cure this ailment.
I have previously disabled the Auto Recovery feature as well as deleting the auto recovery files, yet this was only had a band-aid to amuptation effect. The auto recovery files have reappeared and are now opening again upon start up.
Is there any way to turn off auto-recovery in LR4 2012 process engine? When shooting on white seamless, I gradually bring up the background lights until I see the raw file just blowing out as I want it, at my shooting aperture. With LR4 and auto-recovery - using this method of 'metering' if you like - I'm adding 2-3 extra stops of light than I would expect before this happens, which then gives me wrap around and flare problems. I'd like to take back control of this, so I'm not guessing where my pure white is any more..
View 21 Replies View RelatedI have successfully saved my file, shut down Photoshop without incident, and yet upon opening CS6 it starts opening the latest autorecovery file. I need to have autorecovery on for the work loss protection it provides, but it can get confusing to have an Autorecovery file open instead of the file I had meant to open. ( This is also happening on a colleague's computer.)
I'm running Mac OS X version 10.8.3
2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
64 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
CS6 Version 13.0.4
It's happened several times with a variety of files. They are all Grayscale layered PSB's, in the 1.5 - 3 GB range.
Now every dwg that is opened the dwg recovery warning box pops up. how do i turn that off?
View 7 Replies View RelatedHad a system crash. I had Norton 360 using a slave HD as my automatic backup source. To reinstall windows, master HD was overwritten. I thenfound out Norton 360 didn't save my autocad files to the slave HD. Their definition of "other files" didn't cover dwg files unless you did an extremely detailed setup process, which, was not in the Norton instructions. Anyways, local computer service was able to recover about 60% of the "lost" autocad files.
Of those recovered files, about 60% will not open up. Only get a message "not a valid file" The file details show its an autocad file, its size, and the last date of revison.
The user is running Autocad 2010, and she was able to perform this function last week. Nothing has changed, and a system reboot did not correct the issue.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a mass print script and I have it save then close the drawing after it's done printing each one. The problem is the script updates the mass properties and some times drawings just update when opened. So when it saves different "warnings" can pop up, which pause the script until the pop up is taken care of. The warnings are typically for saving other files like the ipt linked to a drawing or if the drawing was saved in an old version. Is there a way to just accept those while running a script so it does puase?

Any settings that will automatically check changes to an xref and re-load it instead of just telling you "an xref needs reloading"? the problem is occuring when i go to publish and i end up with out-dated info because acad doesn't auto-refresh the xrefs.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi have been trying for an option called auto numbering of attributes. i have a drawing of floor plan in every room there are 5 to 6 switch boards.I have to give a code and numbers to switchboard like SB1, SB2.......SB42 etc. there are like some 150 switchboards, so i have made an attribute with code and number. problem is when ever i have to add or delete some switch boards some where in the middle. again i have to start renumbering my switch board attribute blocks again from starting. It is very time consuming. is there any command renumbering all attribute blocks in one command.

I currently have the ribbon docked at the side of the screen with auto hide on. next to the ribbon i have a couple of tool bars. when i move across to the tool bar i sometimes over shoot and activate the ribbon which hides the tool bar. Ideally, iwould like to slow down the reaction time before the ribbon appears.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I created a parts list this morning the list started with item 2 and skipped item 8 as shown below.
why would it do that? I know I can renumber the list, but then when I expand the subassembly to show the subassembly parts, they stay numbered 10.1, 10.2 ect. even though the subassembly has become item 8 with the renumbering. If I expand the subassembly before renumbering, I loose the indented numbering format and simply get numbers 1 to 18. True I could manually renumber all the components, but what would be the reason the parts don't come into the parts list numbered sequentially to start with?
I'm trying to automate my drawing creation but i've run into a problem. In my code it takes the document collection object and iterates through and creates a drawing for each part and assembly the problem is i need it to skip the files from my library and content center since they dont require drawings. I like to use inherit properties a lot when hatching. Now it also grabs the layer and I prefer that to be bylayer always, like before when this (imo useless) option was not implemented. Does any trick to get rid of this feature I don't want.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I created our custom profile ".arg" file, with two custom workspaces along with the OTB workspaces. I set the Auto Publish Settings to publish to PDF on Exit. With 50+ users, each can create thier own workspace for thier liking.
I have some users that like the feature, and others that do not. The ones that do not like the feature, want to turn the feature off.
So the question is if, under each individual workspace, we uncheck the Auto Publish feature, then save that workspace, is the feature turn off for JUST that workspace? Or does it cut the feature off for all workspaces?

We are experimenting with turning on the auto publish to PDF on prompted save. (Options/Plot and Publish tab) This will be a very nice tool since we create PDF's of every dwg. that we create. However, I am having trouble locating the settings that control the page layout in this feature (The titleblock is not centered and is getting cut off when PDF is generated) but, When I preview the "standard" way of plotting to PDF, the drawing is fine. I assumed the settings would be one in the same?

I have got as far as using the following diesel expression.
Xref's in this file are indicated as - Xref name [Filepath]
$(Xrefs,3,)
$(Images,3,Images in this file: )
This gives me more or less what I want but I dont want to show the file path. What changes to the expression I need to do to achieve this.
I am using 2012 autoCad. I have created an external MS access database in 2010. I want to map some fields like Polyline areas to DB field. DBConnect wasn't that much usrful to me for external databse.(Or I might be missing something).
Is there anyway that I can map AutoCAD-2012 Polylines to External database field so that updating polyline auto updates the database??
I notice that whenever I plot with DWG to PDF.pc3 the filename for the PDF always comes out as:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name).pdf
Is there any way to change the inputs for this? Let's say for example I wanted AutoCAD to automatically insert a timestamp at the end for me, so that the filename is always:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name)-(date and time here).pdf
This would keep me better organized and also make it easier for my less computer savvy coworkers to go through old drawings and see changes between drawings. I know I could type it by hand every single time, but why do that if there's a way to have AutoCAD do it for me

1 of these files could not be moved to the Trash. The files are on a volume that does not support Trash. Would you like to permanently delete them?
The options are "Permanently Delete Files" and "Cancel."
Is it possible to permanently bypass the "Permanently Delete Files" prompt?
