AutoCAD 2010 :: Hatch Select Objects Based On Attributes
Mar 27, 2013
I have some blocks that are associated with regions in my drawings. I want to select regions based on attributes in the associated blocks. Is that possible?
Is it possible to link my blocks to an external database and select the regions based on a field in the linked database?

Is it possible with the hatch command to be able to select objects first instead of picking an internal point?I looked at this thread first which covers the same problem but not sure if there ever was a solution. URL....
HPDLGMODE is currently set to 2, I tried setting it back to 1 but that brings up the hatch popup window as it does in Classic mode and 0 does the same thing as 2.

I distinctly remember back in the day, (~2006), that you would be able to to choose the items you wanted to hatch first, then enter the Hatch command, hit OK, and your objects would be hatched. Simple! Since 2010, you have to enter the Hatch command, then hit Select Objects, then select your objects, then hit Enter, then hit OK, which I find it is less efficient.

I have a drawing containing over 100 blocks with 8-10 attributes each. I want to align all the attribute text without rotating the associated blocks. I can select individual attributes by holding down the Ctrl key while I select each attribute. Then I can change the text angle in a pop-up dialog. Is there a quicker way to select all the attributes without having to click on each one? Remember that I do not want to rotate the whole block, just the attribute text.

I have a drawing template (block) where the drawing number is displayed in two locations (attributes). The same value has to be entered in both attributes.
Is there any way of "echoing" the data from one attribute to other attributes (or text objects)?

I have three dwg files. Each of them have separate MrSID files (image files) attached by georeference. Each file also has one or more polylines and hatch objects on top of the image.
ONE of these dwg files is causing problems. EVERY SINGLE TIME I plot the dwg file, the hatch and lwpolyline objects are UNDER the image. So I have to copy the hatch on top of itself and delete the original--then do the same with the pline.

We still do all of our AutoCAD drafting in 2-D.So we don't need the ViewCube. It gets in the way and won't let us select objects underneath the ViewCube.
It is easy to turn it off by going to User Interface.BUT, is there a way to turn it off as the default. The drawing I'm in right now has the ViewCube in half of the Viewports.

I am running AutoCAD 2010 full version. Every time I select a line or a group of lines or objects. My program freezes up for a couple of seconds each time, to scan the drawing. So a task that should take 10-15 minute is turning into 25-30 minutes nightmare. Every selection I make there will appear a progress bar and the words "Scanning the drawings..." in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Is there some setting somewhere i can turn this scanning feature off? Is this issue linked to the layer states?

I have been using AutoCAD 2010 for a while now and then all of a sudden, I am unable to select multiple lines. The only way to select more than one line for a command is to hold down the shift button and then select more lines. I think someone was playing around with the computer and must have changed a setting?

I am working on a set of drawings that include attributes that are numerically sheet specific (page numbers and the like)
I saw a previous post that allows tabs to display block info, but is there a way to get blocks to refer to tab info?
Essentially, I am trying to label match lines from page to page. Being able to have these labels refer to the numeric value of the layout tab, tab previous, and/or tab after would be extremely useful and time saving.

I'm trying to select all Text-based items (Text,Mtext and Attribute References) in a drawing to check to see if they match a pattern in a regular expression. Although i have a block with an attribute in the drawing and the selection filter consisting of
DxfCode.Operator, "<OR"
DxfCode.Start "ATTRIB"
DxfCode.Start "TEXT"
DxfCode.Start "MTEXT"
DxfCode.Operator, "OR>"
It isn't picking up the attribute Reference in the block.
Is there a workaround using the Editor.SelectAll method and not having to programmatically check each block's attributes? I'm using AutoCAD 2009.

We have 1 machine in the office that when using super hatch it will not "hatch" the entire area as one hatch, it breaks it into separate image based pieces. The rest of the office, it hatches as one entity so it can be changed easily. Even if we use the group command, it will not group them.

I have polylines that when selected, under properties it lists Object Data for the selected polyline. There are like 10 categories. This drawing is actually creeks in a county and they have object data connected to them where some are "a" some are "b" classification and I want to select all of the "a" polylines and put on a diffrent layer.

I accidentally turned something on in Autocad, and I want it to go away, I have no idea what it's called or how to get it gone. It's akin to the "select other" window in Inventor when you select at the intersection of several objects.
How do I make this go away?

Right now, when i click one object and then another, the first object becomes deselected. Holding shift is the only way for me to select multiple lines right now (other than dragging of course) but that's not what I'm used to and it annoys me a lot. At first everything is fine but then after a while it does this without me changing any options at all.

A user is having problems when using the copy command in AutoCAD 2013.
When they select objects, its not reporting on the commandline how many objects its found or keeping a running total of objects selected. Not even any duplications...
I've tested it on my machine but i cannot replicate the issue and have never come across this before!
Is it a bug? Is it a variable? User setting etc.

I'm working on a command that lets me select polylines on a specific layer, then converts them to 3d solids. I'm having a slight issue where if a polyline has the same start and end coordinates (this happens in some of our drawings), then the command stops and I get an eDegenerateGeometry error. I want to modify my command so that it detects these objects, removes them from the selection set, and then notifies the users of their prescence so they can be removed manually. The last part i think I can handle, however I'm not sure how to modify either my filter or my routine to detect and ignore these objects. I'm assuming that since i'll want to record these objects to later notify the user, that i'd probably want to modify my routine.
using System;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.Runtime;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.DatabaseServices;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.Geometry;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.EditorInput;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.DataExtraction;using Autodesk.AutoCAD.Colors;using System.Windows.Forms;

For a program i am working for i have to extract the base point of a dynamic block.
This can be done perfectly by this function:
(cdr (assoc 10 (entget (car (entsel)))))
But i want the entity selected based on a previous slected point. So for example when i selected pt1 (which is a point at the border of the dynamic block) i want to be able to extract the base point on the block whit this point.

We are looking for a solution to manage the inventory of a very extensive network with mainly linear assets. Instead of a standard database/inventory solution, we would like to manage the inventory from a plan, from autocad DWG. Meaning that all the objects and relations between objects are defined in the DWG, then uploaded to a relational database and used by various maintenance and operational utilities.
how we would define the relations between objects. For example, how would we say that one object is attached to another object? Can you make a reference from one object to another in the attributes of a block? (but it has to be a strong reference, to an ID).

My Computer just recently jusst got switched to a new server...
Somethings are just acting weird now, like my hatching...
All my old hatches that were associative are acting like one seltions like if i hatch a polyline now when i go to select that hatch it now selects the polyline as well.
This never happened before abd the only way to edit it now is to either make it in the properties not associative then i lose my boundary or just to explode it then i a ihave an exploded hatch...before i made it assoc. and i could just edit or select the hatch only i think its an option setting...

I know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
