I am trying to change text in hundreds of drawings. What I have is a line of text say "the brown fox" and I need to change it to "the black dog". I have probably 1500 drawings I need to do this in. I am not versed in scripts of lisp. I know the ACAD commands to do this but could develop a script file to batch this.

I wish to segregate the data and want some certain set of data e.g. in P&ID drawing, I need only instrument Tags which are connected to DCS and likewise...
Is there any way to filter such kind of data and get the required results?
I had a set of drawings that I needed to redefine a block in and had to go into each drawing and redefine it seperately. Is there a way to redefine it once and then possibly select the drawings this block is redefined in?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I have several drawings open at the same time and have done work to some of them, at the end of the day I just pick the AutoCAD application "close" button (the "X" in the top-right corner of the window) and I'm prompted "Save changes to <drawing>?" for each of the drawings.
Unfortunately, most of the times I do this in AC2011, AutoCAD crashes. The next time I open AutoCAD, it initiates the recover but all the changes have been saved in the *.dwg file.
I know this is not the best way to save and close drawings but it has never been a problem.
why Autocad 2012 opens one window per drawing as opposed to Autocad 2007/2008 opening one window for as many drawings as you have open. (I also don't care to group/ungroup similar programs through Windows 7.) This must be an Autocad 2012 program default that I can't figure out to change.

Each row is assigned a drawing file name field and then the 6 attributes for the title block of each drawing. I am wanting a routine that will open a set of drawings, the set matching each drawing file name field record and populate the attributes in the drawing title block with the corresponding records in that row from the database table.
I have seen where multiple blocks in one drawing can be populated with an attached database but I want to populate several drawings with a single database that has several records. One row of records for each drawing.
I need to modify the page setup of multple drawings and have it save that way so everytime I open the drawing the chosen page setup is selected.
I'm aware of being able to set multiple page setups in the publish screen, but that isnt a permenant change to the drawings themselves, and not what I'm looking for.
I have multiple cad drawings (300 *dwg's)that need some items changed, is there a way to seach multiple cad drawing in my project for specific instances of text in each drawing?
Do the drawings have to be open? Can you seach just thru the project with out opening each drawing, how does this work?!

Currently they come out with just the number 1, 2 , 3 etc I need to add a leading zero ie 01, 02, 03 etc
All the scripts I have will just replace the number with another
I just want to append the zero infront of the existing number
ie the code will need to read the existing number and decide if its less than 10. if it is less than 10, then the code just needs to append the leading 0. if its 10 or over, then do nothing.
I have a drawings that will open in Trueview 2012 on Win7 and AutoCAD 2000 on XP that will show up correctly. But with AutoCad 2012 on Win7 it will not show the Japanese. See attached

I am trying to globally find and replace text in Autocad 2000 drawings. If I have a folder containing 10 Autocad files, I want to open every file in that folder, while in each file, search for a certain line of text and replace that text, then close that file, open the next and find/replace text in that file.
I've created an autolisp file that allows me to open all the files in a certain folder, but I can't find any way, either thru autolisp or scripts, to allow me to find and replace text in each autocad drawing without using Autocad's "find" command to manually enter the text when each drawing is open.
I want to setup the autolisp file to accept input up front, save the "old text" and "new text" to variables, then use those variables as the lisp routine is running.
This version was used to automate creating PDF files. The command 'PDF' is a command from another Lisp file.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I change the annotation scale for selected text and leaders, most of it shoots into space. I have tried one at a time and many, all with the same result.
The text size looks correct, the leader looks fine, but the text x coordinate changes radically.
Changing from 1:1 to 1:15,000
Does this mean I have to relocate every leader text back to something normal, or am I missing something.
I have a whole bunch of labels that are single line text that I want to convert to Mtext. I have been using the Express Tools TXT2MTXT command but that only works on one label at a time. If I select all the labels at once using this command it gives me one long Mtext string. Is there a way to convert all of the labels to mtext, but still maintaining individual entities?

E.g.. This Drawing is part of the consulting services provided for Project[Project_Number] and may not be used or applied for any other purpose without prior consultation.
in other word the project number should be reference in the text box from the attribute.
I've cut and "paste special" a table from excel to autocad, and would like to edit several (not all) cell's text color from the default (in this case white) to the bylayer color.
When I set up my table style I specified the text to be bylayer, however apparently a paste from excel ignores the setting.
I am currently updating company drawings from one template to another. I am using the copy and paste method. What I am noticing is that when I copy the part and the dimension from the original drawing ( all in 3 place dimensioning) to the new template Autocad is changing the dimensions to 4 place dimensions. First question is why is this happening and second question is can it be stopped?
View 4 Replies View Relateddrawings that I download from commercial vendors, (Grainger, McMaster, etc). I figured out how to get access to them: When I convert them from .DXF to .DWG. it somehow allows me to correctly dimension them.
One more problem I have with these drawings is that although I can edit them, one of the most important things I need to be able to do is change the layer they're on. I can't figure out how. I usually use the "Change to Current Layer", LAYCUR, command, but it doesn't seem to work for these commecially downloaded drawings.
They're always in "Layer 0". I've created multiple other layers that I need them in, but I can't get them to move. When I select them and then click on the Change to Current Layer button, they just don't move. 'm drrawing in Model Space.
In the attached screencast video you will see that I have a drawing set up on the left of the screen to show where all the sections are taken through the building. I have setup a layer called SPC SECTION LINES which is set up to be bylayer and on the colour green.
When I XREF this drawing into the sheet file on the right side of the screencast you will see how the colour turns yellow when reference into the new sheet file?
Why does the colour of the line change when it gets xrefed into a new drawing?

I am trying to write some VBA code to print several drawings present in a folder.
I am not a VBA expert. I wrote some little macros in excel but it is the first one in Autocad.
I have a small code that opens a drawing, counts it, closes it and then loops for other drawings.
I have a code that print a drawing by defining some printing parameters.
Separately, both work. But when I call the second one into the loop, I get a error:
"Run-time error '-2147418111 (800100001)':
Automation error
Call was rejected by callee."
I'm using Windows 7 and Autocad 2012.

I'm having some trouble while copying between drawings. I am attempting to merge a number of floor plans which are all saved as seperate drawings into 1 drawing. However whenever I copy the floor plan over to another drawing, some of the lines/objects seem to be displaced.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am trying to plot multiple drawings all at once. I work with many drawing sizes varies from size A to size E. What would be the best way to plot all drawings to 11 X 17 paper no matter what size the drawings are set to? These drawings are not xref or anything. They all are separated files. I tried using Set Sheet Manager; it will only plot to whatever that size is. I want all drawings to be plotted on 11 X 17. I did some research in the forums here and was not able to find what I was looking for.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've started having a problem with the Publish command when publishing multiple drawings to PDF.
When I plot a drawing using the plot command, I don't have a problem.
When I publish one drawing using the Publish command it is also fine.
It is only when I try to publish multiple files that the problem occurs- the PDFs are produced, but the it is as if the drawing contents (paper space) has been shifted up by 10mm or so, cutting off the top of the drawing, and creating a larger margin at the bottom of the drawing. I use exactly the same page setup as for the single drawing plot.
There seems to be no setting that would change this, and the fact that publishing a single drawing works suggests that there is some kind of bug. At the moment i have to plot every drawing individually (or get my colleague to do it- it works fine on his machine, same page setup file!)
