AutoCAD 2010 :: Batch Plotter Change For Every Layout
Feb 22, 2012
Receive a lot of plans from other guys. I can watch them but when I want to plot I have to change the plotter for every layout. Isn't it possible to change the plotter of ALL layouts in one command? That would be easy!

Why autocad always starts up with 2 layout tabs available on the drawing. In the template that I have created only one layout tab is available and if I create a new drawing according to that template after startup, only one layout tab is available. The template that I have created is set as the basic template for autocad, so it starts up using this template.
Now I want autocad to startup with only one layout tab available.

How do I get the built-in PDF plotter quality up to my adobe pdf plotter. I want to do use publisher and make mulitple page pdf's and as I understand it I have to use the built-in plotter to do it. As of right now I have to sperate pages with adobe and then combie them to make a single pdf.
(how the built-in PDF plotter looks)
(How I want to have the built-in plotter look.) Without changing settings in my pdf viewer, I need to be able to send these out to customers.

I am having trouble using the publish command when I set the plotter to a 22x34 sheet. We are able to print to an actual plotter just fine at that size, but when we try and make a pdf set at that size, it just errors out.
The error I get is
"ERROR: The current device does not support the requested media size."

I notice that whenever I plot with DWG to PDF.pc3 the filename for the PDF always comes out as:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name).pdf
Is there any way to change the inputs for this? Let's say for example I wanted AutoCAD to automatically insert a timestamp at the end for me, so that the filename is always:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name)-(date and time here).pdf
This would keep me better organized and also make it easier for my less computer savvy coworkers to go through old drawings and see changes between drawings. I know I could type it by hand every single time, but why do that if there's a way to have AutoCAD do it for me

I'm not sure if it possible although I am trying to rename layout tabs an easier way. Say I have layout tabs A01 to A99 and I want to insert another layout tab at position A20. I need to rename (the old) A20 to A21, then A21 to A22 then A99 to A100 etc.
Any fast way to do this or a lisp that does this.

I am trying to plot over 100 drawings to PDF. They are mechanical drawings and the details need to be clear. I tried a batch plot, but when printed in 11x17, everything is a bit fuzzy on the PDF. I tried a PDF convertor, and it was very clear, but it put a large, "Free Trail" logo in the center, ha.

i already know how to change the viewport scaling from 1:1, to 1:10, to 1:20, and so on but my real issue is someone before me change the view scale from 1:1 to 1:.808XXXXX. when i print my figures from the layout everything that is not in the viewport ( like my scale bar) come out shorter that it is on the the screen in paper space. Ive tried to change it back to 1:1 but it wont accept it and keeps the .808XXX value.

I am using autocad to find areas of a stream cross section such that when we take a water height measurement of the stream in the field, we can easily get the area from a spreadsheet since the cross section of the stream at any height will be known (once I get done in AutoCAD).
To further illustrate my needs, I have attached a picture. I need all the seperate areas between the red lines (the red lines are equally spaced vertically and have lengths that go end to end to the edges of the stream).
I have been hatching between the red lines and taking the areas of each hatched object. However, this is a slow and tedious process.
Hatching is not the issue because I can hatch multiple objects at once using the create seperate hatch option.
What I need is a way to list all the hatched object's areas into a text file so that I can easily copy and paste them into an excel file. Even if it is not a nice and neat list, I can atleast use a find for "area" to get them into a nice list a little faster.

We've recently converted all our microstation drawings to autocad now that the company has decided to go with one cad program company wide. One of the issues we are having after getting the drawings back from the this co. converting them is the cells to blocks conversion inside the drawing. when we open a drawing and see a "Fuse" block for instance and if it a has multiple inserts, it named them:
Fuse
Fuse_1
Fuse_2 etc....
is there a lisp routine or some command that would replace the "Fuse_*" blocks with "Fuse"..I've been searching the forums and know about the express tool Replace Block but need to be able to automate somehow. I thought about trying to rename each of the "Fuse_*" but of course it won't let you rename to a block name that already exists.

I am having issues batch plotting in LT 2010.
I am using Windows Vista.
I go to the batch plot. Load the drawings I want to plot. I then load the page setup I want to use. None of the files plot. The error says that the device doesn't support the output size.
The weird thing is that I can plot using those same page setups individual files, just not as a batch.

I usually make pdf's by plotting each layout to pdf then combining them with adobe acrobat. Recently i have tried the batch plot to pdf and found that i like it much better but im having a problem with it. I have set up my page sheet manager and have imported my plot sheet settings from a different file. I have checked and double checked that the settings on this file is correct.
My problem is that when i create the batch plot and select the page setup when i create the pdf it cut the left and right side of the page off like there are margins or something. I have created a pdf my plotting to pdf on an individual page and printed it and compared to my batch plot and they are the same scale and size on the paper but the batch plot cuts it off on the sides. I need to get it to print like the plot to pdf so that it is to scale.

My pages come out with a blank / empty viewport,
The title block is on the page and nothing else plots on the page.
This is only happening with one of the files I am working in. Other DWGs are PDFing normal.

AutoCAD MEP 2010
I've used batch plot to make pdf copies of my drawings in version 2004 and did not have this issue:
In 2010 when I use batch plot to pdf (say for 5 drawings), it produces one single pdf file with 5 sheets. I want an individual pdf file for each drawing (5 pdfs).
I don't want to have to open each drawing and plot. That's what batch plot is for!

We have a problem with AutoCAD R2011. The drafter made a rectangle, put some M Text in it, and when he looked at the layout the text does not show up. It's on a visible layer, and when he takes some existing text and sticks it in the rectangle, it works fine. We are just using "MatchProp" to work around the problem. Is there a way to "globally" set the text properties of the drawing to those of a particular instance of text?

How to modify the settings of more than one layout in one go?
I wanted to choose the same printer for many layouts but I found out that I need to modify them one by one.
Some of these layouts have “Adobe pdf converter”, others have the “DWG TO PDF.pc3”. What I need is to set the printer “DWG TO PDF.pc3” for all the layouts in one go.
Software: AutoCAD 2014, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD M3D, Revit
Windows 7 (Ultimate 64 bits),
Firefox 20.0,
Kaspersky 2013.

I received a drawing that has a layout with multiple mviews in it. There is a light grey grid showing in the layout, that I can't make disappear. Grid on / off command has no effect. Really it doesn't matter if the grid is showing, but it's so annoying! Creating a new layout would fix the problem, but is there an easier way to get rid of the grid?

I would like to be able to consolidate my layout tabs. I have a drawing of a factory that is of some size and the plant is continually growing. I like having all of my information in one place as the drawings (one .dwg file) change. AutoCAD is not capable of doing so? I'm not willing to break up into separate dwg files either.
