AutoCAD 2010 :: Publish Command When Set Plotter To 22x34 Sheet
Feb 7, 2013
I am having trouble using the publish command when I set the plotter to a 22x34 sheet. We are able to print to an actual plotter just fine at that size, but when we try and make a pdf set at that size, it just errors out.
The error I get is
"ERROR: The current device does not support the requested media size."

Trying to print multiple drawings. I setup up the first sheet then publish command. I select all the drawings and change the page setup and they all change to the first sheet. Then I press publish and only the first sheet goes. I went through a tutorial on You Tube and did everything but result is the same, only the first sheet.

I want a sheet size that is 24x36, not ansi D of 22x34. I can create it in the Edit Sheet dialog, but then the titleblock reports "Custom Size (inches)", not "D".

While publishing several drawings I am having problems creating Single Sheets, (a customer preference). Even though I have the Multi-sheet/Single-sheet setting set to "Single" Autocad still creates a multi-sheet PDF. I am using Autocad 2012.

I installed AutoCad 2011 on a new computer Win7 Prof Off OS. I'm trying to make single pdfs for each dwg that I have. No matter what I select it keeps making one multi page file of all my dwg sheets.
I've tried going under Publish Options > General DWF/PDF and I've tried both Multi-sheet file and Single-sheet file getting the same results. I have the same problem whether I use Dwg to Pdf.pc3 or my Adobe.pc3 driver.

I am having an issue with saving the merge control variable to "Lines Merge" under the Sheet Set Publish Options. I have full rights to the sheet set file, and can change the variable to make a plot, but it gets reset everytime I close program and reopen.

Using AutoCAD 2013, myself and several other coworkers have encountered an error message when creating a pdf with the publish command. I attached a screen shot of it.
We never experienced this in earlier versions. It doesn't happen 100% of the time, but it has been recurring more in the past month. I have restarted the computer after receiving the message and then invoked the publish command after restart and it was successful. I'm not going to do this every time I publish, nor do I see the need to turn off background plotting. That just seems like a bandaid fix.
I even tried publishing with different page setups to determine if it would react differently to any page setup, but it doesn't. I attached a view of my publish window, as well.

I am having an issue with the sheet set manager's tool to insert sheet list table. I have a new sheet set for a new project that was created entirely in Autocad 2012. When I try to insert a new sheet list table, after I click OK in the Sheet list Table dialoge box, it simply closes to an empty command line with nothing inserted. Why nothing is inserted?

I'm using 2008 and trying to get one side of my plots to be 1/2" from the edge of the paper (from one of the ends, not the sides). When plotting from R14, our plotter understands just fine and prints a standard ARCH D sheet just the way we want it. With 2008, our standard sheet template sits outside the dashed line that indicates plottable area.
I think that autoCAD thinks that the printer can't print that close to the edge, but obviously it can. I've gone into the 'modify paper sizes' options and adjusted the bottom margin to allow enough space for the plot. Plot preview looks fine and nothing is getting cut off, but when I actually print, the printer just prints an extra inch of paper past the margin I redefined so I end up with a sheet that is 24 x 37 and the edge of the plot is still not 1/2" from the edge of the paper like I need it to be.
We are trying to move from R14 to 2008 (and eventually 2014) as the office standard and this is the last hurdle that is baffling us.

We are using a mixture of ACAD 2012 & LT2012. The command '-PUBLISH' is recognised in ACAD2012, but not in LT2012. Therefore several scripts that we have, to publish a .dsd file, do not function on the LT2012 machines.
What are the alternatives?
The end scenario is to be able to create a multi-sheet pdf file, from an .dsd file (that is automatically created via excel), by using a combination of .bat and .scr files - without user intervention.
NB: The .dsd file contains a list of page set-ups that are various views within a single .dwg file.

My company just switched over to AutoCAD 2014 and for some reason the PUBLISH command is not working, or following through with the printing once we complete the required steps to plot.
We are able to select the drawings to be plotted (8"x11" sheets), then successfully bring in our page setup that we created with one of the drawings to be plotted (which we use the same template with the same limits on ALL of our 'drawing templates' we design with.
After we hit the PUBLISH button at the bottom it goes into the background and just stays there with no errors or anything After a little while we end up just having to cancel and plot individually.
We used TrueView to BatchPlot which is identical to the batchplot(publishing) in ACAD 2014 WITH NO ISSUES!

I am attempting to plot drawings to PDF's using publish. My problem is that when I have my sheet files loaded in the publish window, only some of them have the desired plot styles, I can't understand why this is.
I will go into a little more detail, when you select the page setup drop down menu and you are able choose the plot style you desire, various drawings don't have all of the options.
I am fully aware that you can just move a drawing that has the plot style to the top, select all of the drawings at once and you change them all but this is only a temporary solution.

One workstation out of 50+/- when we publish, does not show the drawing prefix on the sheets in the "Sheet Name" list. The attached file shows a good list but that one computer is missing the prefix and if we're attempting to publish several drawings in model space, they would all have the same name so AutoCAD will not allow it because they would all have the same name . How do i get this drawing name prefix back?

With Autocad 2013 we have found an unconsistant problem with overwriting PDF files with same name. This only happens with publish command (ie, can just plot 1 layout to pdf and overwrite no problem). The funny thing is, it doesn't happen all the time - just 50% of the files (and yes, the file is not in use when attempting to overwrite).

I am using the Sheet Set manager to just publish my drawings to the named plotter (Adobe PDF). I an NOT using any fields. I do not have any sheet numbers assigned in the sheet set. Each drawing is a separate file with only one layout tab in each file. On each drawing, the sheet title and drawing number are within an attributed block, with the drawing number in an attribute with a tag of SHEETNO. Everything is in RomanS. Single sheets plot fine. This is the only sheet set.
The problem is that the sheet number are altered when I use Sheet Set Publish to make a multi-sheet PDF. The manually inserted plain-text sheet numbers are all in the format X#.# (A1.1, A2.3, etc.). Two things happen:
1. The number after the period is printed in a different font on all sheets (NOT RomanS - the ends of the stroke are square) .
2. Over half the numbers are changed (the first sheet, the cover, is blank and not changed):
T1.1 -> T1.- (the dash character)
A1.1 -> A1.1 (OK number)
A2.1 -> A2.1 (OK number)
A2.2 -> A2. 1 (note the extra space)
A2.3 -> A2.2
A3.1 -> A3.3
A4.1 -> A4.1 (OK number)
A4.3 -> A4. 2 (note the extra space)
A8.1 -> A8.3
A9.1 -> A9.1 (OK number)
AutoCAD 2009 on Window 7. No other similar problems.
As it is, Sheet Set Publish is useless. (I know, get an updated version of AutoCAD - it's in the works).

Receive a lot of plans from other guys. I can watch them but when I want to plot I have to change the plotter for every layout. Isn't it possible to change the plotter of ALL layouts in one command? That would be easy!

We use an in-house plotstamp (not the acad plotstamp) which uses rtext to show the file path and name. It works fine under all circumstances EXCEPT when we plot using the Publish command. The output from Publish shows the file path as the C:Documents and Settings... where the acad2005 software is installed instead of the correct network drive path where the dwg files are located.
Is there a secret setting somewhere that will keep Publish from changing the rtext? If we switch from rtext to fields, would that eliminate the problem?

I have problem with 3 users from about 75. When using the publish command inAutocad 2010 (1 user) and Civil 3d 2010 (2 users) a temporary copy of the drawing is opened while the particular layout is being published but on completion this temporary copy of the drawing is not being closed. This is leading to problems when a user has lets say 5 drawings open that require publishing. When finished the user has 2 copies of each drawing open and sometimes my select the wrong drawing when making further changes.
I have tried a repair on Autcad but that did not work.

We have our options set to Auto Publish on Save (Autocad 2011). On some of our stations, the PDF will pop up automatically. This is what we WANT to happen. On other stations, the pdf has to be found and then opened to make sure it is correct. (this step, which is apparently way to difficult for some people, is not being performed, leading to extra work/time later to complete the project) I had everyone ensure their DWGtoPDF.pc3 custom properties was set to "open in PDF viewer when done" (and when they do a straight plot, it does come right up) It just wont do it when its thru Auto Publish. Mine is one of them that comes up just fine....I have looked at every setting I have and tried to compare with theirs, but it all looks the same.

after 2013 was installed in my colleagues computer he now has the option to include Layouts when opening the publishing command, which didn't happen before. It is a slight pain removing these from the selection to be published and I was wondering how I get it to only select models and not layouts when opening the publish command as default.

I notice that whenever I plot with DWG to PDF.pc3 the filename for the PDF always comes out as:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name).pdf
Is there any way to change the inputs for this? Let's say for example I wanted AutoCAD to automatically insert a timestamp at the end for me, so that the filename is always:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name)-(date and time here).pdf
This would keep me better organized and also make it easier for my less computer savvy coworkers to go through old drawings and see changes between drawings. I know I could type it by hand every single time, but why do that if there's a way to have AutoCAD do it for me

I have set up a layout tab to print to 22x34. I would like to be able to print it at half scale on an 11x17. So when I print it I set the scale to 1:2. However, even though it prints fine on a 22x34, two edges of my border are cut off when I print to an 11x17. I'm not sure whats causing it, I have tried printing using layout, window, display, and extents but it hasn't worked.
