AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Autosnap Polyline Around Pointcloud - Possible?
May 17, 2013I have a point cloud that i want to snap a boundry around its outer limit. Is there some way to do this automaticly? I tried creating a surface and using the maximum triangle length to get a good boundry. For some reason i loose a lot of pionts at the edges with this boundry. I have removed points that represents water so i have a part in the midddle that i want a boundry around.

Oct 1, 2008I am experiencing a problem where my Autosnap Settings (system variable "autosnap") are not be saved in my Civil 3D session. When I open Civil 3D 09 (SP1), my autosnap variable gets set to some weird number (aka 6768 or -12566). Each time I get into the drawing I need to reset this to 55, or go into my Options-Drafting-Autosnap Settings and toggle on Marker, Magnet, and Display Autosnap tooltip. This is a system variable and should be retained upon entering a drawing file.

Apr 28, 2012I am working with AutoCAD 2012 on a single computer. It appears that the acad.pgp doesn't work. for example when i type DI in command line it refers to:
Command: di DDINSERT
Command: nil
but i have checked the pgp file and in it, the letters DI refer to command DIST. Also in Command Alias Editor they refer to command DIST. I have also tried this:
Command: (findfile "acad.pgp")
and the answer is:
"C:\Users\User\appdata\roaming\autodesk\autocad 2012 -english\r18.2\enu\support\acad.pgp"
AutoCAD 2010 :: ESC Key Stops Working?
Apr 16, 2010As I'm working in 2011 all of a sudden when I want to deselect all I hit the ESC key and objects are still selected. I can right click and select deselect all and that works. If I shutdown AutoCAD and restart the ESC key works again.

Nov 27, 2012When working with layers, AutoCad 2011 goes into a "not responding" mode for a time. The more layers the longer it stays. Ctl,Alt Delete is not the answer.
My system is a Win 7, 32bit, with 4.0 Gb ram.
The system resource moniter is in the 67% MEM usage range. Normal usage is 47% with nothing visible on the display.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Search Box Isn't Working
Jun 26, 2012I've got problems using Acad 2012, i'm sure it isn't a hardware problem since the specs are HIGH
First Problem is, when mouse over an icon/box/whatever you call it (eg. Line tool, Circle tool, etc), it only displays the text, but it doesn't show a blue highlight like it's supposed to do, and when i select it, the Blue highlight does not transfer to it, it remains on the Line tool
Second, The Search box isn't working
Third, when i switch from Drafting & Annotation to something else or vice versa, the tabs remain the same, and is usually accompanied by some annoying lags.
AutoCAD 2010 :: LAYMRG Is Not Working
Feb 28, 2012Every once in a while when I run the LAYMRG command, it just doesn't work. It looks like it's doing something, the screen flashes, like it's merged the layers, but in reality it hasn't and I get no error message as to why the layers weren't merged. Now I can't seem to get the command to work in this one particular file no matter what I do. If I copy elements from both of the layers I want to merge into a new and clean file, it then works.
what can cause LAYMRG to hiccup like this?
PS: I've run an audit and all was good and purged all regapps in case something was interfering with the command.

Nov 8, 2011I have been using the MVSetup command to adjust a view port orientation however when I do this the Pickfirst command is changed to 0 - it was only by chance I discovered this and was able to change it back. Also, is there a command to reset all changes made through MVSetup in a viewport ?

Sep 30, 2009The layer control dropdown in the layer toolbar is just showing the state of the selected object or layer 0 if nothing is selected. Same for the ribbon combo. But it's working in the Quick properties dialog.

Mar 12, 2012For years, I've been scaling viewports in my Layout tabs with this process:
1. MVIEW to make viewport.
2. Switch to MODEL, Zoom, Scale, 1/## XP
3. Switch back to PAPER, MVIEW, Lock, ON.
4. Copy Layout tab
5. In new Layout tab, MVIEW, Lock, OFF.
6. Switch to MODEL
to Pan to the area for Sheet # 2, Zoom, Scale the viewport for that sheet.
In 2012, when I MVIEW, Lock, OFF - it doesn't seem to turn off the Lock on the Viewport. I can't unlock a viewport to re-center / scale it.

For example, the hatch below consist of lines but the “Osnap” can’t see them! Then when trying to draw a line for the point indicated below to the end of the one of the hatch lines then the snap doesn’t indicate the “Endpoint”
Is there a way to let the hatch “feel” the snap?

Mar 15, 2010I have never seen this one before while running a lisp routine: error in dialog file "Y:LispSteel|stl.dc", line 1: warning: redefining object. Symbol:"stl"
stl is a lisp routine we use written in autolisp to insert structural steel members defined by dim files. We have never had a problem with this lisp routine even with the acad 2010 32bit windows XP machines.
- AutoCAD 2010 64bit
- Winows7 64bit
- Network conditions with acad lisps and blocks on the server.
- I have included the stl.dcl file it is having trouble with.
AutoCAD 2010 :: ESC Key On Keyboard Not Working - 2012
May 12, 2011Recently installed the upgrade of AutoCAD 2012 from AutoCAD 2011.
It did not seem to migrate things very well? My PGP did not follow over and in addition to a few other settings.
I use the esc (escape) key to end a string of comands or if I want to go another direction. In AutoCAD 2012 when I hit the esc key on my keyboard it does NOTHING?
It is a key on my keyboard, not a keystroke shortcut?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Marker Won't Run Off
Mar 12, 2012I'm using Civil 3D 2012 and I'm having a hard time to turn off a maker that I didn't recognize in 2011. While having all my Osnap tools turned off, I will make a Fillet between 2 polylines, but an automatic yellow marker keeps poping up on the screen (See PDF attachement).
Is there anyway to turn the yellow marker off?
AutoCAD 2010 :: STRETCH Command Not Working Properly
Feb 21, 2013I am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command.When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?

Jul 16, 2013I am not an AutoCad user but I've got an assignment that would go better if I understood a little bit about how interior designers choose colors in AutoCad.I know there are the three tabbed choices - ACI, "True Colors" and Books.My top questions are:
1) does the user choose an RGB "working space" like one would do in Photoshop or Illustrator (in other words, decide if they want to work in sRGB or perhaps Adobe RGB or ProPhoto RGB). Or is there just one possible RGB - in which case, I guess it must be sRGB.
2) is the data for making up the ACI know, so that one can translate ACI colors to their RGB equivalents?
3) I now that with the HSL model you are picking %s of hue, saturation, and lightness....but what is setting the parameters for what is possible here? Is the HSL just a picker that is overlayed on RGB?

cross hairs turns to arrowdialog box doesn't showbeeps in defiance when trying to selectescape cancels commanddoes not crash HPDLGMODE was adjusted:
(0) does hatch ... without Dialog Box options(1) & (2) changes nothing from above attempts.Hatch Edit (HE) does not give options either.
Commands were working fine last week.
AutoCAD 2010 :: View Cube Stops Working
May 17, 2011The problem is: the view cube doesn't respond and the navigation pane/tool/group doesn't respond either. If i click on any of the tools it doesn't register in the command line.
The view cube stops working after some amount of time (or clicks) regardless of what I've been doing. If I switch to another drawing the view cube works fine there. If I close the (not working) drawing and open again it works fine.
The views under view work.
