I'm trying to make a script that will duplicate an item in the project panel. I know you can duplicate an item in a comp, but I'd like to duplicate a project Item...app.project.item(2).duplicate();
View 2 RepliesI've been using LR3 for over a year - current version 3.6. For no apparent reason, the 'Make second copy' menu item no longer shows in the import panel. Imported files are copied to the location specified the last time the item was available. I've looked in all of panels, but don''t find any way to disable the second copy function, or to manage the second copy function. I'm running MAC 10.6.8.

We have a project that has some filled regions causing graphics issues. What happens is the plan elements around a filled region are being transposed onto the filled region causing a "ghosting" affect on the filled region. See attachment.
It is happening in both Arch and MEP and I've tested it with update 2 and update 3 installed. No changes with an audit either.
I know how to set a poster frame for a comp (With comp selected, Composition>Set Poster Frame) but how does one set the poster frame for a footage item in the project panel? Obviously that option is grayed out as it is under the composition window. Is there any way to do this? Google has failed me. All my clips start with black video and I just want a way to quickly preview what their actual content is using the poster thumbnail.

I duplicated a title so that I wouldn't have to make it from scratch again. The problem I'm having is whenever I change the text in the new title it changes it to the original as well. What do I do to make this stop?
In After Effects CC/CS6 how do u copy a scene and unlink it from the orginal source? It doesn't matter if I copy or duplicate a scene, it will also change it in the original..I have some text I want to change in the copied/duplicate scene, the rest I want it to be the same.

View 3 Replies View Related I'm having an issue with the Layers panel, which is docked to my Comp panel, freezing my system whenever I try to click into any other panel. I can open a project, click on a layer to do some painting and then if I try to go back to the Comp panel...it freezes. My only solution is to open the Task Manager and shut down AE. If I save everything before I try to get out of the Layers panel then I am okay but that getting old fast.
I'm working on an hp Z420 Workstation. This system is entirely new as of December 2013 and there haven't been any major issues but this has popped up and it's getting in the way of production.
is there a way to see a reference background in the layer panel when painting or erasing? I dont want to paint on that second layer, only see it in the layer panel.

When I try to open it, it get to 81% and then stops. The software then crashes if I try to do anything.
I have deleted some of the source file the project it useing but this should not stop it from opening.
I have tried searching to no avail. Of course, the opposite is true, too. It would be nice to have a shortcut key that expands all of the effects.

If I make edits to the compositions of the nested project, are those changes saved back to the nested project's orginal file? If I alter the original nested projects file, how much will it change instances of it nested in other projects?
I was working on a project just fine until when I went to open it this morning. When I open it, AE crashes with either this message:

There are no special plugins being utilized in the project I am working in, only several Illustrator files. I'm not sure how dynamic link has anything to do with this because i'm not using it with Premiere Pro. All I know is that the project worked fine when I closed it last night, and now this is happening. It's a paid job as well, so it's very important that I can open it again.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling CS6 and my video card drivers. Just to be clear, AE opens just fine, it's only opening this specific project that gives the crash.

Everytime I try to open my Project File in After Effects CC, it tries to open it, but then freezes. Really frustrating and this project is for a job that I am doing. Put in a lot of work to start over again.

I tried opening a different project, and a similar error occurs, but with a different plugin. This time it's the Paint plugin. After Effects error: crash occurred while invoking effect plug-in "Paint".
Once I have imported my footage how do I rearange them in the project bin. I can't seem to grab a clip and move it into the position in list I want ( similar to arranging clips in PP or FCP )
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to add a camera to my project but when I do, instead of just popping up in the layer section it also pops up lines in the actual project, which is not supposed to happen.Also, when I try to zoom in or do anything with it, the camera lines on the screen reacts to it but not anynthing else.

Adobe illustrator CS5 on Mac OS X 10.7.4.
I used to be able to do something like effect->3d-> revolve, then go to the actions panel and bring up the 3D revolve, click on it and edit it again. Now, when I open the actions panel the simple 3d revolve is replace with a long long list of actions of course I can't bring up the 3d revolve effect and edit it.
I have removed all of the Illustrator prefs in my library file; but, it still does it.
Open Effects>Stylise>Rounded Corners, Turn on Preview (BTW how do I make PREVIEW ON! as the default for all effects panels/windows?)Now I want to Hide the Bounding Box and the Edges... but those shortcuts are now inoperable.
Photoshop allows me to hide bounding box, and the rulers, I think, when having an effect window open, why does Illustrator not permit this?Is there an alternative other than canceling out and starting again with the view qualities changed?
Seems needlessly long winded to cut off these shortcuts just because an effects settings window/panel is open.
I have some very long movies and want to insert some short parts of it in the timeline.So i open the movie in the footage panel mark in and out point and press ovelay insert to insert this part in the timeline.Next time i open the same movie in the footage panel to mark the next part i want to insert in the timeleine, my timeline playhead jumps to the time where my playhead of the footage panel is in this clip. is it possible to unlink the footage panel and the Timeline?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to open a Photoshop "video" project in After Effects? I have someone painting on video but I need to tweak it in AE. I can import it but it sees just the first frame and makes it a still image for the length of the comp.
Also, I am only seeing "Photoshop Sequence" and "h.264 Quicktime" as options for video export from PS. I have all the flavors of Quicktime when rendering from AE (ProRes HQ), etc. Couldn't PS do the same?
i have a certain tv-promo-project where i have to render several comps which all include the same amount of text and just a hand full of additional graphic elements, e.g. a lensflare and a glowing line which separats the text blocks.
The text of the specific promo-comps are read out of a "main text comp" by expressions. The expression is as follows:

The rendertimes of the project are constantly slowing down as the render queue and the process goes on. The first comp takes about 8 Minutes to render (it is only 10 sec long) and the second already 20 min, where the third comp reaches like 2 hours of render time. I also recognized that even the preview in the timeline is really slow, although the used effects are usually not that performance heavy.
After Effects CS6: Cache and Reload Footage Problem
I am having trouble getting my footage to update in an AE project.
In an existing project, there is an image sequence in a composition. I have saved and closed AE, modified the footage (same dimensions and qty. of frames, only the pixel data changes), and then re-launched AE and opened the project. Though I have changed the footage, the old content still appears. I have done the following:
Edit>Purge>All Memory
Edit>Purge>Image Cache Memory
Edit>Preferences>Media & Disk Cache>Empty Disk Cache[code].....
None of these got the footage to update. I could double-click on the footage in the project bin and scrub the play head and the old footage was still displayed.Finally I had to replace the footage with itself and that resolved the issue.
If this is operator error, lack of understanding the cache functions, or something else. I don't recall this behavior in CS 5.5, so I am guessing this is a change in CS 6.
