Nov 13, 2008I am NOT a professional in photoshop and am working for the Gov't in a Computer Forensic case. My question is: The other side says that they can use a hex editor and carve out a thumbnail from a JPEG. (Which I can do In Encase)However they contend that the image can have a watermark or the date visibly stamped and thumbnail will not show this insformation.
In other words, can a thumbnail be visibly different than the image it comes from? The image came from a Canon Powershot camera.

Jul 17, 2007In AutoCAD 2006 and previous versions when we had to create a new STANDARD material with a pattern/texture map and attach it to a selection set of objects, first of all we had to load render.arx (arxload “render.arx”) and then we had to call the following function:

The above function checks if a material with name matname exists and if not then it creates a new STANDARD material with name matname, material color (-1.0 -1.0 -1.0), which means derive the color from an object’s ACI (diffuse color), color-weight factor 0 (the amount of diffuse color) and a pattern/texture which is described in the list (list matfile 1.0 1 nil nil nil 1 1). The following table describes the pattern/texture arguments:
matfile name of the bitmap file
1.0 amount of map color to use
1 tile(repeat the patterns)
nil u and v scale factors (AutoCAD used the default values)
nil U and V offsets (AutoCAD used the default values)
nil (reserved by Autodesk)

It was not necessary to define CreateNewMaterial with all these arguments, but I do it for future purposes.
In the attached file you can see the definition of MaterialExists, CreateNewMaterial and some other functions:
MaterialExists: Checks if a material exists.
DefaultNewMaterial: Default values for new materials. I have used the AutoCAD defaults, but one can modify them accordingly.
CreateNewMaterial: Creates a new material. If one needs more information on the meaning of the arguments I think Ralph Grabowski’s “Tailoring AutoCAD Rendering” is a good start.
AttachMaterialToEntity:Attaches material to objects
MaterialByLayer: Modifies an object to have material by layer.
AttachMaterialToLayer: Attaches material to a layer.
As you can see I don’t use vlax functions, because I write the code for OEM programming purposes. You can change the functions accordingly.
3ds Max :: Create A Number Of Models / Scenes And Applied Materials / Textures To Using Bitmaps
Dec 6, 2013I created a number of models/scenes and applied materials/textures to them using bitmaps that are in another folder.
I then created sub-folders for each of the models/scenes because I wanted to export to .obj and then copied the .max files to those folders. I then opened those .max files and the materials/textures were showing as normal.
I then exported to .obj, so in each sub-folder I then had 1 x .max, 1x .obj & 1 x .mtl files. Problem is that if I now open the original .max files in the normal way, the materials/textures are not showing and a message comes up saying that the bitmap files are missing. I don't understand why this is, seeing as the .mtl files are there in the sub-folders along with the .max & .obj files.

Feb 27, 2014I have a Revit file with over 1,000 materials and associated appearance assets. It was created in a previous version of Revit before library support. What I want to do is create libraries from them. However, the only instructions to add them one at a time using dragging and dropping. That will take me days to do. Is there a way to simply create an asset or material library out of multiple materials from a project file at one time without having to individually select them?

I've got it working but it seems to me that my solution may not be the best or the "right" way to do it. I found out quickly that each layout needs it's own *Paper_Space# BlockTableRecord and I've resorted to creating one myself. In the code below, you can see that I name my new layout "*Paper_Space". It ends up getting named "*Paper_Space#" in the database, where the # gets incremented automatically. Is this the right way to do it?

Feb 12, 2013recently switched from 2007 to 2010. All of my dwgs in 2010 were created in 2007. When trying to create a pdf of any drawing from any layout...adobe has difficulty reading layer/plot style info...it prints everything gray. I've tried pretty much everything and now think it has to do with importing something (maybe plot style?) from my earlier version? I don't know... need getting my plot style to be read properly by adobe.

A) I want to create a copy of an existing layout, which i can do easily. However is there a way to make 30 copies without doing each one manually?
B) I have all my layouts set up the same way. Now i want to change all my 30 layouts in the page setup manager to print A4 instead of A3, and to print Landscape instead of Portrait.

Now I want to predefine a layout, where the projected views should gonna be, independent which .ipt file I have.
Do I create a new .idw and make it look like I want, then save it and open it within the application?
But if I change the savepath it ask me where the file (.ipt) is.
So now I could choose my one, right? But how can I choose my .ipt file in the application?
It won't let me do an operation like openwith or something like that.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Profile Layout From Feature Line
Oct 4, 2012I want to create a profile layout by feature line. Is it possible?I have a pipe about 3 miles long, an alignment along the pipe, and a provie view showing the exisitng surface and pipe network. The pipe network was created from a feature line. I projected the feature line to the profile.
This is why I want to do this: I need to label the horizontal and vertical angle points of the pipe in plan view. I crated a style that shows the station and elevation. I want the elevation to reference the profile. But it only gives me the elevation of the surface and I need the top of pipe elevation.
I tried crate profile by layout and traced over the top of the pipe in profile but its 3 miles and it will take a long time. How to get what I want done faster?

May 2, 2012I'm trying to create a simple 2x4 ceiling grid hatch for layout planning, but AutoCAD keeps giving me an error when I try to use it.
Here's the custom hatch that I wrote at the very end of the acad.pat file:

When I load up ACAD, it shows the hatch in the selection, but after I've defined the area and I try to apply the hatch, I get this error in the command line:

Sep 14, 2012I am creating construction plans sets that require 3 road profiles for the left edge, center and right edge. I would like to dynamically link the center line profile with the edge profiles.
I have created alignment offsets to obtain the existing surface at the offset location. I would like the edge profiles to have a vertical offset from the center profile. Also if I modify the center profile I want it to dynamically adjust the edge profiles.
