Apr 19, 2011I used BRUSHED STEEL, in Arch & Design, now I have to change the color of this material, from grey brushed steel into yellow/gold brushed steel!
Can this be done?

3ds Max :: Arch And Design Templates Missing?
Oct 12, 2012So I've started to work on materials and lighting and a lot of tutorials show using the arch & design templates. problem is that i don't have any templates listed. the list is completely empty. Can i install these, or fix this? If its just a file missing, I'm not sure which it would be or where it would be at.

3ds Max :: Arch And Design Metal Coming Out Transparent?
Feb 7, 2013I am using some A&D MR metal material in my scene and it is coming out transparent. The same is happening for any material that has a shine/reflection. It looks like a poor quality 'cloaking device' type effect.
I am rendering with Mental Ray using a bitmap environment background, daylight system and MR photographic exposure.
System information: Win7 x64 / 3DSMax Design 2014 SP3 / AutoCad 2014 SP1 Lenovo E30 ThinkStation Xeon E31225 Quadcore @3.10Ghz PNY GTX760 XLR8 2GB (334.89 Driver) 24Gb Ram Corsair 650w PSU
3ds Max :: Mental Ray Render - Arch And Design Drop Down Template Missing
Feb 17, 2014I just finished installing autodesk 3ds max 2012-64 bit. There's a small problem that im facing due to which my work is getting delayed.
Description:
1. The model is completed.
2. Renderer is assigned to 'mental ray'.
3. When in the material editor, when i click on "Arch and Design", the drop down template is MISSING.
Installation was perfectly fine.
3ds Max :: Arch And Design Material Refraction Shows As Thin-walled In Preview When Set To Solid
Nov 26, 2012recently i got a new workstation at work, and i am puzzled with one problem. I made a clean installation of Max, ran it, and started to work, but for some reason, my material thumbnail shows refraction of A&D material as thin walled even when it is set to solid.
I tried to uninstall max, wipe max directory and user folders in Appdata/Local/Autodesk, reinstall everything again
Happens both in slate and compact ME.

We do have a storm drain system running perpendicular above it and need to show the arch as a crossing. Corridor would work but I think I would prefer a pipe network-type solution.

Feb 24, 2014Some of the lighter, saturated colors in the PANTONE+ swatches library appear to be a different color in the swatch list than they are when applied to a design. see below for screen shots.
i can duplicate this situation on calibrated NEC MultiSync monitors and uncalibrated laptops. We are running on Mac OS X.8x and above.
Designers are complaining about not being able to pick a color from the Swatch Library in AICS6 or AICC. InDesignCC does not seem to have the same issue.

Nov 5, 2013I desire to have the shell of my tower have it's outer face to be red on some models and white on other models it's used in. I figured I could do this using a design view, however if I only change the color of the outer face in a design view, it seems to change it across all views.
If I change the color of the entire shell, then the design views seem to remain unique from one another. I don't really understand why the entire color of my part has to change, is there any form of workaround is this just a limit of the software? Attached is an image showing the issue.

Oct 19, 2011I have a main assembly with two major subassemblies with one of them I want the representations to be set as Defualt instead of master but when I do this and change the size of my parts Inventor crashes, if I leave it set to master it works fine but parts with visibility turned off still show in the iam and dwg files. If I try to change the representation after changing dimensions Inventor also crashes. I can individually open the sub assemblies and everything works fine.

Aug 11, 2011I'm finally wrapping up work on an iLogic Configurator project and have started to brainstorm the best workflow to get this "Smart Assembly" into the design group's hands. I had been anxiously awaiting the new "iLogic Design Copy" feature in IV2012, but just recently learned that users are unable to effectively rename any components with this command.
Is this really true? If we can add prefixes or suffixes, what's stopping us from changing the entire filename? We haven't upgraded to 2012 yet, but it seems like this may be a silly and unjustifiable restriction to a command that would otherwise save our designers hours of "file-management" (ie, manually renaming parts in Explorer, component replace in assy's, replace references in idw's, etc) each week.
Long story short, it seems that every workflow I've come across has had some sort of silly limitation that makes it undesireable for my application:
My top-level assembly contains all of the rules, and changes parameter values in the referenced skeletal parts. It also swaps standard parts for other standard parts as needed.I need access to rename ALL files (idw's, top-level assembly, subassemblies, and base components) while still maintaining/updating all internal hyperlinks between them.iLogic rules must be carried over to the new copied components (the existing "Copy Assembly" command strips the assembly of all rules). In light of the iLogic Design Copy's apparent shortcomings, any better workflow?
Illustrator :: Trapping All 3 Layers Of Color In Design - Screen Printing As Poster
Feb 25, 2013I was wondering if I need to "trap" all 3 layers of color in this design which will be screen-printed as a 16x20 sized poster. In some parts of the design, I purposely made the colors a bit offset. But the printer says I must use trapping. I watched a bunch of video tutorials, but none of them seem applicable to this particular kind of artwork, in which I WANT some of the background/paper to show through. But not everywhere. I work in Illustrator CS6.

Jul 2, 2012I have recently upgraded from corel 12 to X6. I work in SignLab e6 on my production computer. Now since I have upgraded when I export files from x6 and import them into SignLab e6 they will not import unless I change everything to 1 color. If it does export the file as full color, when I import the file it is converted to 1 color. This takes a lot of time to re color everything. I typically have to export files from Corel as .EPS in order for the file to import into Signlab with best quality, but have been using the CMX (legacy) lately with same results. I dont understand why I have to convert them into 1 color nor why they convert from full color to 1 color.

Jan 6, 2013I have a question regarding illustrator. Let's say I have a circle with blue fill and red stroke. And I place an image in the illustrator file. Now I want to change the red stroke of my circle to let's say a purple color by sampling the color from the image.
How can I achieve that with a eye dropper tool? Every time when I try to sample a color from the image, the whole circle will change to purple instead of just the stroke? I have tried multiple key combination, shift, alt, ctrl but they all don't work.

May 22, 2013How I choose a color for any new objects I want to create. I've opened the toolbox with ctrl-b, which appears on the left side of the window. If I want to , for example, draw a red rectangle, I use the rectangular selection tool, then the bucket fill, and I don't see how to change the foreground color to red.
I've read elsewhere in the forum that there should be two rectangles somewhere on the screen that show foreground and background color, but I don't see them anywhere.
