3ds Max Animation :: Weight Painting On Separate Objects?

I'm asking specifically about rigging a gun, where there are about 3 moving parts.
 
I'm not able to paint weights when it's all put together, so need them separate, and need to assign bones exclusively to each moving part.

I've migrated from Maya to 3ds Max for character animation and was wondering - When I apply a skin modifier then go to 'Edit envelopes' - is there an equivalent to maya's artisan interface? i.e. Can I paint weights with a brush rather than vertex by vertex or entering numbers?

3ds Max Animation :: How To Make Two Separate Copies Of Animated Objects

I have an object with several animation layers. When I clone(copy) it, the new object also has the same animation layers. That should be OK.

The weird thing is, when I start to mess with the animation layers of the second object. If I disable, lets say, layer02 on the second object, it affects(disables) layer02 on the first one. Somehow the objects are connected through the animation layers.

Is this the normal behavior of the animation layers? And if it is, how can I make two separate copies of the animated objects?

3ds Max Animation :: Transfer Weight Map Between Bone

I have an old figure that is high poly and skinned to a bone skeleton. I want to rig it to a CAT rig for some of its quick animation features. Ultimately I want to be able to export the model into UDK to learn 3d demonstration and game development.

I have aligned a CAT rig to match the bones of the old figure. If I select and link the bones to the respective bones in CAT rig I can get the figure to animate perfectly and quickly, but when I export to the UDK through FBX the figure is severely distorted. I've found that the old rig needed to match the rotational axis order to the new CAT rig bones which worked a little on several of the limbs, but the initial translation of each bone does not get transferred giving an offset to the bones that still distorts the figure.

I want to rig the character with the CAT, but the figure uses painted vertex weights. I could spend an immense amount of time to try and replicate the quality done by the vertex weights, but if there is a tool or script that could speed up the process. I am looking for a tool that would be able to transfer vertex weights between bones. Ideally I'm looking for a workflow like so

1. Load figure
2. Add CAT bones to skin
3. Edit envelopes
4. Select bones or vertexes to copy
5. Copy vertex weights
6. Select bone destination
7. Paste vertex weights

The paste should then delete the influence on the original bone to complete the process.

I've seen something very similar to what I've been needing from this artist that goes by the name of Sun Dawei. A search for "Dawei Sun transfer vertex skin weight" minus the quotes gives you a video that would visually show the process I'm looking for. I don't know the policy on putting links for videos that I don't own so I won't put the actual link here.

I would like the script that Sun Dawei developed, but I could not find a download for it. He might have wanted to keep his work private, so I'll respect that.

how to edit revit objects in 3dsMax. How do I separate objects to make them individual objects? In other words, when I try to select the roof, I get ALL objects that are "dimensional lumber" i.e. I joists, roof, fascia, etc.

I tried selecting a roof polygon and making a copy and editing it but still when I apply materials to this polygon they apply to all of the dimensional lumber. Probably because I made a copy as a clone but it didn't give me the "copy" option.

Maya Animation :: No Color Feedback With Paint Weight Tool

I've been learning about skinning and weight painting. I have a problem where I don't see any color feedback on my mesh when I paint it. My vertices move with my brush strokes but I'm basically painting blindly as I can't see the colors. In all tutorials that i've found on the subject, they just activate the tool and the mesh turns black (or colorful depending on their settings)

Photoshop Elements :: How To Move Elements Of Painting To Separate Layer

I would like to move elements of that painting onto a separate layer.   What is the best way to do this?   An example of this would be a painting with the moon in a night sky.   I might want to move that moon object into a separate layer.
 
My reason for wanting to do this is I want to change the background of the painting without worrying about doing fine details around the objects I am moving. A second benefit of moving the objects to a layer is that I can then easily move the location of those elements in the painting around, trying to reposition them.
 
can I get all of the elements I am moving onto a SINGLE layer AND still have the ability to move those elements around separately?  If I want to move 10 elements in a painting to a separate layer, it is REALLY inconvenient to have to put those into 10 separate layers and constantly maintain naming of these different layers.

Maya Animation :: Painting Weights On 2 Very Small Stubborn Verts?

I need to paint the weights of two verts to cling to the middle back. These verts are on arrows that are stuck in a quiver. The quiver is painted to one back joint, as are the top of the arrows. However, the tips of the arrows are painted to the clavical.

 I went into the component editor to try to weight them manually to the back, but in the CE, in smooth skins, they are weighted (1.0) to the clav. I know how to weight a vert to different bones if the CE lists them at the top, but since these verts are only weighted to the clav I don't have the option to set the clav weight to 0 and the back joint as 1. And, obviously, I don't know how to manually add the joint I need into the CE to weight it to 1 and kill the influence on the clav to 0. 

I tried massively increasing my clip plane to zoom in, doesn't work. The paint weights brush just will NOT pick these verts up.

I'm wondering if I can use "File > Export > Send video to preview device" to play an open timeline document on a separate monitor, while at the same time working on the document on my computer.
 
For example, I want to do an animation demonstration. I want to be able to work on the animation on my computer (adding new frames/video layers, and drawing on them), and have a preview of the whole video play continuously on a separate monitor, without me having to stop and and switch back and forth between working and previewing.

Photoshop :: How To Overlay Watermark Onto Many/ Separate/ Individual Layers Of Animation

For theoretical purposes, let's say that I am building an animation and that I have 10 layers in this animation thus far.  Now, let's say that I would like a watermark to be overlay on every single one of these individual layers.
 
The only way that I would know how to do this would be to make a layer with the watermark, duplicate it nine times so that there were a total of ten layers with the watermark and then painstakingly go about the process of merging one layer of the animation with with one layer of the watermark and then repeat this process nine more times.
 
Whenever this situation comes up, whether it is a watermark or a correction of some sort that belongs on ALL LAYERS and I do this the only way that I know how, I think to myself that with something as powerful as CS 5, there has GOT to be an more automated and easier way of going about this.

On illustrator cs6, I have a complex shaped with a gradient fill. when I go to expand there is an option that says Expand Gradient and you select the amount of objects. so I selected 6 objects, and the expand tool did what I expected, my object got divided into 6 objects with fill colors relative to the gradient.
 
so I hit undo, and I moved a stop on my gradient slightly to affect the results a bit, and now it wont expand the same way. my gradient stays a gradient. I tried drawing new shapes with gradients and the gradient wont expand.

Is there a way to assign just specific vertices to a bone by selecting a separate part of an object? Like for example, I have a model of a gun which I'm trying to rig now and this gun has two barrels, one obove the other, and each of this barrel needs to be assign to a different bone. CorelDRAW X5 :: How To Merge / Flatten / Join Separate Layers (objects)

I came across this site a few weeks ago and was happy to see that a community like this existed. I am new to CorelDraw and have been playing around with it because my friend just bought a Roland GX-24 vinyl cutter and I wanted to make some designs for it. I, however, am overly experienced with Photoshop and not enough with CorelDraw, but would like to balance that out.

I came across my recent predicament when I exported my CorelDraw image into Roland CutStudio and it wanted to cut all the underlying curves from each layer, instead of the black and white image as it appeared. I wasn't surprised this happened because I couldn't figure a way to join/ merge the curves before I exported, but I was still hopeful that it might cut the image as it appeared.

This first object is a blade layer and as you can see from the picture, when selected, its curve goes right through the other spiral object. How can I merge these curves? As it stands right now, I can't even figure out a way to select the two of them at the same time, let alone join the curves.

....and vice versa in this picture, the spiral object when selected goes right through the blade

....and in the foremost layer of the image when selected, the curves also continue through the spiral

Here is a picture of the current layers for this whole image. The front layer I paint bucket filled numerous portions of it with white so it stuck out above the bottom two other layers, so all the fills make it a group of 161 objects, and the next layer is a group of 2 objects which are the spiral and the blade from the first 2 pictures.

My question is how can I merge or join all the curves in the entire image, essentially flattening the whole image as it appears?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: How To Separate Objects With Coincident Grips

I have a block which represents a piece of equipment on a factory floor.  It has two subcomponents which are blocked with the main equipment.  Consider a rectangle and two smaller circles blocked together.  Each of the subcomponents (circles) has a point parameter and a move feature so that the components can be moved independently from each other and from the main equipment. 

Here's the issue: If a user accidentaly (or purposely) places the grip from one of the subcomponents snapped to the grip of the other subcomponent, then the two seem forever attached; when I try to grab the grip of one of the subcomponents to separate them, both grips get selected and both components move together.  At this point the two components appear to be inseparable with the grips permanently joined.

Here's the question: Is there a way to separate the two components once their grips are made coincedent?  Or is this a case of "just don't snap the grips together"?  I'd like there to be a way to pull the components apart.

Illustrator :: Cannot Create Clipping Mask On 3 Separate Text Objects

I have created custom text, so that each letter in my 3 letter word is a separate compound object.
 
Now I have made a filled (with gradient) ellipse and rectangle behind the text to create a clipping mask with all 3 text objects. (see image1) However, when I select all the objects and select: object>clipping mask >make, it only mask the one letter, which is the one on top. (see image 2)
 
However, when I group the 3 letters together, it does not create a clipping mask at all, it shows nothing... (see image 3)
 
How do I ake all 3 letters be in the mask?
