3ds Max Animation :: Correct Wheel Rotation Using Parameter

Jan 16, 2014

I used to do this all the time. Now I cant remember how to do it properly, if possible a screenshot of how to do the maths in the Parameter wiring box. Getting the circle to travel along this line without scripting.

What should have been a 5 minute job has turned into about an hour.

Maya Animation :: Control Curves Rotation Axis Coinciding With Joint Rotation?

Jul 15, 2011

When setting up a simple FK control curve on say the wrist for example, many times the control curve isn't exactly perpendicular to the local rotation axis of the joint movement, so when we position the control curve to be perpendicular to the joint - it has a rotational value added, but the rotational handles are lines up with the rotational handles of the joint that we want to move.

Freeze Transformations: then the control curves rotational handle go back to being skewed (out of alignment with the joints)

We want to Freeze transformations before constraining the curve, but we'd really to keep those rotations control handles to remain aligned with the joints rotational handles. This will make it an exact control when animating - grab the rotational handle of the curve, rotate it, and the joint will move exactly in the proper direction.

how to get the rotational handle of any control curve to run perpendicular to the shape after freezing transformations?

3ds Max :: Wheel Rotation On A Horse Wagon With 2 Wheels

Mar 28, 2012

Been working to get the wheels to rotation for 14 days or more and finally i hit the wall now.

I linked it with gizmos and could rotate left and right and move it forward and backward everything works very well. I also used wire parameters and linking the gizmos.

The other way i made it was with motion controllers, position list, position xyz, rotation list and ruler xyz and, i did add couple of those and i also used wire parameters, it also worked very well.

BUT, doesn't matter which i use, as long i rotate the wagon more then 180 degrees, the wheels rotates backwards, How to solve that without using max script, path follow nor splines or lines.

I want to move the wagon by moving 1 gizmo, dummy or point and keep the freedom without linking it to spline or lines.

3ds Max :: Steering Wheel Rig - Wire Parameter Option

Oct 11, 2012

I have modeled a car and rigged it fully with roll, till, steer, and wheels spinning. Then I realized that my steering wheel wasn't involved in the animation and when I linked it's rotation to the rotation parameter of the steering wheel to the x position of the steering rig (the red circle in front of the wheels) the steering wheel rotates in a rather bizarre way. So I tried everything I could find on the net to solve this problem, from turning the rotation from Euler to TCB (that didn't work), then I added a dummy into affect and that didn't work either.

I rotated the dummy inline with the steering wheel and aligned it's pivot points to the steering wheel, the wheel seems to rotate nicely when I rotate the dummy. But it all falls apart once I link up the steering rig to the dummy.

Also to note, it seems impossible for me to select the "wire parameter" option from the steering wheel, it seems I have to originate this link somewhere else to the steering wheel for the link to be made possible. Could it be because the steering wheel was a different file and merged in later on?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Rotation Translation - Get Circumference Of Wheel To Rotate 360 Degrees

Dec 23, 2013

I have Autodesk inventor standard NOT the pro version. I am a Revit professional in dire need of learning Inventor. My exact steps are as follows:

1. Open assembly
2. create component - (simple wheel(cylinder) with an off axis hole in the middle so I can see if it is rotating.)
3. create component- flat surface.
4. constrain the cylinder to the flat surface via a tangent constraint
5. constrain the cylinder to the front edge of the flat surface via a mate constraint.
6. go to motion tab in constraint's, click rotation-translation, type in 10in for distance.
7.wheel does not rotate on surface like a wheel should. There is no affect of the surface on the wheel rotation.

In other words I want to get the circumference of the wheel to rotate 360 degrees as it travels pi*diameter of flat surface.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Set Parameter For End Value Of Parameter Animation

Dec 19, 2011

I got a deadline for my project, but I got a big problem:

"I cannot set the "parameter" for the End Value in Parameter Animate dialog"

For easy understand, let's see a example:

1. I got a part which has two parameters named: "A" and "MaxA"
2. I animate Favorited parameter A.
3. The End Value is MaxA_ (Everything is ok)
4. I finish Studio environment, then I change parameter MaxA_ from 200 mm to 400 mm
5. I turn back to Studio environment, the End Value now is "200 mm" (I want this will be MaxA_, so I can animate the flexible parameter).

show me how to keep the end value will be "MaxA_" after I change parameter?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Rotation Parameter

AutoCAD .NET :: Insert Entities At Correct Coordinates And Rotation

Dec 6, 2011

My application inserts 4 DBText lines and 2 PolyLines into a drawing from another drawing(or Source Database). I created a special layer ("warning") into which these entities are inserted. Then I combined these entities into a group so the user can move it out of the way while they are working.

When the title block data is refreshed, I want to redraw my 4 lines of text and 2 lines at the location last set by the user. I have successfully implemented redrawing the object at the X and Y coordinates last placed by the user by using ent.TransformBy(Matrix3d.Displacement(acVec3d) on each entity at the source and then doing a DBSource.WblockCloneOjbects to put them in the destination drawing at the correct position.

However, if the user rotates the group, I need to make the rotation also. This is where I'm having problems. What is the best way to grab the rotation value(s?) from the existing, user placed group, and then redraw onto the drawing at that rotated value? Is there an easier implementation that the way I am doing it?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Dynamic Block Rotation Parameter

Jan 7, 2013

I have a block that I'm trying to convert for dynamic use.

In the first image, you'll see the items that I want to have rotatable in blue.  The items in red should NOT rotate.  That part seems to work fine.  But the items that do rotate don't behave as expected.

I created the rotate parameter selecting the center of the red circle as the base point.  Shouldn't that cause ALL the items to rotate about that center point?

As you'll see from the second image, the blue line rotates about some other point.

EDIT:  Well I guess it only does it if I have the blue horizontal line defined with a length constraint.  I also need to have that line dynamic--I need to make it longer/shorter.

I've attached a dwg file with the block in it--it's at the top of the block list (___SectMark2).

3ds Max Animation :: Correct Parameters To Mirror Animation

Aug 28, 2013

I'm making a game with TRLE (Tomb Raider Level Editor), and I often make animations. But the software I use (WADMerger) is very limited. And some animations now need mirrored versions. So I chose 3DS Max to do this! (the main animations are finished, I just need to mirror them)

The problem is: I can't seem to find the correct parameters to mirror my animations. If I've understood well, 3DS Max mirrors the model, and not the animations... But that's the way I'd like to do. I used the classic Mirror tool, with all possible combinations, but it won't work the way I want (by the X axis). And I haven't found any other tool to do that (but maybe I'm not using the good key words?)

Knowing the only keys available Position+Rotate keys for one mesh (Lara's hips), and only the Rotate keys for all the other meshes: do you know how I could mirror my animations, and not the meshes?

AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Constraint Stability - Rotation Parameter

Jan 22, 2012

I have been trying unsuccessfully for several days to achieve a stable setup for the attached. This is the closest I have been able to get so far but as you can see if you change the width then the rotation parameter, the stability of the block very quickly breaks down.

The problem seems to be associated with the move action which determines the center point of the angle parameter. It seems to only work properly when you change the width parameter and the rotate handle is in the 180deg. Any other position of the angle parameter results in incorrect alignment of the geometry.

AutoCad :: Dynamic Block With Rotation Parameter Not Working With Attributes?

Mar 6, 2013

I have an interior elevation callout block with four arrows, noting the N, S, E, W interior wall elevations. I trick I use to rotate Text while keeping the Text oriented in the upright position is to place a Point Parameter at the center of the text then set the "Chain Actions" to Yes. Then I use the Move Action to tie the text to the Point Parameter. Next step is to use a Rotation Action to select only the Point Parameter, which rotates the Point Parameter and brings the text along with it, keeping the text oriented in the upright reading position always. As an example, think about a viewport tag with a North arrow, and the letter "N" at the arrow tip. When you rotate the arrow, the "N" position rotates with the arrow's point but always is oriented upright.

3ds Max Animation :: Rotate A Set Of Wheels Like Locomotive Train Wheel

Aug 20, 2011

I am trying to rotate a set of wheels that are moving like a locomotive train wheel and having problems. I was able to animate the wheels to move like a locomotive wheel by linking and turning off the z axis inherit for the red rod (see attached images. Image ex04.jpg.)

The problem came when it was time to rotate the whole thing. I grouped everything and rotated the wheels around as a group. As the red rod had is z axis inherit turned off once it started to detach from it location(ex06.jpg), which was kind of expected.

I am not sure what to do to solve this problem. Do i create a bone structure with IK handles to resolve this problem or is there something else better to solve this problem?

Photoshop :: 2d Rotation Animation

Apr 7, 2007

I'm trying to do a simple little emoticon animation: A ":-)" turning 90 degrees CW in CS2. I type in the text on a transparent background, get the animation panel, duplicate the frame and select the second frame.

Now, the idea is simply to rotate the layer/image in the second frame, leaving the first frame as it is. I'm able to move and do various other tweaking to the second frame independently of the first but not rotation. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

(I tried making two different layers, one for each end state, and setting the visibility to 0% and 100% respectively, but this merely produced a fading in/out animation, not the rotation I was hoping for)

Maya Animation :: Finger SDK Rotation

Sep 30, 2011

I set up SDKs on my character's fingers. Everything was working fine. Fingers rotated properly from the open hand "0" position to a closed fist at the "10" position. I have the hand set up as the Driver and the fingers as the driven.

I then wanted my IK arm to work in FK, so I went into my attribute editor for IK pole vector constraint and checked on "IK/FK Control". I did a few rotations of the elbow joint and everything seemed fine.

I then went back to do some work on my hand, and when I when to change the values in my channel box to get the hand to clench, the fingers did not rotate into a fist, but rather went in all directions.

I can get the hand to work correctly intermittently (when I go back to the bind pose), so I know the correct rotation information is there. I have tried deleting history and making sure translations are not set on the hand. Would this be a gimbal or a local vs. global orientation problem?

Also, a side question: I noticed that when I built the SDKs for the fingers, I had numerous "blendWeights" created. Are these weights involved with moving the fingers between the minimum and the maximum values you set in the SDK set-up process?
