3ds Max :: Aliased Object ID Pass
Jul 23, 2012When I assign object Ids to my scene and render out the object ID pass it comes out very stair stepped and chunky. Is there an easy fix?

Jun 24, 2011It is possible extract foreground from image if I have: 1) exact image of foreground and 2) exact image - foreground + object on it ---> so that I can get object which has fine--aliased borders?
I want exact object - so I do not want use Background Eraser, it is possible somehow mathematically?
3ds Max :: Object ID Pass In 2012
Dec 15, 2011I really intrigued to getting the Object ID pass in 3ds Max working properly, for EXR workflow.What i want to do is to add a object ID Pass to give me a RGB pass of my objects according to my G-Buffer ID number and object information.
Example ID 1 = red material (R). but for a wired reason I keep getting different colours assigned to my specified objects. URL....
Xara :: Object Alignment Dialog - Pass Keystrokes To Host?
Aug 10, 2011When I've mis-aligned a group of objects my instinct is to hit Ctrl+Z and try again but the Object Alignment dialog doesn't appear to be passing keyboard commands back to Xara so I have to first click somewhere in the main window, undo and then re-select the Object Alignment dialog.
Not a huge deal but I've just started playing with Xara and thought I'd document quirks as I discover them, as part of my learning curve.

May 4, 2012I will receive a 2D object and a normal pass. And from that I need to create some shperical image that will be mapped on to the image without being in 3D space. I know it's somehow possible in Fusion using some global pointers. Is something similar possible in Smoke?

Mar 27, 2012I have a lot of images that were rendered out of 3DS MAX. A long time ago I recorded an action to make an alpha channel, use it as a mask, and save as 2 different file types. Worked great. Now, I need to open a bunch of these and somehow get rid of the anti aliasing around the image. I need crisp jaged edges. how to make an aliased selection?

Feb 17, 2008This is what you get when you fill something you've drawn with anti alias.
There's an uncolored space between the filling and the contour.
How do I work around this problem?
Is there som setting that can fix it, or do I have to fix it manually?
I've come up with 2 manual methods for fixing this.
Either making the background a similar color to that of the contour (if you've got black contours you use a nearly black background) so that the color in the spaces blends in with the contour.
But this doesn't work if you want to use more than one contour-color...

I can't do many things that I used to. One in particular is frustrating me beyond.....well anyway.
I just want to to a simple thing...Black background...and a polygon shape with another color. What happens everytime is the edges are antialised or look like a gradient. I want crisp edges and I can't seem to do it.

I want the original triangle, which doesn't lie on pixel edges but between edges ([0,16],[8.5,0],[17,16]), to be painted in such a way that if a pixel is partially in the triangle it gets partially painted. I'm working on a 17x16 size image.

Jun 9, 2009I have a set of images of complex text that has already been rasterized into pixels. My client would like the images transformed with a different background color and different foreground (text) color.
Just replacing the 2 colors of course does not preserve the antialiasing which provides the smoothness. And when I try hand-editing the aliased pixels it takes forever and always looks pretty bad.
Ideally there would be a way to transform the color schema globally so that the 2 foreground and background colors are changed as directed, and all "intermediate" antialias pixels adjust "accordingly". Does such a transformation exist -- can you specify a color transformation that adjusts 2 colors at once?
Or is there a more painstaking process of masks and such? I've tried several versions with masks, selects, feathering etc. but haven't found anything yet that gives professional antialias quality to the final recolored result.

Photoshop :: Multiple Droplets In One Pass
May 5, 2012've been using Photoshop for a while now, since v.5.5. I'm not new to Actions, batches, droplets and the like. However, I've run into the need to process multiple files, in a multitude of ways and seem to be hitting a roadblock.
The current workflow is to take a folder of JPEGs and drop them onto a droplet that turns them into "Antique" look, I repeat the dragging-dropping process again with a Black & White Droplet, then again with a Sepia droplet. Ultimately I'd LOVE to combine the 3 steps into one: dropping the images onto a single droplet (or whatever it takes) and return to have 3 folders full of my derivative images.
My colleagues idea was to add a "revert" step into the original action, do the next steps, revert, etc. This works fine on a SINGLE image—when run solely as Action—but fails when batching because of the saving as a jpeg step.

Mar 1, 2013Does the "high pass sharpening" subdue color saturation of the images? I was creating a photo collage type of art in InDesign. I also used Photoshop to sharpen and resize each individual images.
I used High Pass sharpening with Edge Masks. After readjusting the images in photoshop I saved them with new names and relinked the new file to the InDesign. When I relinked the new image, there was a noticeable degradation of color saturation. The images looked sharper but a lot more grayer or muddish. In photoshop, I didn't change the color space.
So I wondered if the High Pass filter alters the color saturation. Here is the link to my photoshop actions that I used to create the sharpening effect. what caused the color shift in my file
VideoStudio :: Capture VHS Tapes To PC - Analog Pass Through
Oct 27, 2013I'm trying to capture some VHS tapes to PC. I'm using my Sony camcorder DCR-TRV60E as analog-digital converter. This doesn't seem to work, although it's stated in the manual & all over internet that it should work. I'm not sure, but I think my A/V in is broken. I'm able to hear the audio from the connected analog device, but no video. Also the LCD screen on my camcorder is completly blue (as if it's getting no input). This is what I already tried:
1) VHS player > Camcorder A/V in + reviewed all camcorder settings (A/V -> DV out = on; ...)
2) portable DVD-player > camcorder (DVD has a 1-plug A/V out > 1 plug A/V in camcorder)
I'm thinking that my A/V input on the camcorder is broke. Any way to get confirmation? Or am I (still) missing a setting in the camcorder?

Jan 17, 2011I was aware that VS 11 had a major problem with analogue capture including Pass-through, not owning VS11 was not up to date with the exact problem and tended to steer clear of analogue capture issues. I was not aware that the later version X2 also suffered as I can capture analogue without problems.
This is my procedure using Pass-through Video Studio X2/X3
Old Samsung VHS recorder with RCA cables connected via Smart adapter.
3.5 mm video plug connected to Panasonic GS 400 A/V – In
Firewire from Panasonic DV 4 pin to PC firewire 6 pin
Removed tape from camera. Set Panasonic menu to allow DV-Out. Play VHS tape and capture to X2/X3
I normally use DVD for my VHS capture, X3--DV is also available and captures ok. Using X2 Vcd Svcd and Mpeg are also available as capture formats.
As I say I did not realize the problem extended beyond VS 11.

Inventor uses ilogic to pass parameters to the dll - the dll does the number crunching & returns values to Inventor - no interface required.
The tutorial uses an OK button to fire values back & forth - how can I do this without a button? I would like this to fire in the background without a form appearing.
