I have no problem with transparency in Xtreme. I cannot seem to get it to translate to the internet. When I convert to PNG or Gif I get no transparency just a black rectangle.

In PGD 2013 it works fine - PNG is saved with a transparent background.
However, in PGD 9, it saves with a white (non-transparent) background.
There was a warning dialog about transparency pop up the first time I used PGD 9 to export the PNG, but I can't remember exactly what it said - something about transparency not supported for this type of file I think. I chose to ignore always and I can't find anywhere I can re-enable that option to see if it fixes things.
Import a photo image which is, for example, 100px high by 500px long. Now apply a simple fade transparency from the left edge to 100% transparent 100px in from the left edge (i.e. 400px of the image's length is now 'invisible').
Export this as a png and then import this png. It will still be 100 x 500 - can you tell Xara export the image truncated down just the 'visible' portion (i.e. 100 x 100)?
How to make a Contour object transparent? In below example is set a 1 step contour on the star, setting transparency the yellow is transparent but the grey not.

I am aware that the star could be turned to editable shape, after clone and subtract so the transparency could be controlled on both shapes, but is there maybe some other way?
Also could be a way of course to set outline for the star and not contour, but I do not like as in that case the line half inside and half outside of the shape.
Reading the Help document it says that transparency in a document is rendered as a bitmap when printing because PostScript can't handle it. This is also the case when exporting to certain file formats.
Isn't there a better solution to this? There are some truly magnificent tools in Xara and I'm sure this means that the technology is there to render documents in a suitable form when printing and exporting.
I've just tried to get a simple logo using some flat transparency from Xara into a Microsoft product and the transparent parts have given me big headaches as I want a true vector solution. The only way I found to work was going via Adobe Illustrator. If Illustrator can do it then why can't Xara? Isn't there some way that Xara can analyse the parts with transparency and create new vector objects where possible?
How does everyone else handle this - do you all simply ignore the transparency tool and work without it?
Current problem is that I've created certain colors for an art piece - basically, it's different poses of a character. I'm outlining each pose on a separate Xara page. So I've inked in the first pose, and, in so doing, created a couple of new colors, which I've named.
Those new colors do not show up in the color palette when I open a new page to ink in another character pose - the palette just defaults to its basic lineup. Is there a way to create a new color and keep that color in the palette for any and all art pieces?
I want to detect percentages of my artist's oil colors in any area of a vectorized photo that I point to.
So, I want to first vectorize a photo to reduce it to manageable separate color areas. Then, I want to be able to get a list of the various percentages of 108 different colors that make up any of the vector color shapes I point to or select. These 108 different colors are somewhat accurate small bitmap swatches that correspond to 108 artist's oil paint colors.
Alternatively, can I just somehow plug in this 108 swatch palette and have a software (Xara?) break down a bitmap into areas of vector color using only this custom palette?
Is this possible in Xara, or by any other means you know of?
When I apply simple flat transparency to a line, or a shape with an outline, it becomes translucent - as expected.
But when I apply a linear (or circular / elliptical / conical etc) transparency, only the fill is affected, and the line remains opaque

I think this is related to Xara's inability to export alpha transparency properly. I've talked about this before, somewhere. Feel free to find the old post.
The thing is, without a decent export the feature is largely useless isn't it? .Xar is almost never the destination format.
I can get round the edges issue by printing to PDF instead of exporting, but then the bounds of the original bitmaps are visible. So neither solution is any good at all. Surely this is a massive problem?
Designer Pro 6: I've made round cornered pix for a catalog. I export as a PNG and the corners show black in the Web app I'm using, but they are transparent so it's OK. The last set of pix were done in Xara Xtreme 5, when I exported those as PNGs the corners were white, and the transparency was OK. My question is why the white or black corners, and is there something I can do that will control that? I used the same approach in Designer as in Xtreme 5.

I was trying to learn about naming colors. I named a color, only to find it was now in my default color palette, which was now 'Untitled1'. I did not want to have the default palette that opens on the Color Line when I open the program changed and requiring me to rename it every time I named a color. I tried to undo my actions but had only partial success. The new named color is gone, but the color palette is still 'Untitled1', and how to restore the palette name. How can I correct this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is probably super simple. I do a lot of transparency stuff for the Web. My background color for the most part turns out to be black. I get my transparency but the program I'm using at the moment does a cleaner job with white. When it's black I see a little trash of black around the edge of the graphic. In the past I've come up with white quite by accident and it was clean as a whistle. I'm exporting as PNG, True Color + Alpha.

I cloned the original photo, applied a Circular, Stained Glass transparency to the clone, moved the center of the transparency over the Datura blossoms, reduced the diameter, and reversed the settings.
In a few seconds I dramatically changed the photo.
I cloned the second photo of dramatic smoke from the recent wildfire, applied a vertical Linear, Stained Glass transparency to the clone, starting at the dark portion of the bottom of the cloud at 0% and ending just above the mountain tops at 100%.
Again, in less than the time it would take to open Photoshop, I had dramatically enhanced an already dramatic photo.
I used Graphics & Photos 2013, I update the software yesterday and if I save my job as PDF, the transparency done on a picture is inverted.Currently I removed the transparency but it is not the solution.Issue appear only when I create a PDF file. By creating a JPG file it works.

In another editor I can use them as "masks" for photos - in second attach (capture.png) you can see on left - usual photo, on right - photo with mask as photo frame. How I can make same effect in Xara Xtreme? I try to use different modes, substract/add shapes and other - but no luck.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having problems trying to produce an image with reflections. I have been doing it in the past with Xara4. My procedure is to take a number of images, create copies of them, flip them then add transparency once they are in place as refelctions. These are all placed onto a dark background; reflections are stretching beyond the background at this stage. And in the past if I select all, then Arrange>Combine Shapes>Intersect Shapes then I can have the whole image without the transparent regions of the reflections. My plan is to have the background transparent and save all as a png to preserve the transparency on web. But it doesn't seem to happen in my latest attempts. Instead at the Intersect Shapes stage I get a tiny part of the background as my final image....
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using Photoshop 6, ancient.One job I use it for is to edit .png files that were created in X-Plane's (flight simulator) "Plane Maker" tool. When I open the .png file in Photoshop, the colors invariably look faded when compared with the original. If I edit the file and save it, I end up with colors that are not anything like the original.
Below are examples. Notice the first, a screen grab from Plane Maker, has deeper colors than the second, a screen grab from Photoshop.Are there any settings that can be made in Photoshop to avoid this color shift? If not, I suppose I will just have to fiddle with the contrast and brightness settings.
My project seems to have gotten out of sync. Is it possible to shift an entire single track, such as the titles or music, to the right so that it's in synch with all the other tracks above/below it?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using 2013 with all the latest updates. This is what we're seeing, on exporting drawings to dwg, nearly all title block text is shifted from it's constrained position.
Case in point. There are like 10 lines for customer information. One line will look like the following:
JOBSITE: MIAMI, FL
In that example, JOBSITE is a single text object with bottom left justification. MIAMI, FL is a single text object as well that is a linked custom field with bottom left justification.
Both of these are constrained to construction lines in the title block. I've locked the text's insertion point to the intersection of lines, and to a point. In inventor, it works great. In editing the title block these things do not budge at all. They're locked up tight.
Problem is when exporting to autocad, the JOBSITE text will shift down and the MIAMI, FL text will shift up.
I thought maybe the constraints were off, but not that I can see. I removed all constraints and floated them and the same thing happened. Seems to happen no matter what we do. I turned the construction lines visible to see if they had issues and they hold their place fine. The text still shifts. The only text that seems to hold its spot are the pieces of text that are top middle justified.
There is ONE WAY to get the text to hold it's place. Export the file to a 2013 Inventor DWG file. That holds the text in the correct place. However, we need these files in normal 2010 format for a client. Saving these from autocad 2013 to 2010 works fine. However, it's more than 2x the work.
I've seen a couple old posts talking about multiple text types/sizes in one object but this isn't the case, every bit of text in the title block is a separate entity and a singular height and style.
And on a related issue, it's be nice if Inventor knew that things like commas and slashes and whatnot are permitted to go below the bottom justification lines and not force all the text up but that's a separate issue.
I am currently using AutoCAD 2011 but there is a couple in our office using 2012. When they open a drawing with attributed text it shifts the text, usually to the right. The text height stays the same as well as the vertical position. It appears the text letter spacing (kerning I think it is called) is adjusted to be closer and it shifts to the right. If I click on the text and then click on the grip for the text twice it puts it back to what it is suppose to be or was. This doesn't happen in any logical order it is random through out the drawings, making it harder to find and fix them all. I can save the file close it, re-open it and the text shift happens again, randomly.
We have only noticed this on drawings that have been opened with 2012. Is that a problem with 2012? Is there a fix for it? I found while GTS that someone clicked on the annotate>annotation scaling>sync scale positions so I tried that and it didn't adjust the text/attributes back to where they are suppose to be/where. The shift happens as stated while re-opening a drawing, also when doing a regen, I also noticed it happening while doing a simple copy/paste of a part that isn't shifting. I hope this makes sense as to what is happening, I would post a drawing but they REALLY frown on us "sharing" our drawings.

I have managed to assign a hotkey for 3D view, but I can't figure out how to assign a hotkey for returning to the view I was in before the 3D view. I know that you can double click the level you want to go to, but I want to use the mouse as little as possible.

Everything remains lined up in model space, it is just paper space where I have the issues.
This is only an issue when I use the dview command and have twisted my drawings.
