Xara :: Export Vector Graphics To DXF Or DWG Format?

View 2 RepliesI have been using Xara Designer Pro 7 for almost a month now and love it so far, but I cannot seem to export graphics in the PSD format. I never had this problem with Xara DP 6. When I go to export, I have tried it both ways, as "Selected Images" and "Entire Page" and all I get is a blank image.
I would really like the PSD export to work because I design web pages in Xara and then bring them into Photoshop Elements 9 or Photoshop CS5 or Fireworks CS5 to slice them up for html pages. This worked great in Xara Designer Pro 6.
I know this probably an issue for Xara support, but I figured I would ask here first because I might get a quicker response. Maybe I can doing something wrong? Do I need to do something with layers?
I have an MS Word 2011 document with an Excel pie chart embedded.Double-clicking the pie chart will open it in Excel 2011.Copying/pasting the chart into Illustrator CS6 results in an uneditable bit image.
Previously, with Word 2008 and Illustrator CS2, this worked perfectly. Mind you, I had tons of excess empty paths and such to scrape out, but still, after a couple of minutes' scraping, I had an editable .ai file ready to be cleaned up, captions typeset, and colors edited for export to .eps and placement in InDesign
In fact, right now I've had to jump over to my old iBook G4 to open my old copies of Word 2008 and Illustrator CS2 in order to do this so I can get this job out the door.Is there any way at all that I can get an Excel 2011 pie chart into Illustrator CS6 as a vector image?
I've tried the shift-click on "Copy Picture" method, but the pie chart still appears as a bit image, and the text is turned to gibberish. Saving the chart as a pdf returns the same results.
At this point in the project, asking for the raw data set and regenerating the pies in Illustrator isn't an option -- and besides, I've had to do that before. Oh, the pain.
I am trialing the DG&P of xara. I am creating embroidery files in another software. I need to import in .emf. Most of my clipart, etc that I use is jpeg or png. I am wanting to take those into a program, create the vector file, and import to the embroidery software so that I can manipulate/simplify how I need to to create the stitch out. So, when I am in xara and I bring the image in, I select all and choose export in the .emf format....I figured that out. But, when I bring it into the other software I have a blank page. So, I figure I am missing something. Is there a quick way to convert the outline I bring in (in png) to vectors so that it can export and be manipulated in the other software in .emf? or do I trace the file in xara as I would in the other software, have a rough sketch, and then export? Where is the best info on what to do? I am pretty good at following tutorials and lessons but before I buy I just want to make sure it does what I am wanting it to do.

Now, my LOGO is already black and white, do I have to select somewhere GrayScale to export with that optsion selected or I just export to JPG regular way since LOGO is already BW?
I have a file that needs to be in vector format, however all of the white colors need to be transparent. The problem is that you cannot simply "erase" colors in vector fonts and the like, and there is not "transparent fill" option to my knowledge. Need I create some sort of adjustment layer and paint the transparent portions in?
Am I missing something incredibly simple here? I'm sure that I am.
Is there any way to convert graphics to vector (.xar)?
For example I would like to convert this picture to vector so that it does not loose quality when I export to PDF for printing in high DPI.

I want to get some designs I've done printed, the design are pretty simple block colors and shapes, Xara Xtreme 5 is brilliant for doing these designs. However the T-Shirt printers (spreadshirt) want to files a vectors graphics. This is what they say on the site
Transforming objects into curves
Transform all design elements and text into curves.
This is possible with Corel Draw: highlight the part of the design you want to convert. Click on 'set up' - 'transform into curves'.; You may run into a few problems when converting complex pixel graphics into curves. Try to convert as few individual objects and colors as possible. Note: vector graphics for plot printing can have up to three colors per design.
Check the minimum size of the object
After you've converted to curves, you'll have to check every element of the design to make sure that it has a minimum size of 1.5 mm. One trick for checking this: create a small circle with a diameter of 1.5 mm and lay it over the smallest parts of the design. If the area is smaller than the circle, it's too small for plot printing.
Save image as vector graphic
Unfortunately, you cannot just open a pixel graphic into a vector program and save it in a vector format (.eps.) This is not enough. You have to manually make sure the pixel graphic has been converted into curves.
Can I just export as an .eps and it'll work, or do I need to convert to editable shapes then export?
Xara Designer Pro has an impressive-looking import format list, but I'm suprised to see that it can't import .svg files.
The reason I would like to open an .svg file is that there is an awesome new resource being built up of symbols called the noun library. [URL] All the files are in .svg format (which I'd imagine was intentional to ensure that lots of folks can open them. Check it out - they're trying to raise $ on kickstarter to enable the growth of the library.
Ive got a image(Fill K-100) in a vector format that i'm wanting to have a faded contour inside from White(C-0 M-0 Y-0 K-0) to Red(M-100)
I can get it to have a single color fade but not from white center to red "glow" around the white.
I get a raster image to convert to vector format. Here's a part of this image:
I tried tracing but the image resolution is low and I didn't get acceptable results.
I've also tried tracing the edge with line segments and Bezier curves. But when the lines close a polygon the resulting polygon is not what I expect.
What tools to use to convert it to vectors? I use CorelDraw X3 and PS 5.
i have been trying for the past hour to export these two files as pdfs for large format print. everything exports fine except the gold trophy design, how to export these for use for large format solvent printing, i normally dont have a problem but this golden shield vector appears to be the problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecurring problem i'm having with bitmaps im trying to export to our large format printer. Some bitmaps are coming up with a grey type filter or lens that corel is automatically putting over my photo.
When i export this' filter' remains on the picture.
If i hit 'edit bitmap' the photo comes up normal with all the colours as it should be. Hit 'save' and it goes straight back to having a grey filter over it? Its only with some photos and the other ones are the same profile on the same page? It seems to be always the physically largest one in size (not dpi) I have tried converting to a cmyk bitmap instead of RGB.
When I try to export a bitmap to PSD format or import a PSD file, the filter list does not show any import or export for Photoshop...what gives?

I have Xara Graphics and Photo Designer 6. I've mainly used it for web graphics but now I am doing some print work with it.
I want to set up the page so that it is 300 dpi. Then design the graphic and then export it.
However I am confused on how to do this.
It appears the way Xara is set up you design the graphic and then during export you tell it how many DPI you want it.
The problem is if I select 300 dpi during export, the resulting export is much too big.
I am sure I am doing something wrong. It seems to me there must be a way to set up the page before creating the graphic to 300 dpi (or whatever dpi you plan to export it in... right?)
I'm using P&G 2013 to generate SVG floorplans for some data visualization on one of our servers, and I've used the product in the past with no issues at all.
However, I have a file that I cannot export to SVG. I have narrowed down the issue to one layer, which is composed entirely of about 1600 simple rectangles with dashed lines. I have also tried using a standard solid line for the shapes, with no luck.
When the export process starts, the program becomes unresponsive, and the status dialog shows it very slowly prepairing to export. When it switches to exporting the document, the counter never moves past 0%.
After an hour or two of not showing any progress, windows auto forces the program to close. Before the program is killed, task manager shows P&G using 100% of one core, and the memory usage increases up until the auto kill.
To try to determine if it was some layer properties causing the issue, I moved a small subset (maybe 15 - 20%) of the rectangles to a new .xar file and tried to export, with the same behavior.
I am having trouble doing this in my current software, Serif Drawplus, PSE, Photoplus, (I have Gimp but haven't used it ever yet). And I am considering buying X6 for use in other projects. So, can x6 do this in either Photo Paint with a bitmap, or in X6 with a group of Vectors?
I want to wrap a bottle with a logo. The mesh warps aren't working for me in the above applications, and envelope warping will not work either. Transform-Warp is not present in PSE. I mention that because I see a tutorial for PS using that. How would Corel X6 Suite do this? I am considering buying the software once some questions I have about it are cleared up. I wish Corel would make the manual and tutorial videos public. I'd rather download the trial for actually using it rather than trying to see if some feature is present, or a workaround for a feature a competitor has.
I am also hoping to make in this project, some 10-20 different bottles with the logo on, of different sized bottles and different rotations of the bottles. Plan D is acquainting myself with Blender, but lets hope I don't have to go that far!
I have been asked to create a logo for a client of mine and I have been asked for it to be made in vectors format? I believe it has something to do with, if the picture needs to be stretched to a bigger size, it will not loose any quality.
Well this is what I am getting confused with, Photoshop already seems to stretch things fine, without loosing any image quality, I have not had a problem with that before?
I recently finished an illustration using both the drawing and pen tool in Illustrator. I have exported the file as a png and have been asked to convert it into a vector format.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI often create graphics in CorelDRAW export it and inserting it into my MS Word documents and finally convert my documents to pdf. When it is vector graphics, exporting as EPS works fine: The increase in file size is small and lines are displayed perfect independant of how much you zoom in the final pdf document. When I handle bitmaps, I usually export as JPG (or PNG), which works well too. My problem arise when I have a mixed vector and bitmap image. I have imported a bitmap into CorelDRAW and created some lines on top of it. I want to export it as a whole. If I export as EPS, the final result is fine, but filesize has increased considerable. If I choose to export as jpg, the filesize is fine, but the lines are getting slightly blurry. Is there a way to get the best of both Worlds - resonable filesize and perfect lines? Maybe settings in some dialog??

It is a general perspective principle that the farer objects are more blurred, but I am not sure how to draw that. As a first solution sure could be adding feather them, the most to the farest, but somehow does not like that. T

I have drawn a colorful graphic with lots of little pieces, colors. Didn't name colors in it or built it with tints/shades of other colors. I want to make it grayscale now. What is fastest/most practical way to do that? Histogram works on bitmaps but I would like to retain vector format.
