I like being able to turn fonts on and off instead of having everything on all the time. what is best solution?
In both PScs2 and Illy cs2 my font list also include other program fonts. My headache is how do I remove my chess program fonts (which appears as garbled chess notation and diagram squares).

View 10 Replies View RelatedI am creating posters in Photoshop CS3 to be printing at 16" x 20" / 360lpi. Therefore, I create and add layers to a base 360dpi image sized at 16" x 20". I am not able to add large text (font size approximately 256 points) across the image without experiencing severe antialiasing issues when viewed at 100% regardless how I set the AA value (smooth, sharp, crips, strong).
Is there any possible way to get around this issue without having to buy expensive vector based software to create my textual layers. I image it would be very difficult creating text in a vector appliction when it needs to match the shape, color and styling of my target project image in Photoshop.
I am using xara xtreme 4, i always used it to import large A1 size pdf files to resize them with xara on A4 page. I am trying to import now a 50 mb pdf file, after asking me if i need to optimize for editing i click import, it shows that it is converting the document then it asks me if i need to merge or insert to a new page i click merge and finally nothing shows on my sheet, still empty!
is there a better way to resize that pdf file?
how do you change the tool bar buttons to small buttons? The options are all greyed out! I am old but not that blind yet. This is a work stoppage, and abandon software problem for me.

I installed ACAD LT 2011 in my new HP Win7 computer, and the font in the Layer Properties Manager box is so large that it is unreadable. I have attached a file showing a 'print screen'. I need directions on how to put the text back to normal size. I had no problems with this program in my old Dell computer.
View 3 Replies View Relatedread that color management pdf by gennady petrov and tried a few things he wrote. I turned off color management in the printer driver, chose corel to manage color, and the image default profile sRGBxxxxx. picture was way dark and ugly. tried several other profiles and same dark picture. hmm that did not work so well.
went back to the printer driver and disabled no color management, and chose the profile Adobe RGB. still kept corel as manager and chose A RGB as the profile and the print looked spot on. Have not had problems printing from corel because I have come up with my own system, but was quite surprised at the result from turning off color management in the printer driver.
I am about to venture into creating a poster using a picture that I haven't gotten yet.
I'm wondering what I will need to do in order to get a reasonably non-pixelated poster when enlarging a picture from a smaller size.
Is the most important feature of the picture it's resolution? I know at times I've tried enlarging pictures and they are pretty pixelated after the process. I'm guessing that resolution is the key but I would love to hear from the experts that do this on a regular basis.
I know some of you have made building size signs, are these from pictures or are they from vector creations? How do you get these to be so clear when enlarging?
I have a client who asked me to create artwork for a banner she is printing for a trade show. The banner is 19.5 FEET long and almost 8 feet high. I have designed the banner as 6.5x2.6ft with the intent of then dividing it into 9 equal parts which I would blow up to 6.5x2.6 and send off to the printer. So far so good. The problem is that the segments are still so large that when I try to export them as PDFs, I am running out of memory. I tried doing them as jpegs, but when I change the resolution for export to 300dpi, nothing changes- the number of pixels x umber of pixels doesn't increase. My client needs this artwork off to her printer asap and I am at a complete loss.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been experimenting with large font sizes on a base image of 2000x3000 pixels. I've been using a basic white type face on a dark gray background and adjusting the lightness and contrast of the white color to different levels. Also, I created the type as as png first and then brought into Gimp. When the image is at full size, the type looks fine, but when I shrink the image down, say a quarter of the size, the edges of the fonts get very jagged and look like they're breaking up.

I was hoping fo a way to build a rule based on the collection set ... is this possible?
I also tried matching Any Searchable Text set to the collection set name, but that doesn't seem to work...wouldn't all photos in the collection set be associated with that string? Looks like no.
There used to be a way I thought that you could submit a new thread after doing a question search. That seems to be gone.
I have all 3 weights of the free font Lavanderia installed on my computer. However, when I go to use this font in Xara Photo & Graphic Designer, it only shows one of the weight (Lavanderia Delicate). I can't find the other 2 fonts in the list anywhere. why the program is not displaying all the fonts in this family? I really need to get a project done quickly that requires one of the weights not displaying.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working on a book cover for a client and was asked to modify a capital letter in the chosen font. The letter "S" had a curly q at the top that needed to be removed. I converted the letter to an editable shape and deleted the offending nodes. Along the way I had to break the points and then reconnect. When I broke the points, Xara split the shape into 2 layers for some reason so I could not rejoin the points later. I ended up combining the layers and was able to rejoin the nodes that way.
The problem I had was that when everything was reconnected, I could only color the outline, the shape would not fill. I ended up having to export as a PNG to Photoshop, created an adjustment layer and painted it in. Everything looks great BUT I would have preferred to just reconnect the nodes and fill the letter in Xara.
I've read about the fact that bold fonts (even web safe) may not always display as desired. Does the same apply for font size?
I'm using Arial and find that when I go to preview the font size drops slightly. I'm using Firefox. I realize I have to try it on the real web to be sure but would like a heads-up beforehand. Detail: when the first page loads it's pretty much correct but the next page changes the text and on returning to the first page it's now modified.
If I export text to PDF my font become BOLD and does not look like in Xara. I used Arial font. Is it possible to prevent Xara from embedding font when exporting to PDF? I deselected that option in export settings, however, it still does it.
(it does not do that only if I select first option when exporting to PDF called Draft Quality, however, in this mode pictures are in low resolution)
The fonts on the menu (File, Edit etc) are way too small in comparison with other programs on my desktop. Is there a way to enlarge them? Adjusting the screen resolution is not an option. I have noticed this with previous version of Xara that I have used. How to do this if it is not in the program settings?

Well the client has chosen one of the logos but the colors do not fit in as well with the sit layout as one would desire. The trouble is, I don't use PS. How to make the appropriate changes using Xara? I did try to highlight the text but I think it may all be part of an object with the razor. I wanted to convert the larger text to white and export everything from a dark background so it doesn't have the white jagged edge you would see from a white background.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to convert a collection to a smart collection?
I am using NextGEN to export images to WordPress. NextGEN created Publishing collections in Lightroom to match those in my WordPress blog. My problem is that they are not Smart Collections.
I have been using Xara for a very long time. I have recently started a side business generating signs and banners and continue to use Xara as my primary graphics editor, but I've discovered a tiny issue and I'm hoping there is some way around it. The Font Size live preview slider is limited (for some reason?) to sizes less than 32pt, and the font drop down list starts getting coarse after 24pt and tops out at 72pt sizes. Since most of what I'm doing involves text sizes larger than 72pt and much larger than the 32pt the slider allows, both of those options for adjusting font size have lost their usefulness.
Is there any way for me to adjust the values for the slider and/or for the drop down list to allow larger numbers? I realize I could use a scaling factor and layout my signs as a fraction of their intended size, but then I have hope to remember to change the scale when I import it into my sign cutting software or run the risk of wasting vinyl, so that would be my last choice.
Surely I can't be the only person who uses large text?
Also, any issues with exporting text into EPS and getting a change in the case of the text? If I export "This is Text" as an EPS file, when I import it into my sign cutting software, I sometimes get "tHIS IS tEXT", but if I import the same EPS into Xara it looks normal. Not sure if that is Xara or the sign cutting software (LXi Express Expert edition)... Until I figure that one out, I make sure to convert text to editable shapes before exporting it...
I have put together this mini tutorial for doing a letterpress effect, and what's really nice is that the text stays as editable text and this effect is editable! You can change the text and/or the font without losing the effect as long as you don't overflow the text box.
I have attached a png large enough for viewing on screen (just click the thumbnail then click the pop up) and a .xar file with the instructions and examples you can pull apart.
You should be able to do this in Designer Pro or Photo & Graphic Designer from version 6 and up.
