View 6 RepliesI've been wondering how do you get the rectangle select tool to move the image, like in mspaint whenever I use it, it just moves the rectangle square and not the selected part of the image.
View 2 Replies View Relatedthere's nothing in that dropdown menu for you to select your source image/layer in the Move Path plugin.I am using an XCF (Gimp) file, with many layers. I selected a particular layer, then I opened the Move Path plugin.

View 5 Replies View RelatedA while back I took a Photoshop class and remember a lesson on where you could select a region of an image and save it for the web with a high quality and select another region of the same image and save it for the web with a low quality, so that the focal point was saved with a high quality and the background was saved with a low quality. I have no idea where my notes are from this class and can not remember at all how to do this. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial about this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to select a specific color from within the image, and change all similar colors within that image to a different color. In other words, after using the Color Picker Tool to select a color from the image, I want to take the selected color (and everything in the image that is equal to or similar in color), and change them all to a different color.
I tried using the Path's Tool to create an outline in the image, and changing colors that way, but it changes all the other colors in the selection I don't want to change. I just want to change all colors in the image/selection that are equal to or similar to the selected color. How do I do this?
I know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
In the example below, I would like to select the three dimensions 14'-1 3/8's, 2', 28' and be able to move them all up or down at the same time...how do I do that?

I opened the image I want to work on and the top of it is behind the top of the photoshop icon... if I click on the image, the top of the image (needed to move it down) disappears, if I click on the desktop, the image is there without photoshop. I can't move the image down to work on it, what do I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get an image from a 3d program, saved as png to take into xara, the background is white, so I assumed once i take it into xara, that because it was saved as png that the white portion would be invisible.
It did not work, any other method for achieving the same result?
I have a jpg image that has a table of contents on it. I want to slice it horizontally by each topic (8 topics) so I can export the eight new images. Eventually I will be inserting the images into Word, and will hyperlink each topic slice to a page in the document. The Word document will then be converted to an eBook. So far I've only been able to slice the image by overlaying a rectangle on the TOC image and using; Combine shapes/subtract command or crop the original image 8 times. There must be a simpler way. Ideally I'd like to just cut the one image with 7 horizontal slices, so I can easily piece it back together in Word. I looked at the image slicing function but couldn't figure out how to have multiple names on one image. I have GD 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI want to add/manipulate a .gif image which is a 'loading' symbol to my website. I added it without any problem and it works fine. The thing I want and perhaps everyone wants that the 'loading' image should stop and then prompted to the website. Although it seems lame but it gives the website a cool effect and everyone thinks that its 'semi-flash'. So now I want it to stop after 2-3 seconds and then prompted to the rest of the website. Can I do it in Xara Web Designer 7 Premium ?
See the attachment.
I am having issues moving and resizing a image once it has been "placed" onto the document. It seems to be locked and even when I agree to place the image, I can still not move or resize it. This happens on all file types and CS6.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThere seems to be a bug in both Windows and Mac versions of Photoshop CS6. The problem manifests itself MUCH clearer on a Windows machine, but is present to some degree on a Mac, too. The last version without it seems to be CS3 (OpenSth problem?).
Steps to reproduce: Any image open, full screen mode, all pannels UNDOCKED: Correct behoviour: The image should not move while pressing Tab (ideally it shouldn't even redraw).
On Windows:
With every press of a Tab key to show/hide the panels the image jumps up several pixels (sometimes also towards the center of the screen if the image is smaller than the screen area). Also (and MUCH more annoyingly) when the image is moved off center and is at certain magnification (the most reproducible seems to be 33%) after pressing Tab it jumps ALL THE WAY to the center of the screen.
On Mac:
Similar things happen, but more rarely, and the image jumps by only ~1 pixel. (Easier to observe if you first zoom the image smoothly a bit by dragging with a zoom tool).
Also as it currently is (after CS3?) pressing F produces the same outcome as pressing Shift+F - there is no way of just showing the menu in Fullscreen mode and then quickly hiding it after use - one have to go through the whole screen mode cycle. Also on Windows there is no way to access the menu when hidden with Alt + Letter speedkey (Alt + F for file menu etc.). Both these functions worked perfectly well in CS3.
Both machines have latest Photoshop, OS updates and drivers (but old graphics cards: Win - Nvidia 9800GT, Mac Nvidia 880GT). I suspect these changes for the worse has been introduced while switching to OpenGL. Hopefully it is not necessary for it to be that way or maybe even it works as expected on newer graphics hardware.
Last time similar problems occured was, if I remember correctly, in Photoshop 7 when Status Bar has been moved into an image window :-) I know it may sound as if it's not important, but it certainly is annoying. It has nothing to do with not embracing change - I do find OpenWhatever to be a huge leap for Photoshop - even if I have to put up with a slower image redraw most of the time..
I need to move a portion of a jpeg image (a logo) a little bit to one side, then I will fill in the empty space. Do I need to save it as a .psd first? And which tool do I use?
I was trying to use one tool, not sure which one, and it told me the layer was locked. I couldn't figure out how to unlock the layer.
I'm trying to create an animated image, but when I choose the option "jump to Image Ready", I get the following message: Could not fully start the application because a program error has occurred. However, the last time I tried to move to Image Ready (I haven't done so often; I don't use either Photoshop or IR very often),

View 7 Replies View RelatedFirst issue (see screen shot 1): As an example I created a simple b&w text image, which I subsequently saved to file as a GIF. At a later time I decide to open the saved file in order to edit the image. In editing all I want to do is remove the 2 dots over the letter "i" and re-save the image. Screen shot 1 shows the image unlocked on the page after re-opening the file. I cannot figure out how to edit the image at this point in order to remove the dots over the "i. I know I am overlooking a simple step, but I've tried everything. What is the secret to going back and cutting out just part of an image after the image has already been created.
Second issue (see screen shot 2): After many, many, many attempts I am still unable to create a simple GIF image with a totally transparent background so I can use the image on colored backgrounds. Using the same image example as above, I first went to Arrange>Create Bitmap Copy. That brings up the "Create bitmap options" window. For color depth I choose True color+Alpha. Then I hit the create button. The image I just created is selected on the page, and I then click the Export button to save it. After naming the file and clicking the Export button, I am taken to the GIF Export Bitmap Options window. At this point I have tried both transparency options. If I choose the option to make the background transparent, I end up with an image surrounded by white artifacts when the image is placed over a colored background (as shown in the top of screen shot 2). If I start over and choose instead to make a color transparent (in this case I chose to make white transparent since the image was created with a white background), I end up with the image surrounded by a block of white (the lower image in screen shot 2). What is the proper way to make transparent GIFs?
I have managed to create a hyperlink from an image, to another page on my site. For some reason I am not able to create a link for some other images and I do not know why. (Designer Pro 6). I have used the same settings via link but as said this does not work? Do images have to be a certian format for hyperlinks to work?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI decided to export my vector file to .ai format, because my printer company has so much trouble creating a good image from the PNG images I sent them. URL....
But, anyway, to the point: When I attempted to import the file back into Xara to see how it looked, it gave me the message Internal program error 2000.k.no.tl. The next message it gave me was that image contains fonts not recognized (paraphrasing), but the text is on a hidden layer. Then the next message was "spurious internal error has occurred." The file did not import.
I've only been working on this project since February, and have spent hundreds of hours fine-tuning this custom playing card project. I was hoping that by exporting to .ai that the printer would have a file that was ready to just place into his template and maybe, just maybe, the image would render properly without the banding issue. However, if I can't look at the .ai file with the same program that exported it, how can I tell what I'd be sending? Is it necessary to use the Illustrator program to look at files that Xara exports as .ai?
I feel like Sisyphus must have felt. This project boulder just keeps rolling back downhill.
Attached is the original .xar file, but of course I can't attach the .ai file because it's 1888kb. How to export it to .ai and if the image looks good (no staggered rectangles). Then I can export all my images as .ai and send to the printer.
I am trying multiple erases on the same image. I have removed what I want but now cannot get rid of the surrounding dotted lines. In fact the image has a number of them. If I click outside the screen outside the image they disappear but as soon as I start again they all appear. How do I get them to disappear so i can move on to do something else with the picture?

Is there any way to set photo settings to a shape, have the shape apply as a filter when over an image.
Ie make a rectangle shape, set it to 50% transparent, and focus -50 contrast +50 brightness +20 then have these effects the photo below
I know I can do this with cloning the image and then create an interesting shape - but this is then fixed to that location over the image -
I want to be able to set these properties to the shape, and then move anywhere over the image
(basically like a piece of frosted glass, placed over a photo. - the glass effects what you see of the photo not just colour but also focus..., but you can move it around)
Suddenly I'm having problems with the Arrange/combine/slice feature.
When I attempt to slice off a piece of an image, another straight cut occurs somewhere else on the image.
On the attached sample, I drew a wavy line like the one shown across the right arm of girl in the image and along with the expected slice was the vertical slice through the image. I backed up and started again, and the exact same vertical slice occurred.
This happens frequently, the unwanted slice is always straight , but sometimes horizontal, and sometimes angled. I'm using Wacom Cintiq tablet.
I'm having the same problem with my trial 7 version. I've been 'slicing' since Xara was a puppy.
