View 9 RepliesUsing photoshop a bit and have something I want to create but not sure how to.
I want to have a shadow effect hole in a white page and then put a button within the whole. To make it look like a webpage has a hole in it, that then has a button in it. i can draw a sketch
I am trying to create a network infrastructure diagram for where Iwork with Diagram.
For this I am putting into the diagram, images of: servers, switches, racks and so on. What I wish for those images is to have transparent background. So far, I've been able to find decent resolution imageswhich it's because I've started with the latest hardware. Here's an example, let's say for our Dell PowerEdge 6850 servers if found this: [URL] ....
which by fuzzy selecting the white background, with a threshold of15.0 and some selection subtractions I've been able to turn to: [URL] .... which is nice for what I wish to use it for.
Now, I've been able to handle some easy likewise situations but nowI've reached the vintage hardware and got bad results. Let me show an example image: [URL] .....
This is more difficult to make it look as I wish since it's resolution it's not decent and it also has a shadow effect which hardens a precise initial selection which can then be worked out to a better result.
After some efforts I either end up with a pixelized image or with a severely chopped image.
So, my question is how could I achieve the desired result for this and such images?
i got Inventor recently, and i've been working on a model of a longboard just to teach myself how to use the tools in Inventor. right now i'm trying to color areas for the griptape pattern so i drew the 2D pattern and projected it onto the 3D model of the longboard. but when i tried to split the faces of the model along the projected pattern only a few of the projected lines split the faces. for other faces i kept getting these errors:
Create parting line failed Crane.ipt: Errors occurred during update Split11: Could not build this Split The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs.
How to Lighten areas?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI haven't used PDF Underlays very much as we're always given CAD backgrounds. In this case, I used them to quickly put in since we won't get CAD files. However, they are scanned PDF's so they are essentially raster images. They have jagged lines, etc.
Is there a way to just lighten these when plotting so I can still use them as my background? or should I just bite the bullet and trace them to get actual ACAD lines to be able to control in plotting?
I took a portrait type of picture with a flash. The people are ok, the background is to dark. How can I lighten the background.
In the past when I took pictures for our awards, I used the blur method because I didn't lie the busy background. The background style on these pictures are ok. I just have a picture that I want to lighten the background.
I would like to lighten, brighten and color up this pic, since it's rather dull now. How can I do this?

I want to isolate the exact shape of the island so ONLY the island can be lightened a bit. Is there a nice video tutorial showing what that process is? tried some things in photoshop like the lasso tool but I could not get the island shape traced exactly enough. something similar in Photo paint?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to know the best way to lighten part of a picture without it being two-toned. An example of this is when I took a picture of someone inside a house.
The orange dress is vivid, and the white wall and door came out good also. The problem is that the lighting wasn't good enough to bring out the true skin tone of the person. So much so that the person's face could hardly be seen, and her neck and hands came out the same as her face also.
I tried to lighten her face by using the Ellipse in Tools>Adjustment>Brightness/Contrast making sure not to go outside the perimeter of the face. I then zoomed to 1600X and manually changed the rest of it a few pixels at a time by switching to the Rectangle in Tools . The result after more than an hour later was something that looked akin to pasting an egg in place of her face on the picture. It was grainy and looked ridiculous.
I don't want to lighten the whole picture because it ruins the true color of the dress, and not as important, the door and walls don't look as sharp and vivid either.
P.S. I would also like to know how to do the reverse; darken a specific area without the two-toned look.
i would like to lighten the front portion of a seashell. how would i do this/ what selection tool etc. Attached is a photo of a seashell floating on some clouds.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI switched to MAX 2012 recently and it's hard for me to texture my models because of selected faces being highlighted red while using modifier like UVW Xform, UVW Map and Unwrap UVW.
On older MAX release when you selected desired polygons to apply UVW Map for example, faces stoped being red, now it's not and I can't see how my texture is applied on my model because of that.
I have made a cube, and given a basic cube UV map. The material I want is a standard 2D map (say noise). The problem is that each face gets the same pattern of noise. I would have the same result if I had a basic bitmap as the material.
My solution has been to make a Multi-Sub material, and then use a different noise seed for each side of the cube. This works fine, but it makes it time consuming to do something like change the color of the cube (as I would have to edit 5/6 materials).
So, I am asking, is there a way to either make the UV behave as if each face was part of the same "thing" (spread one noise map over the image/stretch the bitmap). Perhaps make an object use multiple materials (or something like that), so that I can have a Multi-Sub for a greyscale noise, and then a basic color that I can change to effect all of the sides at once.
I have edged faces off in my model but as soon as i select something it shows that selections edged faces, how do i turn this off any?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to compare two faces to see if they are the same face. I have three faces and a hole feature on one of the three faces. I am trying to determine what face the hole is on(top, right, left). I can get the face the hole feature was created on as:
Set oHoleFace = oHoleFeature.PlacementDefinition.Parent.Sketch.PlanarEntity
I can get the three face objects I need to check for the hole on.
Set oTopFace = oExtrudeFeatures.Item(1).Faces.Item(13)
Set oRightFace = oExtrudeFeatures.Item(1).Faces.Item(3)
Set oLeftFace = oExtrudeFeatures.Item(1).Faces.Item(12)
Can I compare faces or do I need to use vectors? I tried comparing the InternalName of the faces but this seems to fail when there is more than 1 hole center within a hole feature.
