I just ran into a problem, using Videostudio X5 Ultimate. When i try to import a .PNG-image with a transparent background, but then the background of the imported image turns black.
However, when i open the same image in an image-viewer, the background actually is transparent.
This is probably super simple. I do a lot of transparency stuff for the Web. My background color for the most part turns out to be black. I get my transparency but the program I'm using at the moment does a cleaner job with white. When it's black I see a little trash of black around the edge of the graphic. In the past I've come up with white quite by accident and it was clean as a whistle. I'm exporting as PNG, True Color + Alpha.

View 1 Replies View Relatedall transparent png files copied from Chrome and pasted into Photoshop CS6. The background is black rather than transparent. These images are one I created and exported using "save for web". It worked fine in CS5 so it must be a bug.
I constantly have to edit images taken from our website so being able to copy an image quickly with transparency intact is very important. I'm running CS6 in Windows.
I'm currently deployed in a computer came in the mail broken so I'm unable to do this. How to take away the black background to make it white or transparent.

The image displays in comparison window as transparent but when I save this image and upload it on my website, the background changes to black instead of transparent.
I am using windows 7 Premium (64 bit) and Corel Draw X5.

I'm probably bumbling around and buggering up the export of png formatted images, but it appears something besides transparency is getting exported as backbround.
I do `Select all' then export to png.The poorly drawn green arrows were added in photoshop to show the area I'm talking about. The xara document which is apparently also getting exported in some way.At least certain other tools see a black background in that area. Not all tools have that problem with the image. For example; photoshop sees only transparency there.
But when I browse the exported *.png files with `Epson print CD', it sees black in that area as illustrated by the screen grab below.The first two images look clean as expected (I'll explain in a moment) but the third (the one that hasn't been cleaned in Photoshop) shows the black background in that area.
The first two were cleaned up in photoshop and now appear clean as expected.So to get a usable image for import into Epson's tool I must:
1) Export as PNG from Xara
2) Open with Photoshop and run thru a procedure where anything outside the outer blue ring in the image is deleted.(Even though PS only sees transparency, if I select everything from the blue ring outward and delete it, saving back to png, then Epson's tool sees transparency there)
3) Import into `Epson Print CD' and print the graphic to a printable DVD.
How can I skip the second step? That is, how can I get a clean export in step one? What is it that some tools are seeing as black background?
Photoshop is acting wonky now that i've installed windows 8. i had to upgrade my video drivers, amd radeon 5700 series. now when editing photos, the background goes black or transparent.

I am trying to save my pictures to picasa and photoshop so they are backed up and I can easily access them from any computer. I noticed that some of the pics are showing up all black. It's like the colors are inverted almost. I can kinda see the image in white, but mostly the whole thing is black. I noticed the same thing happened when I tried to open some of the images in paint.
I checked to see if they are all the same file type and they are not. Some are gif and some are png.
Also, some of my images won't open in windows photo gallery. They open in a blank web page. I originally go to my pictures and find them there, but when I click on them they open a page in IE instead of windows photo gallery so I can't crop them or anything.
I am trying to work on a project where I print silhouettes or simple images on vintage sheet music to use as art. I need to be able to take them to a print shop to have this done and I can't do that if the images show up black or won't open in a regular program.
I am attaching a pic that saved black like I talked about and a pic of what it is supposed to look like.

When I add pre-keyed clips (MOV files PNG coded) with alpha-channel (straight) in an VideoStudio X5 overlay track - the transparent parts show up black.
To make them transparent, I have to key-out the black with chroma key. I don't get this.
All of my transparent parts show up black, both in the video preview window as in the thumbnails of my video folder window.
Is there a setting I should apply to have the transparent parts show up transparent - as they should?
I am new to Gimp and would like to ask if there is a way to make a good worn out effect more or less like this on a black logo. The problem is that they are using a fork for it and I am a student and can't afford a fork.
The aim is to make a black print on transparent background with transparent scratched "holes". Are there any tips how to do this?
I think it might be the GPU but i used apple computers with intel hd 4000 and it didnt do that. I have amd hd 7750 with an i5 and 4gb ram. Photoshop doesnt run slow its just the picture going in and out.

In a slideshow, I would like to show them standing giving their vows at the alter and have various backgrounds replacing the alter. Example: They are standing at the alter. The alter fades into a forestscape then to a seascape and then a sunset. I have prepared the couple photo in PSP buy erasing all but the couple. The erased area is transparent but when I open this photo in Video Studio the transparent area has become a solid white. Is there a fix?

I am trying to add a new object to the decoration folder. I noticed they are all .png files, so I created a new png item with a transparent background ( with Gimp) and saved it in the same folder where all the other original ones are. It does come up in the list and I can add it to my video, but it changes the background to white, even though the original one has definitely a transparent background.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSee the attached mini screen grab. I've built a North America map showing Alaska and filled it with a gradient and saved it. When I re-open the file, Alaska has turned black as shown. When I rebuild the color, it re-opens as black again.
I've tried numerous workarounds, including pasting into a new document, making a new layer, and even deleting the rest of North America to eliminate the possibility of file size or memory limits. None of these workarounds has worked.
I think I accidentally changed a setting.
When I create a new transparent image the image goes straight to layer 1 instead of background. When I save or flatten the image it has a white background instead of a transparent like it should.
When I try to merge to HDR pro, the entire photo becomes black. It is still the same photo because when I increase the exposition I can almost make out the original photo. I tried to work on the exposition of the three photos, but that didn't work. I tried everything that I read on the Adobe Forum, but nothing is working. Up until about a month ago, it was working perfectly. I have photoshop cs6 with the latest upgrades and a Mac OS X Version 10.7.5 with 3.4 GHz and 32 GB ram.

every time I zoom OR when I will ad a Font the Picture goes to black, when I zoom in or out than a bit it changes to normal again.When I type then with a Font it changes black again until I zoom in or out a bit again.This is really annoying when I try to work cause it really takes time I don't have
Photoshop runs on the HD 3000 as far as I see (cause in the Options I only can choose this card uhm, the GeForce 540 activates first when the Graphpower from the HD3000 is to less in the Intel Drivers opinion).
Every time i try to use the type tool my canvas turns black as soon as i make a text box. It goes away if i click on a new layer but if i then try to edit the text it comes back, its makes it very diffifcult to make any form of text. I am on Windows 8,

When I export the file as an EPS for my client the colors are all turning black or shades of very dark black. I downloaded the ghostscript file but no luck. I have all the updates for Corel X6 as well.

I am editing some artwork in PS. I use quick keys to go between: b,e,g...(brush, erase, paintbucket). As I move through the image I zoom in and out with key strokes. I haven't figured out just what combination brings up a compass, but when it appears my canvas (not the image, but the whole canvas) kants to one side or another. If I see it in time I mess with it to get it back, but as I don't know what it is called I'm having a terrible time looking up how to control it and set it back to square. It seems like all the layers are okay within the image, so nothing is out of registration, but I don't know what is happening.
Any tool that is activated? Then I can figure out when to use it for real and how to undo it when I don't want it. I'm on a Mac Book Pro using Master Collection 6 and the touch pad. It seems like my finger motions might be triggering it. I have tried to step back, but it wasn't an option. Undo didn't do anything.
I recently downloaded Photoshop from the Cloud. When I try to use the text tool the whole canvas turns black. I can turn it back on by toggling the eye open and shut on the layer but when I try to write text again the screen turns black again and soon as I click the image.
