VideoStudio :: Using PSP Image With Transparent Background
Nov 11, 2010I have a still photo of friends getting married. In a slideshow, I would like to show them standing giving their vows at the alter and have various backgrounds replacing the alter. Example: They are standing at the alter. The alter fades into a forestscape then to a seascape and then a sunset. I have prepared the couple photo in PSP buy erasing all but the couple. The erased area is transparent but when I open this photo in Video Studio the transparent area has become a solid white. Is there a fix?

Dec 18, 2013I just ran into a problem, using Videostudio X5 Ultimate. When i try to import a .PNG-image with a transparent background, but then the background of the imported image turns black.
However, when i open the same image in an image-viewer, the background actually is transparent.

Aug 21, 2011I am trying to add a new object to the decoration folder. I noticed they are all .png files, so I created a new png item with a transparent background ( with Gimp) and saved it in the same folder where all the other original ones are. It does come up in the list and I can add it to my video, but it changes the background to white, even though the original one has definitely a transparent background.

what steps to take to be able to use my own icon with a transparent background? I saw on an earlier thread someone said use GIF Movie Gear, but that also did not work.

Aug 16, 2010Everytime I create an animation with a motion path or 3D navigation method, regardless of render settings and sky background turned on as well as final gather, the sky background always comes out black. Is this suppose to be this way? This is unacceptable for presentations of buildings.

VideoStudio :: Overlay Track - Jagged Edges In Animations With Green Screen?

I am trying to render some small animated clips to be used as overlays in home movies. I am animating in a program called Poser. I animate 30 to 60 second clips rendering them over a green background (0 blue, 0 red, 255 green) and output them in Uncompressed AVI at 1280x720. When I bring them into VS6 they look great on track 1 but when I put them onto an overlay track they suddenly 'go small'; I right click and change to 'Project Size' (which I have set to 16:9) and apply the Chroma Key; this is where I begin to get the Jagged Edge effect? Especially on anything with a straight edge - for example: I have a Skull and Crossed Swords that I want to spin 360 - the sword edges become so horribly jagged, it just is not acceptable.
However, still using Poser as my 3D rendering engine, I can render a still and save out as a PNG and it will import into VS6 and overlay (as a Still) just fine. I did try rendering Each Frame of the spinning skull as PNGs and assemble the animation in VS6 and again I ended up with the jagged edges...even if this did work it would not be do-able with my 6sec clip of a waving flag (too many frames!)
Perhaps my AVI aspect size to VS6? I notice that while in VS6 I am working in only 720x480 however my final target is to burn to DVD in Wide Screen (I also would like to have MPG and/or AVI to play direct from computer on home entertainment system to TV)
A little background: I do historic reenacting at various events, shows, parties, Tall Ship events, Ren Fairs, and such. The overlays I want for various use: Title effects, overlay photos/videos within the project. Video files come from my Sony HDR-CX430V, photos from Canon SD790IS.

Jul 11, 2013I am trying to overlay a logo on top of my titles. The logo is a circle and is in PNG format. When I use this logo in documents it is totally transparent with only the circle showing. However, when I try to use it in my video the circle has a white square around it, the white being the transparent area.

Sep 16, 2011I was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?

Nov 22, 2004I have a file with 2 layers, one (Layerone) that is blank, i.e. no fill or anything. The other layer (Layertwo) has text. I save the file as a .gif, select transparent, select matte as none, and keep getting a white background when I upload the file to my website.
I also tried copying the text Layer to the clipboard, creating a a new file with the background set as 'transparent', then pasting the text only layer into the new file. I still get the white background when I upload to website.
It can't be this hard to get a transparent background. What am I doing wrong?

Jul 6, 2008I open a new document it's not a transparent background. Ill even start a new document as transparent and RGB. Still a white background when it is created. So I tried adding an image. Deleted the first layer. Still nothing. So I used a magic wand, deleted the background. Still white.

Apr 6, 2009I cropped out the background of a picture in Photohop (CS3) and then placed the image into an ad I am designing in Indesign. Although the background is suposedly transparent, it makes my black graphics in Indesign a shade darker... Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I noticed this after I printed the Indesin document to PDF.... So I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong in Photoshop, Indesign or when printing to PDF.
