VideoStudio :: X4 - See Final Output Size Before Or After Selecting Create Video File?

Aug 23, 2011

When first making the video in Edit mode, is there any way to see the final output size before or after selecting Create Video File before the file is created.

If I choose Create Disk it will show the output size.

If not what would the maximum running time be for DVD output?

VideoStudio :: Output Settings - Create Video File For Hard Disk

Jun 26, 2013

I've just completed my first project and when I attempt to create a video file for hard disk output I'm unsure what option I should select from the drop down box that gives me the highest quality without re-rendering the video.

My AVCHD 50p original files are according to the file properties in VSP -

PAL HDMV
H.264 Video
24bits, 1920/1080, 16.9
50.000 frames/sec
Variable bit rate (max.26000 kbps)
Dolby Digital Audio
48000 Hz, 5.1 channels 384 kbps

So it looks like I need to select AVCHD 1920x1080 50p however in the properties for that file creation, the video bitrate is max 20000 kbps (my video 24.7) and audio is only 2.0 (my audio 5.1).
I really would like to retain the 5.1 audio and my higher video bitrate.

Also when I view the project properties the video is shown as 1024 x 576.

PAL double (50 fps)
Microsoft AVI files
24 bits, 1024 x 576, 50 fps
Frame-based
Uncompressed
PCM, 48.000 kHz, 16 bits, 5.1 Channels

VideoStudio :: Unable To Create Output Video (Share)

Mar 23, 2012

I have upgraded to X5 (15.0.0.258) Windows 7 64-bit QuickTime Player 7.7.1 K-Lite_Codec_Pack_840_Basic.exe

I am using an input file of:

a 30 second .avi file, frame size 1440 x 1080 15 frames/sec
Video compression Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder, 24 bits, total 450 frames
Audio compression PCM 32.000 kHz, 16 bit Mono 960,000 samples.

I was using X3 version [URL].......

If all I do is clip the .avi to a 10 second output (eg .mpg, .mpg, .wmv) with no editing, I get a jerky movie (which appears to be one frame per second).

I have put up a 10 second clip here to show a sample of the jerkiness (which was created using x3) but it is the same jerkiness.

VideoStudio :: Stuttering / Jumping Video During Final Playback Revisited?

May 4, 2011

I'm able to view each clip individually without any playback problem upon capture. However, once I drop a clip into the timeline, the clip experiences a very slight but noticeable bit of stuttering/jumping/hiccuping every so many seconds during playback on the timeline. I was hoping that this might have just been occurring in preview mode, but after creating a video file, the problem still exists. This footage was captured using a Flip camera.

The manufacturer of the flip camera is suggesting that since the footage can play fine with the camera program (Arcsoft Media Impression) the problem seems to be related to the player codec on my computer. They suggested that I download the latest K-Lite Codec Pack to see if that would resolve the problem.

VideoStudio :: Video File Size

Nov 6, 2013

I recently purchased Corel Video Studio Pro X6. So far it has worked great except for one issue. When using it to make DVD's, the file take up far more room than the actual file size is.

I've converted old VHS tapes to .mpg files and I planned on using Corel to create DVD's, with menus, for my family. I ran into the issue of the files being far too big, so after some research I discovered that .mpg files were not size efficient. I then used Corel to convert them to .mp4 files. So now, for example, a file that was 1.06GB (.mpg) is no 70.7MB (.mp4). So on disc the files are considerably smaller, with little to no video/audio loss. But, once I opened up Corel and started a new project and tried to use the new smaller files they still take up just about the same amount of space on the DVD's. On my HDD all of the converted files take up the same amount of disc space as just a few of the original files. Yet on the DVD I can still only fit 3-4 videos.

VideoStudio :: Reducing VIDEO File Size?

I made a 8GB video in PAL sometime ago. Some of my relatives in Canada cannot view it. As I do not have the original footage, I imported the DVD into X3 and tried to create a DVD in NTSC format. The final size came to 9.3 GB and it appears X3 will not burn or create VIDEO_TS folders if the size is more than 9GB. I was hoping I could use DVDShrink to reduce the file size to fit a 8GB disc once the VIDEO_TS folder is created on the computer.

I really would like to keep the MPEG-4 format for the convenience to the viewer. VideoStudio :: Create A Video File For YouTube

Jan 25, 2011

I am using Video Studio Pro X2 to work with standard definition 16:9 .avi files captured from a mini dv camera.
Normally when I finish a project I just create a video file using the Same As Project Settings option to create a .avi file with no compression for playback on my PC.

I tried using the youtube uploader and was shocked how poor the video quality was...In the past I have experimented with creating a video file for youtube but my video's always appeared to be jumpy and miss frames once uploaded and took a long time to load, I read somewhere once to save the video as a HD .wmv file which did improve the picture quality a lot but didn't solve the missing frames or the long load time.

VideoStudio :: Create Video File Formats

Feb 17, 2011

I have 50 inch 1080p TV and a media player that can play almost any format. I have VideoStudio X3 and a decent core2 PC running XP. I have a few 1 hour each video files that I captured from my sony SD camcorder few years back using Firewire. These video files are like 25GB each and not high def.

Now I have edited some of these video files but I am not sure what is the best format to use when creating video file to watch it on my HDTV. I don't need to burn disks or re-edit the files once I am done editing one time.

I have tried custom MPEG2 with 8000 bit rate and 100% quality and it looks okay but grainy on my HDTV. I tried avchd/Blu-ray and they look much smoother on HDTV however they are a bit soft and dull in colors and not as sharp as custom mpeg2.

There are so many formats like DVD mpeg2/AVCHD/HDV/Blu-ray with mpeg2 or h.264 and videostudio help did not do a good job explaining them So I would hope experts here would guide me what best quality format should I pick for these SD videos so that they look nice on my HDTV. Would picking aspect ration to 16:9 make any difference for these sd video?

I am sure when I buy an HD camcorder I would have better options to keep picture quality great.

VideoStudio :: X4 - Can't Create DVD Video File In Widescreen

Aug 23, 2011

I just upgraded to the X4. I never had this problem with the X3. I use a hitachi camcorder and the clips it produces are mpeg. The settings I use on the X4 are the default settings. When I place the clips on the timeline, they show up as 16:9. When I press play, they are still in 16:9 format.

However, when I create a video file using option DVD 16:9, I get the following problem. While the clip is playing, it will start as 16:9 then change to 4:3 and then back to 16:9 again and so on.

Is there a setting that I'm supposed to change. This never happened with the X3.

VideoStudio :: Output HD MP4 Video

Nov 6, 2013

Nowadays, MP4 is widely used video format in our daily life and slowly it became the best popular video format. For some DIY lovers, It believes that you always edit your movies using a video editor like Sony Platinum Suite, Magi Movie Edit Pro Plus and Corel Video Studio Pro, etc. to make a your own style video.

Really happened, I am also a DIY lover and I always to edit my video with Corel Video Studio Pro X6 for playback on my portable device or burn movie to DVD. For example, I am an office worker and I always take much time on my way to work. So I rip the DVD to MP4 on Mac and then edit it with Video Studio Pro X6 for a better enjoyment.

Now let’s cut to the chase! It is really a big and exacting Serendipity. Yesterday I rip and convert my DVDs to my Mac computer and then edit it with my Corel Video Studio Pro X6. To my surprise, Seven minutes HD mp4 video, it just takes 9 minutes to output it. Then suddenly I got an idea, have a test with the entire popular video editor and Make a comparison.

After the test,I found that The same material, the same color and then same configuration,Corel Video Studio Pro X6 is obviously faster than Magi Movie Edit Pro Plus, Premiere CC、EDIUS7.0 and Vegas12, etc. Then I Immediately the video to my MOTOROLA ME865 SD CARDS and then play it with my smartphone, it is very smooth; then I copy the video to my U disk, and inserted it into my hisense flat-panel TV, it works well, too.

Seven minutes of hd MP4, the volume is 592 MB, and then a minute within 100 m on average, that is, an ordinary DVD, hd can hold 45 minutes MP4, convenient to keep the family film. The Conclusion is that ulead video studio has a bright spot, the new version of their X6 version described output hd MP4 has unique advantage! That’s all!

VideoStudio :: Can't Create Video File 1440 X 1080

All my clips are 1440 x 1080 but, for some reason, the Project Properties are 720 x 576.Don't see that as any problem providing I can select the higher quality settings when I go to create a Video File. And that's where the problem begins. If I go Share/Create Video File/Custom I can see the properties in the Save Options box are 720 x 576 and I can't change them.I've tried clicking on Options and looking under the Compression tab but my only options there are PAL DVD or NTSC DVD. I can't find any option that will let me get the file back to the original properties of 1440 x 1080.I'm NOT trying to create a DVD - just a high quality file that I can play back on my computer and on my HD TV.

VideoStudio :: Pixelation After Create Video File Phase

Feb 10, 2006

Nature of the problem: Following the recommended procedure, I get to the phase where you created a video file. However when I go to preview the file, its badly pixelated.

Properties of your source files: All are clips from unprotected DVDs and play fine when captured.

What devices are involved and their mode of connection: Direct from computer's DVD player/recorder.

Project Settings: As listed under recommended procedure.

Output format: Mpeg to be burned to DVD.

PAL or NTSC: NTSC
Error Codes (if any): None
System information: AMD 64 3500+ w/ Dual SLi 7800 GTs and 2 GB of RAM.

I suspect that its a setting somewhere that has been changed because on a prototype I made using some of the same clips it worked fine. Then just stopped and started pixelating out of the blue.

VideoStudio :: HD Video - Output Quality

Apr 17, 2011

I have been trying Video Studio a few times in the past. The first version I ever tried must have been Ulead Video Studio 7 or 8. I always liked the process oriented GUI and the goodies that are made so easy compared to other video editing software. I remember version 8 and next to be very unstable though, which is why I kept working with other software like Pinnacle. Each time there was a new version though I tried it and I have seen stability improving with every version. I would like to work with Video Studio a lot, however I have serious problems with output quality.

Since a few years I am filming HD video, AVCHD standard (1080i50) with a Panasonic HDC-SD5 and recently HDC-SD900. The last one, a new camera, offers incredible detail and quality. Of course I want to see the same quality in my end product, the output of the video editing software. Here is where I have a big problem.

1. When I save output as AVCHD an use smart rendering there are problems with the transition between two clips. There are blocks all over the place. I have tested this with X2, X3 and X4. I remember in X2 there seemed to be some frames in the wrong order at the end of each clip. In X3 there were blocks. In X4, which I am testing now, sometimes output is good, sometimes there are blocks worse than I ever saw in X3.

2. When I save as AVCHD, Bluray, H.264, ... no matter what format in 1080i without smart rendering there is a big quality loss. It is really visible, especially on the pc screen. I have tried many settings: bluray 2-pass encoding at 30.000bps, AVCHD and H.264 at 18.000bps. It seems to be impossible to get good quality out.

No matter what I did, I cannot even approach the input quality with Video Studio. And let's face it, it all comes down to the output!

I have tried encoding with some other free tools such as Handbrake and Staxrip. Of course these are not video editors, but at least I could compare the output quality.

VideoStudio :: Video Output For Vimeo

Nov 13, 2012

I'd like to post some videos on Vimeo .

They footage was shot in DV CAM on a Sony A1 and the footage and the project is:
PAL (25 fps), Microsoft AVI files, 24 bits, 720 x 576, 16:9, 25 fps, Lower Field First, DV Video Encoder -- type 1 DV Audio -- PAL, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

Vimeo recommends the following settings:

Codec: H.264 (MP4)
Frame rate: same as shot ie 25 fps
Data rate: 2000 kbps (SD)
Choose 640×480 for 4:3 SD video, 640×360 for 16:9 SD video

If you have the option to control the pixel aspect ratio (not the display aspect ratio), make sure it's set to "1:1" or "1.00," sometimes referred to as "square pixels."

Deinterlacing: Maybe - if you are shooting on an older camera, enable the deinterlacing option. Otherwise, you may get weird-looking horizontal lines in your video. With newer camera models, deinterlacing shouldn't be an issue, so you can leave this option unchecked.

Audio
Codec: AAC (Advanced Audio Codec)
Data rate: 320 kbps
Sample rate: 44.1 kHz

When tying to create the file though the frame size for mp4 though does not seem to give an option for 640x360 on the drop down menu. 640 x 480 seems to make it look stretched? Should I choose 720 x 576 as it originally was?

Also, what should I do with the box 'perform non square pixel rendering?' and how does that relate to the pixel aspect ratio info? And what about the bit about deinterlacing - not sure what that means.

I've been playing with a free trial of X5 and I'm tempted to buy the full version but I am struggling to get good quality output.

I have a number of clips at 1080p (30fps) and 720p (60fps). These look excellent when played raw from the videocamera files (MP4s), but no matter what output I select from Videostudio they look as if there is a stutter as if played at a lower fps. This effectively renders Videostudio a non-starter as my videos will look worse edited than unedited. Am I missing something, or is this a limitation of the software.

I have a hex core AMD 1050T with 16GB of memory and a GTX560Ti so there should not be a performance problem.
