VideoStudio :: H2 Sync Loses Frames

Oct 28, 2011

I place a live music video clip in the timeline. I add the audio clip from a Zoom H2 to the timeline. I sync it up at the beginning matching the audio from the video clip. When I check it 25 minutes into the project the sync is no longer exact. If I slide the audio clip up two frames it is synced at the 25 minute mark but now it's not exact in the beginning. I need to use both sources of audio.

VideoStudio :: Pro X3 Loses Sound On Most MP4 Inputs?

May 11, 2013

I have been using this product for years on XP, with success. However, just this past week, when I try to add an MP4 to the timeline, and play the clip or project, there's no sound, for about 80% of MP4's I've tried. I have uninstalled the product and SmartSound (both), and reinstalled, including all patches, having tried the sound before installing the patches. I know my hardware and OS are underpowered, but it worked, prior, without me making any system changes before this situation arose.

VideoStudio :: X5 Loses Sound Between Clips?

Oct 4, 2012

I've been using X5 to edit a project that has about 20 small clips in it. I've noted that (1st occurrence of this) moving from one clip to the next in the main project timeline, the sound in the next clip just vanishes. Selecting the affected clip individually and then playing confirmed its got sound there.

This was first seen after turning ripple editing on (the little padlock went from open to closed). But various measures did not remove the effect:

- turning ripple editing off

- delecting the affected clip - the next clip in turn was affected by this

- closing X5 without saving the project changes, then re-starting X5 and opening that project. At the same point in the timeline, sound went away.

Is there any known explanation for this, and how can I remove this effect?

VideoStudio :: Sound Out Of Sync?

Jun 10, 2012

I am attempting to transfer old VHF video to DVD. Using Hauppauge win Tv capture I achieve a surprisingly good quality sound and vision when capturing and all appears well. But! when I play back the VSP, after approx 2 seconds the sound starts going out of sync and progressively gets further and further out of sync, at worst approx 1 min separation. I hoped that after rendering this would correct itself, but no. I am using UVS 1.

VideoStudio :: Not Sync First Number Blu-ray

Nov 3, 2013

I have a music project with H.264 Video files. The files are all from the same camera and are the same. After burning a BluRay folder on a NTFS external hard disc the first song (is the first from the original video files) is going out of sync. The rest of the Blu Ray is in sync.Watching the first file separtely (KMPlayer and panasonic blyray player) everything is ok.Watching the project in Video Studio before burning everything is ok.

To prevent the out of sync I have made a "smart-proxy file" of the first file, before burning. But sadly no differences. (any need to make a smart-proxy file of all files??)

But not exactly, and after taken some actions I still got out of sync. It has something to do with the BluRay burning but I can not find the cause of it.

VideoStudio :: X4 Video / Audio Out Of Sync?

Dec 27, 2011

I've edited together some PAL SD video clips, that I copied and pasted from my Sony DCR-SX53ES camcorder, and auto-generated music and when I preview the project through the edit screen everything is okay. I then selected Create Video File and DVD and the output file completed successfully, however, when I play back the file both the original audio from the video clips and the added music are out of sync with the video pictures by about 4 seconds.

This did not happen the previous time I used X4 with the same camcorder and on the same PC, how to correct it.

VideoStudio :: Audio / Video Out Of Sync?

Sep 19, 2012

I just downloaded the VideoStudio X5 Trial, and want to crop a 10-minute video of my baby to the minute she's singing. Her grandparents would love it.

I noticed that when I imported the video into the timeline, the audio was about 0.75s ahead of the video, when in "Project" mode. In "Clip" mode it looked/sounded fine. When I render the video, it also has the same sync problem as in "Project" mode.

Here are the details of the video:

Video type: H.264 Baseline Profile Video

Attributes: 24 bits, 1280 x 720
Frame rate: 29.908 frames/sec
Data rate: 11965 Kbps

VideoStudio :: X5 - MOV Audio Out Of Sync In Project?

Aug 5, 2012

I'm trying to create a music video in the latest trial of X5 (with SP1 and latest QT) with not much luck as the audio/video sync keeps changing.

I've imported all my .MOV files into a project library, files ranging from 50mb to 1gb in size.

Clip properties are:

Video Track 1:
24bit, 1920x1080
29.970 frame/sec
Sound Track 1:
Compression: 16-bit Little Endian
48K, 16bit, stereo

From the get-go, when I Preview or Clip trim view any video segment, the audio is slightly out of sync. I've confirmed the original clip file is fine.

Since I am trying to sync only the video portion of the clip to a pre-recorded audio file I went ahead and lined up a few video clips with the audio file and it see if it would export in in sync but no such luck. Even after synching my video to my pre-recorded audio, the export is out of synch.

X5 looks like a decent program but if I can't even preview my clips with a good audio synch I think this X5 is tremendously flawed.

VideoStudio :: Audio Sync Error In X3?

Mar 30, 2012

I have a problem with audio in Video Studio 3. When I insert an AVI file into the timeline and edit it, the audio becomes offset with the video. I have tried just inserting the audio but have the same problem.

If I insert the audio file and click on Sound Mixer I can see the waveform of the file. Although I can hear the audio from the start, the first 1 second of the waveform is at zero and the waveform remains 1 second behind the sound.

If I pause the file and click the curser further along then the offset becomes much greater, around 30 seconds.

If I split the clip at say 10 seconds and delete the first 10 seconds then move the remainder to zero on the time scale, the the remaining file seems to have around 30 seconds missing from the start but the waveform shown stays correct.

I have tried with ripple editing turned on and off. Becoming very frustrated when trying to sync four cameras and their audio.

VideoStudio :: X2 And Windows 7 - Audio Out Of Sync?

Oct 19, 2010

I have used X2 for a couple years, but recently bought a new PC with Windows 7. I finished a project (successfully), then after finding and downloading the Windows 7 patches, I was able to burn the project. However, at some point roughly 5 minutes in, all the audio is ahead of the video by about a half a second, and remains that way for the remainder of the project. Watching the project in X2, it works fine, so it is a burn issue. I tried normalizing audio, but that doesn't work. It just seems like a software glitch.

VideoStudio :: Audio / Video Out Of Sync

Apr 5, 2012

I purchased (USB-Live 2) to convert VHS tapes to DVD. I initially purchased "Ulead VideoStudio 11" to capture and edit video, but the software wouldn't work. I received the following messages: "cannot start the capture graph" or "cannot capture: copy protected material". I was unable to receive a solution from the Hauppauge tech people or the corel tech people, therefore I purchased the Pinnacle studio 12 software and their Dazzle DVC 100 capture device.

Using the "USB-Live 2" device and Pinnacle Studio 12 as my capture software and Ulead VideoStudio 11 to edit and burn, I successfully converted about 100 VHS tapes to DVD disks. Then the Audio would not sync. What happens is that for about 5 minutes the audio will be out of sync, then something happens and the audio will re-sync and stay in sync until the end of the project. But, with the next tape I try to capture the same problem occurs. When in capture mode I can start capture and let it record for about 5 minutes, then, start the tape in the VCR and the audio will be in sync. I wiped the Hard drive and reloaded Windows XP and all of my programs. I also replaced the sound card, but I still have the same problem. I think the problem is with the Hauppauge USB-Live 2 capture device. If I use the Dazzle DV100 there is no sync problem, just a lot of dropped frames. Also, now when I am capturing the video I have no audio but when I edited the project the audio will be on. When I installed the New Sound Card I disabled the onboard HD Audio and it is still disabled. The following are my computer specs.

Asus P5NSLI motherboard
Intel Core 2 DUO 2.66GHz
3 GB DDR2 800 MHz Ram
Nvidia GeForce GT220
Asus Xonar DG 5.1 Sound Card
Hard Drive: 2- 320 Gb drives

VideoStudio :: Audio Out Of Sync - VHS Tape To DVD

Mar 11, 2011

Am converting a VHS tape to DVD. So captured successfully (albeit with an EzCap device). Produced a fairly good quality AVI file and with no editing at all, used VS x2 to produce my mpeg compatible file.

Details of that file are here:
File Format: PAL DVD
File Size: 4,514,938 KB
Duration: 6056.920 Secs
Video Type: MPEG 2 Video, Lower Field First
Totoal Frames: 151,173 frames
Attributes: 24 bits 720 x 576, 16:9
Frame Rate: 25.000 frame/sec.
Data Rate: Variable (Max 6000 kbps)
Audio Type: Dolby Digital Audio
Total Samples 290.252,160 Samples
Attributes: 48000 Hz, 5.1 Channels
Layer: None
Bit Rate 384 kbps

Started a new project, imported the mpeg into the timeline and proceeded to produce my DVD folders. The only custom setting was to reduce the bitrate to 5,000 to get the whole file onto one DVD.

So far so good. Problem is slight out of sync audio towards the middle to end of the DVD. It gets progressively worse as if the audio is at a slightly different frame rate to the video! I have double checked my settings when burning the DVD folders and they are the same as the mpeg except for the bitrate and I have chosen LPCM Audio 48000 Stereo. I tried first with Dolby but that gave the OOS so thought I would try this new setting but the result was the same.

VideoStudio :: Sync Sound Won't Play

Feb 22, 2011

When I run my project with sound on, those clips shot with a HDV camcorder do not play the sync-sound recorded on them properly. I know that the sound recorded with the clops is perfectly alright as it plays properly when each clip is run individually. when they are run as a part of the whole in the project mode all I get is an unintelligible beating sound. I also have clips in the project that were shot with a DV camcorder and the sync-sound with them plays perfectly alright in any mode. I am unable to find any mention of sync-sound in Corel's user guide and am at a loss of what to do to make the sync-sound play correctly. I haven't attempted to lay my sound-track for the project yet.

VideoStudio :: Video - Audio Out Of Sync

Oct 9, 2011

I have read the thread regarding sound breaking up in ProX3. I have this same problem in ProX3 and ProX2. But all of a sudden I am also experiencing the problem of the video and audio being out of sync in files from my Sony Handycam HDR-CX350 set on Standard. The video files I take using either a Sony or Olympus that I mainly use for still shots work fine.

When I first installed ProX2 and then ProX3 my struggle was with the changes in menus and such as I had been using VS11.5 but the videos themselves worked okay. Now all of a sudden I am experiencing the sound problems. I cannot tie the changes in with any specific Win update as I just don't remember the sequence of events.

At one point I had installed a PowerPoint video converter which gave me a registry error message at the time but the sound problems developed much after that time.

Yesterday I downloaded a trial version from another company thinking perhaps I needed to move on but I believe the out of sync problem is worse with that software than with Corel software.

I am wondering if a setting got changed in how the software manages the video from the handycam but I guess I am not smart enought to see what it might be.

VideoStudio :: Sync Audio / Video During Editing

Dec 29, 2010

I am using VS 10 and I have successfully captured all the video needed for this project (DV format). My project is an interview where I used 2 cameras during the recording session. On one camera I used a microphone and I want to use that audio throughout the project for consistency. At the beginning of the session I recorded a timer from my laptop screen to better sync the video during editing.

I placed one camera video on the video track and the other on the overlay #1 track. I moved the overlay clip so it matched the frame of the timer on the video track. The 2 tracks synched up perfectly. How to cut back and forth from the second camera. I extracted the video track audio to the audio track thinking I could just cut the video track and the overlay track and slide the overlay track up to the video track. But, it won’t let me cut the overlay track. By the way, while not an expert,I am also not a first time user with the software as I have made a number of projects over the years.

VideoStudio :: Video And Audio Drift Out Of Sync On DVD

Jan 29, 2013

I was following the old instructions on the recommended way of working with UVS10+ re DVD creation, i.e. do the work on the project save as a video file then come back into UVS10+ with a new project with nothing in the timeline (old computer Win XP, for burning I have a video editing profile) when ready to go into burn phase. In burn phase did the title, added transitions between the 10 clips, let UVS10+ auto add chapters between clips.

Kept all burn phase properties the same as the original, with smart render (no re-render of compatible MPEG2).

Burnt it on to a DL disc, all seemed hunky dory (but took ages to do the title) until came to play it, and then I found that the sound had gone progressively out of sync on the DVD.

The video files are kept on an external hard drive connected via USB. To be honest the old XP computer does run very slow now, as they all do with time as leeches attach themselves and drain speed and resources.

My question is what are the usual suspects for sync problems ? Data transfer from external hard drive ? Project settings in burn phase different from edit phase ?

Would it be better to create an iso on the internal C-Drive, then burn from the iso ? NB whatever USB port I attach devices to front/rear etc. I have always got the message this device can run faster, searched the net tried all the tips to no avail.

However this did not prevent me from creating single layer DVDs without sync problems in the past using this set-up/way of working, but PC is way slower now.

I guess the PC's effective speed might be in the frame ? How far back will the 'rot' go ?

Should I go as far back as putting the converted clips into the time line in the edit phase (totally new project), or will the VSP project/video files be ok, i.e. problem at data transfer/burn stage.

I'm thinking about re-doing the XP user profile to ensure that later installs have not cluttered all the profiles on the machine, i.e. including the video editing profile.

When I put transitions in where the video meets the photo or when the photo then meets up with the video again the audio gets out of sync. Is there a way to get the transition in there and still have the audio track be in sync with the rest of the video?

V=video T=transition "photo for 4 seconds" is where the photo has bee inserted. A= audio track X=out of sync

VideoStudio :: Cross-fading Video Without Disturbing Audio Sync

Jan 16, 2012

I'm trying to edit a music performance shot with multiple cameras, both video and still, using VS X4. I'd like to e.g. insert (full-screen pan & scan) still pictures into the video stream with video cross-fading in and out, but I cannot find a way to get a satisfactory end result without breaking audio/video synchronization.

I've tried the following:

a) Put the picture on the overlay track. If I now put cross-fades on the overlay track, the fades are to/from black, not between main track video and overlay still, which is not the desired result. It is expected functionality, though, so no bug there.

b) Put the picture on the same (main) track with the video. First, I split the audio to a separate audio track to keep it intact. Then I split a piece of video out using chapter markers as guides and replace the cut-out piece with a still picture of equal duration. So far audio sync remains fine. But if I now insert cross-fades into the main track, it gets out-of-sync with the audio with every cross-fade (video gets shorter, probably to compensate for the audio missing in the still pictures?), and it is really cumbersome to manually repair sync after every transition.

Would there be any way to get cross-fades in for multi-camera processing without messing audio synchronization? Some nice function key (press CTRL/SHIFT/ALT etc. while dropping the transition onto the overlay track to force it to process between the overlay and the main video track instead)?
