VideoStudio :: Smart Render 25mb/s AVCHD Files
Mar 14, 2011I've purchased a sony VG10E camcorder that has sourced capture at 25mbps. I have been using premiere pro for years and now find render for the imported 1 hour source AVCHD files takes over a day ! (and still changes original source material ). I've heard that the latest video studio smart renders AVCHD.
Can this provides untouched source file reproduction after editing using my sony 25mbps quality?(i'd expect untouched to remain same, while touched/transitionss etc will require render).

Jan 24, 2011I tested yesterday creating a video using "same as first video". All inserted files were AVCHD. The created video file, typed mpg, was missing audio no matter what I tried: tried mp4, avi, etc. I then turned off Smart Render in the options that pop-up when creating the video and it worked ( I have Smart Render turned off in the Preferences, BTW). Feb 15, 2013Apparently the occurrences tab setting aren't easily accessible through the code snippets in ilogic.
How would one go about writing a rule that, in essense, would say:
If x = "whatever" then
occurrence.enabled = false
else
occurrence.enabled = true
end if
I've been reading that LOD's and suppression aren't the best course of action for assemblies especially when you're dealing with 20-40 parts as I am. I've got an assembly and parts controlled by a spreadsheet and when things are clicked off in the spreadsheet they need to be off in the model/drawings/bills etc. I have it working (to an extent) with suppression of parts in the assembly, but that casues LOD errors in the drawings. Research says parts are best disabled which is what i'm trying to do.

Apr 25, 2013I'm trying to do a 3D tutorial I found on youtube. Photoshop is not behaving the same way as what I'm seeing however. I think the problem relates to the OpenGL rendering of the shadows. See te example pics below.
This is the scene lit with 1 point light but not yet rendered. The shadows on the point light are turned off.

how to display the shadows correctly on the pre-rendered OpenGL version so I can place my light sources.
I'm using a W7 machine with a Core i5, an AMD 6870 card, and 16 gigs of ram. The video drivers were updated today.
Also, if I look at the same file on my work computer (with an Nvidia Quadro M card inside) it works fine - the pre-rendered view (with shadows) looks great. Is there some Photoshop preference or graphics adapter setting I need to be using?

Nov 27, 2013Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex.
This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.
How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

Reading many pages of posts that refer to ffdshow, virtually none of them suggest there is anything to do beyond just installing ffdshow, so this would not seem to be a common issue. I found one old thread from 2008 where someone asked if VS asked if it should use ffdshow on startup, but I have never seen that prompt.
I have a brand new copy of VS Pro X4, I downloaded and installed ffdshow and Haali Media Splitter, but I have not made any configuration changes.

The package is not included with AMD Catalyst 12.10.

VideoStudio :: X5 - Enable Hardware Encoder Greyed Out?
May 22, 2012I downloaded the trial for Video Studio X5 and have managed to make a few videos already with it (mostly desktop screen recordings in 1080p). However, after realizing how slow my renderings were, I toyed around with the settings and noticed that the Enable Hardware Encoder option is greyed out. Meaning that I cannot enable it. I can, however, enable other Hardware acceleration features.
I'm not totally sure what the issue might be since I'm pretty sure my GPU supports this feature ... or does it? Or could it be a limitation of the trial version ... ?
Currently, I'm running:
+ Windows 7 64-bit
+ EVGA Nvidia GTX 670 2GB
+ Intel i7-3770 Ivy Bridge
+ 16 GB DDR3 1600

Mar 13, 2012In any case, when I try to enable System Audio in the screen capture setup, I get an error message saying that it can't find any system audio.
System audio is working fine on my system, and neither Camtasia, CamStudio nor two other screen capture applications that I use have any problem with this whatsoever.

Sometimes I forget to click that OPTIONS button to go into the config screen where I need to uncheck the SmartRender box.
I'd like it so that every time I create a file, that SmartRender box is unchecked by default so that I don't have to remember to click that Options button and perform the change each and every time.
Is there a way to do that?

Jan 2, 2013Did you notice that when trying to grab a node on the audio line (especially near the end of the clip) the graphic tip that pops up saying "Delete the control by dragging outside the clip" ACTUALLY PREVENTS ONE FROM GRABBING THE DARN NODE TO DO ANYTHING WITH IT ! (Just shouting at my own computer here).
Is it my computer putting these annoying popup tips on the screen or is there a way in VS to turn them off.

I have not used the software in about a year and now the button is not available for me to turn off from the capture screen. How can i turn that off? I find that during capture i get less a chance of dropped frames if i turn off the Audio Preview.

The question is, "Is it possible to completely disable re-scaling image on the import?"
It seems like it has only 2 options, "Fit to project" and "Keep aspect ratio".
What I want is something "Keep source resolution" because when I put an image of a map, which is 2 or 3 times larger than the project resolution, the image become completely useless due to the re-scaling.
Now, again, is there way to ditch this re-scaling?

Sep 13, 2012I have WINDOWS 7 on a toughbook and vx4 and I will try to SHARE>CREATE VIDEO FILE> MPEG and it will start to render and get to around 90-99% and then the render box goes away and the files won't be made. This used to happen once in a while and i woul just run it again and it would work, sometimes I would try to render as a different kind of file but now I can't get it to render anything. The box simply disappears after 90%.

Feb 5, 2011I have WMV 1080p30 source files that I am trying to render to an 5-6min MP4 HD file for upload to Youtube. I am able to make WMV HD files, but wanted to see if MP4 HD files would make a better final outcome on Youtube (Youtube seems to add a lot of jaggies to my WMV uploads). However, whenever I try to render anything to MP4 HD, VSX3 crashes (it never gets past the "Creating files" message). The windows error log states that the faulting modules are kernel32.dll and ntdll.dll. I have QT 7.6 (not the latest) installed. I have XSVX3 updated to SP2 (although the file downoaded was patch3.exe). In the Make Movie template and in Share/Custom , I don't get the option to see/manipulate any MP4 HD formats or even use H.264 compression. When I bring up Mpeg-4, it allows me to use mainly standard-def or non-HD resolutions and on-H.264 codecs. Is it not seeing the profiles/codecs for HD H.264 from Quicktime? Do I need QT Pro or just the free QT? I can render MP4 non-HD. As an aside, I see no sign that CUDA is being utilized.
