I am having no luck trying to chop up a 13-hour, 26GB .mpg into smaller segments using Video Studio 11+. The error is telling me that the 'total duration is greater than the maximum project duration..." and will not allow me to edit. Is this a limitation of VS11+? How big a file can I edit without error> Can I increase/override the maximum duration of a project?
View 2 RepliesI have used Corel Video Studion for a number of years. I purchased VideoStudio Pro X4 some months ago and have no problem until now.Having edited a film into five segments. I have re-edited each segment with success until I got to the last one, having saved the earlier ones at each stage so only dealing with one at a time. On saving the last segment all went well until playback when I got the correct audio BUT the picture is now just a BLUE screen and nothing else. In desperation I delted the programme from the computer then reloaded, updated with service pack 1 and 2. Also, followed an on line recommendation to putin a new dll detail. Restarted the computer, downloaded the film and re-edited the final segment. It did seem to save quicker but AGAIN i have the correct audio BUT the same BLUE screen and for the life of me I do not know why.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor a project I am working on, I would be like to be able to slice a photograph up into a number of smaller segments. I can explain what I want to do best in terms of what this would look like if I were working with a physical print.
Let's say the print is 8 X 10 inches. I'd like to take that print and cut it up into 16 half inch strips along the 8 inch side, and then cut those horizontally into 20 half inch little squares. It would sort of resemble a jigsaw puzzle but of course all the side would be straight. Is there a convenient way to do this in Photoshop? I'd want to be able to remove these and rearrange them in PS or perhaps paste each segment into inDesign or Quark.
I have this object (shape path) that is like a continous loop or ribbon. see below:
I would like to break it into two seperate shapes: a top half, and bottom half. I need to remove some between them though.
Unfortunately, I cannot make the scissor tool, knife tool or cut path tool work correctly. It just doesn't seem to work, no matter whether I have anchor points selected or not.
I have also tried duplicating the object and trying to delete anchor points until I'm left with one of the shapes. However, because of the ordering of anchor points, I end up with a blue line connecting one end of the object to the other.
I've got a large file that is about 72x54. I want to cut it up into pieces that are about 24x18 and print it pieces that I will tile together as a whole image after I print them. Is there a way to save out my file as 24x18 pieces?

(since POT is merely a schematic)
From 1/8" scale to 10' scale (96 to 120), the symbols by logic should appear
80% smaller, not larger.
Can this be done with annotative block?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn a nutshell - I am a seamstress attempting to make a pattern. Well, I have made the pattern - drawn it out on a large sheet of paper. I have manually "cut" it into letter-sized parts and scanned those parts onto my computer (with hash marks so that the parts can be matched back up to make the larger whole pattern).
I have spent a lot of time redrawing the lines in paint.net so they are neat and clean and more even. But then I went to print them and sizing is totally messed up and I am just not able to get my brain around this sizing thing. I need to be able to send these files to customers so they can print them out, put them together and have a pattern.
So, in effect, I have a large image that I want to print in puzzle pieces but they must maintain their *real* *life-sized* size. I'm attaching one of the individual files. What I need to do to it to make it be 8.5" x 11".
For example, I want to print one 17x22-inch image onto 2, 8.5x11-inch sheets.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been having the dreaded Mercalli re-analysed message and found a thread that described how to render just the clip first and then insert into the project. I have just a few short SD clips in my project, the rest are standard jpg's. I rendered the short video clip with Mercalli and then inserted that clip into the final project. The only settings that seem to work reliably (in rendering the small clip) are HDV720p HDV and WMV. Other settings still produce a clip with the Mercalli message on it. Why though is the rendered clip smaller on the screen than the original? When it is inserted in the project timeline, it plays with black borders all around it like it is in a window instead of full screen. I'm happy to get rid of the Mercalli message, but not too thrilled about this break in continuity of the project by having shrunken images.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have used many different video editing packages and really like videostudio. The high quality output and many features make it a solid product.
However, I am confused why there is no way to change the speed of an audio or video clip in smaller than 1% increments. 1% is a very large increment, even when dealing with a 3 minute clip. An exact sync is near-impossible. .1% would be a great deal better.
I see in the 'change speed' dialog that you can also choose the clip duration, down to 10ths of seconds. But when I do this it seems to 'snap' to the nearest percent.
Is there no way to change the speed in smaller increments than 1% or am I missing something?
how to make my edited mp4 video files smaller so that They upload and download much quicker. I did some editing to some MPEG-4 video files and when I was finished I found out that the file sizes of each video blew up to huge numbers. During the editing I did add some transitions and .MPEG photo images. I didn't think that the video size would grow to that amount. I really would like to keep the MPEG-4 format for the convenience to the viewer. I just need to have it in the smallest file size possible. how I can get my "MP4 H264 - MPEG-4 AVC Resolution 640x480" videos to an acceptable file size?

Normally when i'm done editing, I choose Share > Create Video File > DVD. This creates a DVD compatable mpeg-2 file for burning later. I know I want to create 2 seperate DVD's. How do I split the video? Is it possble to slpit in the editing phase? I'm using VS pro 12.

BTW: I used to be a TV new photog back in the day of Bolex 16mm and Auricon SOF...so I'm only experienced with; a Fearless Houston film processor, masking tape (to hang up the clips); cement and a slicer to join the clips; a film cleaner and pad to clean the edited footage.
Having made my excuses, this is my problem: I shot 1:58min , 720HD MP4 which I've edited down to 1:38 running time. Corel Studio Pro 6x is telling me 10.83GB are needed and my DVD is just 4.7 GB ready.
First: will the Video Studio 6x convert the final product to either MPEG2 or AVCHD so it will play on my Panasonic BD75 DVD player? They appear to be viable options on Corel x6 but the Adobe Premire Elements 3 I tried to use to burn a disc to didn't like my MP4.
Second: assuming Corel will burn it as MPEG@A or AVCHD, how do I break my completed project into two smaller ones so that I can burn them on two discs, assuming it's impossible to compress them into one disc. The finished file is 4.3 GB so why that won't fit onto a 4.7 DVD is another question.
I've built a project up with several smaller project file components. It's an easier way to create a video than editing one big project.
Opening the overall project and running it on screen is not a problem. However, when I try to create a smart package of the composite project, I get a consistent error message rejecting the process because of the existence of the component vsp's.
Is there a way to avoid the error and create a smart package from a project file that has smaller component project files?
I captured approximately 1 hour DV file contained different scenes from different places. Now, I would like split this file for smaller parts and save them as a separate .avi files.
Is this possible to do this by VSX3 (e.g. cut or multitrim on timeline and save to separate folder each pieces?
If X3 cannot do this, what software you can recommend for relatively easy and quick multi-split, without loose quality?
I'm a new user to VS and need combining 2 mpg files into 1 large video.
I have 2 mpg files that I would like to merge together to create 1 large continuous video. The 2 mpg files are in a folder on my D drive.
Just downloaded the trial of Video Studio Pro X6 and am trying it out. I have a past background with Adobe Premiere and even VideoPad, so while I'm not new to video editing, X6 is a little different to me. My two main problems at present are sizing and capture.
I'm trying to figure out how to resize clips that are too small, or too large for that matter, to the mpeg2 standard of 720P (16:9) I usually use. When I put...say...a 640 x 480 clip or still on the timeline there seems to be no tool to change their sizes with (that I have found so far). There are 8 squares that sometimes show up on the image, which allow me to resize, but when finished and I go to do something else, the image just pops back to it's original size. So I must be missing something here.
The second main problem I'm presently having is capturing video...which the program won't do. At present, I am capturing analog video through a USB device. When I try to capture, I get an error message telling me that the capture plug-in is already in use, or is missing, or so on. I have discovered on the web that this problem is very common! Why? I have never had a video capture setup on this particular computer before, so there's nothing on it to interfere with X6. So should I assume that the capture plug-in is not included with the trial? Can this plug-in be downloaded by itself?
I have for 2 years fighting with any video longer than 30 mins. I recently started doing amature recordings of sporting events with 3 camera views or 3 layers of video, one audio, corss-fading and titles.
To date I have only atempted 2.
While playing the video in the edit mode or even the preview window, it plays fine for 5 seconds then starts to studder and progressively chuggs so bad its impossible to edit.
So I bought a NIVIDA 550GTX-Ti. Did not improve even the slightest.
So before I purchase X-5, the NIVDIA support people asked me if the graphics card is compatable with videostudio. I have duel core 2.4, with 2gg ram.

I have a family photo including many text layers. I'm trying to edit the text in a selected large multi-line text layer. I'm following the steps from the appropriate PSE article, but I always end up creating a new layer and the red/green no-go/go option. I thought I should just be able to double-click the text layer and start editing.
I recently downloaded the trial version of VSP X5. And now, I have a new 12 MP camera as opposed to the 5 MP I had before. Anyway this new camera shoots in video mode at 1920, 1280 and 640. When I use 1920 or 1280 (HD), the file size of the videos are huge, so when I import them to VSP, they take a very long time to import. Is this normal when you want high res videos or is there something I can do to cut down on the file size. To test it out, I shot 20 second videos at all three resolutions. In 1920, the file size was almost a whole gig at only 20 seconds. It would be much larger than that for lets say a 20 minute movie. I'm guessing that would take all day to import.
Correction: Actually, It's taking long to "Create a Video File", not to import the video. Anyway, is it normal for the program to take so long to create a file? if it's a 15 or 20 minute video, it will probaly take at least a couple of hours to create at that resolution.
I've been using Video studio X3 for a while now and without problem but I'm really struggling with editing an old DVD of mine.
I've copied all the VOB files to my hard drive, changed the .vob to .mpg on all files, imported to X3 and tried to multi-trim each file - which is what I always do and usually without problems.
For some reason, these MPGs seem to race through at 5/6 times normal speed on the timeline and yet the edit/preview window plays in normal time ...... result being that the slider reaches the end of the timeline for the file and yet the video is still running quite happilly in the viewing window !!!
It's impossible to edit like this as the timeline and the window are not only out of sync but running at different speeds !
I am looking to create a collage made from 100 photos (all taken high res) to be printed large, approx 120cm x 50cm. To be able to print this size I need to keep the high resolution and hence looking for a large file output.

What I mean is, in MediaStudio Pro, from the Audio in Timeline, I can raise the audio up, then few minutes, low it down, then few seconds later, raise up again etc...From what I see right now on X6, for audio I can only either use the Audio filter to low down or to raise up the whole clip but not, raise up or low down at at any part that I want to.
