I have a 32 GB video in several segments that I would like to edit, including combining the segments, eliminating some audio, and adding voice over and possibly still shots. Can I do this in LR4?
View 1 RepliesMy video material holds two voices that were recorded on CH1 and CH2 in mono, resulting in a stereo clip that has one voice on the left channel and one voice on the right channel. So far I always duplicated the audio clips and use fill right and fill left. I just found out about channel mappings in CS2 and CS3, but for my actual project it is too late since it is cut already. It is my first project I'm doing in CS2 and after it is finished I will install CS3. So my first question is: When I use the channel mapping command, how are the resulting mono channels handled in the master? Will each mono channel fill the right AND the left channel of the stereo master track?
With delight I found out that the channel mixer in CS2 allows to use fill right and fill left effects, so I don't have to drag the effects on each clip separatley.
My second question is regarding the mixing of the two voices. Since we couldn't afford to have a professional sound engenieer at the shoot the channel of the voice that was not talking wasn't turned down, so the second voice will be heard on the other channel when the two people stood close together. Is there a more efficient way to mix the two voices instead of using rubber bands to bring down one voice when it is not talking? It's a hell lot of work.
I have used Corel Video Studion for a number of years. I purchased VideoStudio Pro X4 some months ago and have no problem until now.Having edited a film into five segments. I have re-edited each segment with success until I got to the last one, having saved the earlier ones at each stage so only dealing with one at a time. On saving the last segment all went well until playback when I got the correct audio BUT the picture is now just a BLUE screen and nothing else. In desperation I delted the programme from the computer then reloaded, updated with service pack 1 and 2. Also, followed an on line recommendation to putin a new dll detail. Restarted the computer, downloaded the film and re-edited the final segment. It did seem to save quicker but AGAIN i have the correct audio BUT the same BLUE screen and for the life of me I do not know why.

The error is telling me that the 'total duration is greater than the maximum project duration..." and will not allow me to edit. Is this a limitation of VS11+? How big a file can I edit without error> Can I increase/override the maximum duration of a project?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWe have been asked many times if it is possible to combine two projects and still retain the editing functions, That both projects open in the same timeline showing all clips and the edits that have been applied, allowing for further editing of the full project.
We have always assumed this is not possible and suggest rendering the project to a video file, to be added to the second project. Otherwise use Nesting, adding the VSP to the timeline, something I do not recommend anyway.
Video Studio uses Instant Projects and these do open in an existing project and display individual clips.So why cant we create our own Instant Project” of a project and simply add that to another project. Well we can.I have just tried and was successful, there was a but of a delay in reading the clips with Video Studio doing a Not Responding act, It was quite a long project, a bit of patience and things loaded ok.
Using File – Export as Template an Instant Project Template will be created having the default location within the Custom library.Once created can be added to any project.

I was looking at a video editing tutorial for CS6 yesterday and I wanted to try it myself, but when I opened the timeline I noticed that my version of the timeline and the one in the video were completely different. At first I thought that it was just because I had to upgrade to CS6 Extended to get the full video editing experience, but when I searched around I saw nothing that would suggest that that would be the case.
Multiple people said that the regular CS6 version included the same video editing capabilities as the extended version, and the comparison chart on the Adobe website indicated the same thing. Do I really need to upgrade to the Extended version to get that feature?

I cannot seem to be able to leave a gap on the main video track at all whether ripple is on or off. What do I do to leave a gap in the main video track (with the video at that point in the overlay)?
Also I noticed the Track Manager has a greyed drop down to add video tracks. Is there a higher priced version to have more video tracks as opposed to overlay tracks?
I am shooting a series of studio shots into Lightroom 4.1 using EOS Utility. I would like each shot to show up in the Develop module with the same cropping for each. When I set the crop and lock it, the next shot defaults back to the default or entire image area. Is there a way to create a Custom crop and have LR crop each image as it is imported from EOS Utility?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a master shape file that contains parcel ID, owner, tax info., etc. I have another file ( access 2003 -open to better file format suggestions-) which contains parcel ID and a "yes" or " no" entry for whether or not the parcel needs a new water meter. All I want to do is add the water meter information into the other shape file. This would create one shape file with one table with all the information that I need.
Ultimately I will use the information to do a map query and find out spatially where i need new water meters.
Right now i have the master shape file connected though the “Connect to Data” feature. I also have the new data added to the drawing though the Data sources------>attach under the “Map Explorer” Task pane. I attached access file (ver. 2003 .mdb) which has two columns “Parcel ID” and “Meter”.
I right click on the shape file under the display manager and select”Create a Join;” however my water meter table is not listed as an option. Will this not work?
Plan B - I tried to Create and connect to the access file as an ODBC connection. Followed this guy’s directions to a T [URL]. But when i populate my table under the fdo connection the column headings exist ( “parcel ID” and “Meter”) but the actual data is missing. Am I missing something important?
Note: I am running c3d 2012 on a Win 7 64 Bit machine. I also removed office 32 bit apps and installed 64 bit apps to see if that would solve the problem. No go.
When using the adjustments brush to locally increase exposure(for example) it seems that not all pixels are covered. In the red display of the selected zone you can see black spots all over the zone that are not selected even after repeated use of the adjustment brush. The result looks like heavy noise and is pretty bad. I must say it gives the impression that it happens with "low light" pictures only!? Windows/XP3, Lightroom2.2

Is it possible to merge the two together?
We have a bunch of shots taken using natural light - the shots all have completely different exposure and white balance adjustments.
Now that the shots feel like they've been shot at the same time of day (and on the same day) we'd like to start adjusting the white balance accross multiple shots - but use the current white balance/exposure from each individual shot as the starting point - not reset the adjustments.
Kind of like baking the current settings or making adjustments on top of current adjustments - or make new adjustments relative to the current adjustments.
I combined 5 Lightroom Catalogs into one by using the 'import from another catalog' under the file menu. Now instead of having senior, family, wedding and children catalogs I have one. However, not all of the collections made it. All of the photos made it but collections are what I really work from once I have the photos imported. I still have the old catalogs that show all of the collections but they do not appear in the combined one. How can I get the rest of the photos to show up in the collections area of the combined catalog?

I look at Task Manager and dynamiclinkmediaserver.exe is pegged at close to 100% CPU usage and using 500MB of memory.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Lightroom 4.4 stopped importing videos and I don't know why. My Quicktime is up to date, my Lightroom is up to date, and quitting and opening Lightroom doesn't effect it. I tried purging the cache and it didn't effect it.
When I restart my computer and reopen Lightroom it will import a couple of videos and then stop working again.
Most videos from smartphones and a lot from point and shoot cameras are taken in vertical format.There doesn't seem to be a way to flip these videos so that they show up the right way.Video flipping is extremely important for video management. I don't want to preview and edit my videos sideways.Is this feature hidden somewhere or is it just not there?

I'm trying to decide if I should keep the photos and videos on separate smaller drives or on this single 4TB drive. Also I'm rying to decide if I should import the videos into Lightroom for tagging.
1. Would you recomend using a single drive for all of your photos and videos (I will be using a second drive to backup everything)? Does this slow down LR or cause any other potential issues?
2. Are there any issues with importing tons of videos files ranging anywhere from a few MB to hundreds of GB into LR for tagging?
I have a Macpro with 4 internal hard drives. I keep photos on one of the drives and videos on two of the other drives and swap out these drives with other drives that have videos on them. I also use external drives that have videos on them. I want to import videos from all of the different drives that I swap back and forth.
1. What will happen if I tag videos on the internal drives and then swap them out with other drives? Will it just show a broken link to the video until I put it back in?

First of all, the import takes an extremely long time - imorting around 150 videos took over 4 hours, for example. Secondly, once I've imported the videos no thumbnails are created -- they're all grey squares -- and Lightroom then has problems finding the original file for playback, even though the location (on my local drive) hasn't changed.
