VideoStudio :: Deblock To Smooth Skin
Dec 26, 2011A tip I came across by accident, if you'd like to smooth the skin of a subject without loosing too much detail, Deblock (at it's default setting) seems to do a good job.

How to make skin tone like newborn baby? It means: brightly, have a little pink, and translucent (I don't know how to say that...).
I am a long-term user of MSP7 and 8 but now need something for editing HD movies so have downloaded a trial version of VSPro X4. The layout looks familiar but not the black skin. Is there any way of changing to something other than white on black which I find very hard on my old eyes. Quite off-putting in fact - probably terminal as far as the trial goes. Or am I the only one who doesn't like it?

View 14 Replies View RelatedI am trying to include a video clip from an MPEG4 video which is 23.96fps into a video which I want to use at 25fps (PAL DVD).
No matter what I do the output is slightly jerky (in a pattern about every second) which I assume is caused by converting 23.96 fps to 25 fps.
Is there a way to do this with a smooth video output?
I am a amateur editor and do the basic stuff with the editing like color fixing and cropping/cutting. Since the time, i switched to HD videos the video does not render and playback smoothly in preview mode.
However in other editing programs like Vegas it plays back like butter but i am not into Vegas and i dont like vegas. I use Videostudio only.
the video plays back like in 1FPS or like 2-3FPS i mean the videos one picture is shown then directly after 2-3 seconds. The audio is howver smooth.
I have a Duo Core 2ghz Intel Processer,
I'm wondering if it is normal for my clips to have jerky preview. I am editing 1080p MOV clips and I've made sure that Smart Proxy is enabled and that the files do exist. Smart Proxy settings are default to activate with any clip that is larger than 720X480. After I've dragged a clip onto the timeline I get jerky preview if I select "clip" and then click play. But if I select "project" it plays smoothly. Scrubbing is also smooth. My question is why are my clips so jerky? It seems that "clip" preview is automatically using the original video file and not the proxy. I'm on a slow computer, but that's not the issue because everything except the individual clips plays smoothly. And yes, the Smart Proxy icon is on my clips and it's had plenty of time to complete the proxy creation. I've even completely removed VS with Revo Uninstaller and reinstalled it. No change.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am using VS Pro X4 with Windows 7 home premium, Processor Intel (R) Core (TM) i7 CPU Q820 @ 1.73GHz 1.73 GHz. 8 GB RAM. 64 bit op syst. NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M. Also I am mostly using GoPro 2 Mpeg4 files (which I have updated so I can finally use it in VS) When I am edit mode and click play back to view what I have edited prior to rendering. It often plays ok until it goes from one clip to another then it starts to play jumpy or jerky video including the sound. Which makes it impossible to see how well your edit is. If I leave it for 1/2 hour or so and come back to it, it sometimes plays fine. But then add more clips to the vid or add in a transition or effect it will then play back jerky again.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI bought the new Olympus TG-1 camera, and want to edit movies that I shoot so I downloaded trial of latest Video Studio Pro X5 to try it out. But I'm not satisfied with the quality of the rendered file. The result is not smooth. For example, I shot a short movie clip out of the window of a slow moving train. When I play the original file everything is nice and smooth, but when I import the file to Video Studio and render it (without doing anything to it, no effects or anything) the result is a stuttering movie - kind of like some frames are missing, or maybe duplicated... (Sound is just as it should, no problem there.)
Source file is .MOV (quick time) 24bits 1920x1080, 29.970 frames/sec according to file properties in Video Studio. Using GSpot i get the following: codec avc1, name H.264, 19641 kbps, 29.971 frames/sec
I've tried every format under "create video file" in Video Studio but the result is the same every time no matter what I do, although the option "Same as first video clip" is not available (it's dimmed when using clip shot with this camera). My system is PAL and I know that 29.97 fps is not PAL standard, but I also tried rendering custom format where the result was a 720x576 clip with 29.971fps (but kpbs is only 1024) but still the same stuttering movie.
I just installed VideoStudio Pro x5. After creating a few clips, I go to play the project and the preview video image studders, and plays a clip here and there, but my music plays smooth.
I have all the hardware acceleration box's checked ( there's 3 of them ). I don't know what to do, I read this is the least demanding video editing program. I also meed the minimum system requirements?
I just had my gopro take 377 pictures over a few hours (30 seconds apart) and imported them all into the timeline. What I want to do is compress all these to a time frame somewhere around 1-1:30 or so just for a short clip of clouds moving across the sky. This is easy enough to do by selecting them all and bulk changing the duration to some fraction of a second. The problem is that it was quite breezy so the movement of the tree branches from one frame to another make it more "jerky" than I want when playing back.
Is there some way to smooth this out, I was thinking a real short fade transition between each frame, but that would take a month of Sundays and I don't know if I can get the transition short enough. I tried importing with default transition to cross-fade but the transition was way too long.
I occasionally use GIMP to burn-down parts of portraits that compete with the face. For example, bare shoulder, midriff over-light, hands over-lit.
The skin ends up looking greyish, not like less-lit skin. It works not too badly visually, as the emphasis is on the face, but fails on inspection.
I have tried the burn tool and just plain old Brightness, both on a selected area.

Could I have a description of how to match the skin color of the head to the boxer's skin color?
The new CS4 skin behaves very badly for me: it doesn't refresh properly, under a variety of circumstances. Sometimes the titlebar shows the GDI skin, but the Adobe skin is the active one (so min/max/close buttons are functionally in a different location than they are visually). Today, when I go into Fullscreen with Menus mode, the menu and option bar simply grey out. Everything displays correctly in windowed mode, but not my favored mode. I try with CS4 maximized, windowed, OGL acceleration on and off. I am coming to really hate the fagility of the new skin of PS.

I currently have CS5 on a win 7 pc.
But,I couldn't figure out how to "paint back in detail" like it described, into the eyes and lips. It said something like "paint with a black brush over the blur mask to eliminate the blur in specific areas." I couldn't find a black brush; which brush is it talking about?
Also, I'd like to know how to apply this technique to just an area I've selected with the lasso tool, like her face.
I am learning how to retouch skin to achieve a more fashion, glamour look. Most online tutorials recommend using Gaussian blur and then masking the eyes. This technique is not very satisfying since details are lost completely. I have read pros dont use it ....

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow do you make things appear under a human skin? No X-ray effect, no cutting-the-skin-away-and-see-what's-underneath-it kind of thing, but just so that you see the skin formed around the thing which is underneath it. Not just like pregnancies, but that the skin in pretty tight around it, for instance with (broken) bones, big veins, some horror effect where a face appears on someone's back, etc. Also different 'deepness'es at different parts, yet still in 2D.
Obviously, the object I want to have appear underneath the skin comes from another layer as the picture of the person, the 'skin owner', who is the chosen (and probably very unlucky) one.
does anyone know how this alligator skin was made?
i'm making a sig, so i need this as a background, but i don't want it
to repeat like a pattern, rather like an actual section of an alligator skin without
the beveled look of a button, but a more rounded appearance.

So far I've tried: - Making the texture black and white and use different filters, but it doesnt work on all the different skin colours and it doesnt look real.- Using Multiply filter after adjusting the original texture - that seems to work well except on people with darker skin, then the wrinkles are just too dark. I would like to know if anyone knows a simple way where i can make this texture works on all skin colours, with out going in and adjusting the wrinkle texture one by one according to each individual.
