Photoshop :: Skin Softening
Feb 2, 2008Is there a filter in photoshop 7 that is similar to Nik Collor Efex dynamic skin softener? Something that will give the fleshtones that artistic porcelain look?

View 1 RepliesI'm a portrait photographer and when I do headshots I send around 35 images to the customer in the way of a slideshow. But I like to do a little touch up of the skin before I send them off. So I use skin softening software. I copy the main layer and do the skin softening but I bring the effect down to 70%, flatten the image and save it to a new folder. I record all this into an action. But when I play the action it ends up making that softening layer at 100% instead of 70. Is there a way to get Photoshop to recognize that I only want 70% on that layer? I'm using PS CS6 extended and Windows 7 with 16 gigs of ram.Â

View 1 Replies View Relatedwhere we could load an image in to CS3 or CS4 with smart objects, soften the image with the slider in ACR, and edit in CS3 to remove the softening on the eyes, lips, hair etc. I tried to duplicate the trick at home but never could and now that I'm doing some portraits, I could really use that capability.

I know how to select and use invert to crop the outside of the sleected area but I don't want to use a square.
I am using Photoshop CS3 Extended.
I have place layer 1 on a background.
I have cutout a picture (layer 2) and placed in on layer 1.
The edges of layer 2 are too sharpe. I want to soften the edges of layer 2 so that they merge/dissolve into layer 1.
I am sure this is a simple thing to do but ... I am trying to copy and paste or to cut and move one image onto another. For example, say the background is a scenery photo showing lots of sky. If I move a new picture or a bird flying into the sky in the background it LOOKS pasted on top. I am sure there is some way of blending the edges a tiny bit to make it look more seemless but have not suceeded in finding it yet. I can put a spot of color into the sky then soften the edges ... but not soften edges of an added image that may have multiple colors.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI occasionally use GIMP to burn-down parts of portraits that compete with the face. For example, bare shoulder, midriff over-light, hands over-lit.
The skin ends up looking greyish, not like less-lit skin. It works not too badly visually, as the emphasis is on the face, but fails on inspection.
I have tried the burn tool and just plain old Brightness, both on a selected area.

Could I have a description of how to match the skin color of the head to the boxer's skin color?
The new CS4 skin behaves very badly for me: it doesn't refresh properly, under a variety of circumstances. Sometimes the titlebar shows the GDI skin, but the Adobe skin is the active one (so min/max/close buttons are functionally in a different location than they are visually). Today, when I go into Fullscreen with Menus mode, the menu and option bar simply grey out. Everything displays correctly in windowed mode, but not my favored mode. I try with CS4 maximized, windowed, OGL acceleration on and off. I am coming to really hate the fagility of the new skin of PS.

How to even out the skin color either on PS or bridge?

I currently have CS5 on a win 7 pc.
But,I couldn't figure out how to "paint back in detail" like it described, into the eyes and lips. It said something like "paint with a black brush over the blur mask to eliminate the blur in specific areas." I couldn't find a black brush; which brush is it talking about?
Also, I'd like to know how to apply this technique to just an area I've selected with the lasso tool, like her face.
I am learning how to retouch skin to achieve a more fashion, glamour look. Most online tutorials recommend using Gaussian blur and then masking the eyes. This technique is not very satisfying since details are lost completely. I have read pros dont use it ....

How do I make a girl with skin that isnt really that smooth look like this? edit: i cant imagine her skin was like that at the time of the photo. i mean that skin is realllllllllly smooth.
How do you make things appear under a human skin? No X-ray effect, no cutting-the-skin-away-and-see-what's-underneath-it kind of thing, but just so that you see the skin formed around the thing which is underneath it. Not just like pregnancies, but that the skin in pretty tight around it, for instance with (broken) bones, big veins, some horror effect where a face appears on someone's back, etc. Also different 'deepness'es at different parts, yet still in 2D.
Obviously, the object I want to have appear underneath the skin comes from another layer as the picture of the person, the 'skin owner', who is the chosen (and probably very unlucky) one.
does anyone know how this alligator skin was made?
i'm making a sig, so i need this as a background, but i don't want it
to repeat like a pattern, rather like an actual section of an alligator skin without
the beveled look of a button, but a more rounded appearance.
how to smooth skin?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a wrinkled eye texture (see below)How do I digitally manipulate it so that i can use this same texture to on top of other photos so that it fits/blends well with people of different ethnic origins? my aim is to make poeple looking older using the same texture. So far I've tried: - Making the texture black and white and use different filters, but it doesnt work on all the different skin colours and it doesnt look real.- Using Multiply filter after adjusting the original texture - that seems to work well except on people with darker skin, then the wrinkles are just too dark. I would like to know if anyone knows a simple way where i can make this texture works on all skin colours, with out going in and adjusting the wrinkle texture one by one according to each individual.

Maybe a white guy into an asian guy or vise versa.
I recently acquired Photoshop to colorize old black & white images. While I'm quite familiar with colorization techniques, I need help with something before I get started. I scanned a lot of the images (from paper instead of photographs) I plan on using at fairly high dpis--I thought larger images allow for more manipulation--but find that nearly every second pixel has some kind of black spot on it.
I'm sure there's some technical term for this, though I'm unfamiliar with it. Anyway, does anyone know how to fix the pictures so they can be rendered more realistically? I've tried the blur tool for modest results but am looking for something better.
I've been using CS4 on my macbook pro, I have Alien Skin plug ins that I use quite a bit. Recently, after using the Alien Skin actions, CS4 shuts down if I try to use them a second time. So, I open a photo, use the Alien Skin, continue to edit, but if I decide to use Alien Skin again, it shuts down CS4.
