VideoStudio :: X4 - Clips Play For 1 Second
Apr 3, 2012All of a sudden my Videostudio X4 will not play any clip for longer then a second or two. When you play a clip or the project it plays for 1 or 2 seconds and stops just like you hit the stop or pause button. Click play again and it does the same thing. Makes it really impossible to edit. It had been working great up until last week. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still have the same problem. I have excluded my anti virus from scanning the Corel folder.

VideoStudio :: Cannot Play Project From Mid Way Using Scrubber
Dec 6, 2011I have been creating a project for some time which contains a lot of video clips.Every now and then I position the 'scrubber' mid way along and click on the 'play' button to check what the effect is at the place I am editing.
Today after adding some more video clips to the end of the project and editing them when I place the 'scrubber' where the clips are that I have been editing and click on 'play' to see the effect instead of VS 'paying' my video from the position the scrubber was placed at it moves the scrubber to the start of the project and plays from the beginning. It was not doing that yesterday (I have added some more clips to the end of the project since then and editing them).This is VERY annoying as I cannot check to see what parts of the movie (project) look like without playing from the start of the project (30 minutes in length).
VideoStudio :: Project Preview Won't Play Smooth - It Stutters
Apr 10, 2012I just installed VideoStudio Pro x5. After creating a few clips, I go to play the project and the preview video image studders, and plays a clip here and there, but my music plays smooth.
I have all the hardware acceleration box's checked ( there's 3 of them ). I don't know what to do, I read this is the least demanding video editing program. I also meed the minimum system requirements?

Nov 10, 2010I made a complex video clip from .avi files with Corel Videostudio Pro X3, I saved the project then moved my original files to different folder. After some time I decided I want to edit my video again and re-linked the files successfully but now when I try to play my project in edit mode it doesn't play smoothly, it stops and delays. I can't edit in such conditions because I can't preview my work... Before moving my files everything was fine. No changes were made to my computer...

The original videos were imported to Correl from video files downloaded from the internet. Some of them are MPEG and others are AVI. It seems that the MPEG files play fine while the AVI files are slow. Not sure why this is since I created another very similar project and the AVI files in that project played back fine.

Jan 20, 2012Problem I was having was using clips of various sizes and properties in the same project. Original entry follows below.
I have a new system (see my profile) that I think should work with Pro X4 just great.
However, I had some AVI videos I tried to edit. I could not get frame resolution in the time line, as I remembered getting with older Corel products editing MPEG files.
Nevertheless, I was able to edit AVI and get good results as long as the AVI files did not have sound. When I tried to edit AVI with sound, preview was unusable. The transitions got lost during the preview, and the sound dropped out around cuts and splices and transitions.
Needless to say, editing did not go well without a decent preview. Are these artifacts of trying to edit AVI files, or is there something else amiss? Should I be capturing in MPEG or some format other than AVI?
The following settings seemed to get the best preview results, but I still had sound drop outs around cuts, splices, and transitions (which are splices). I expected the sound to x-fade around transitions.
NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 6000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 384 kbps

I set the project to MPEG, even though the source was AVI, because it seemed to improve the preview response time a bit, but not enough to make a real difference.
VideoStudio :: X5 - Editing Volume Difference Between PROJECT And CLIP Play
Aug 16, 2012I purchased VideoStudio X5 for HD editing of .MTS clips from my Panasonic HS700 video camera. I transfer the clips to my hard drive using explorer and then use the X5 program to bring them into the library and then to the timeline. Due to my volume problem I re-downloaded VSX5, reinstalled it and installed SP1 patch, updated my Video Card Driver to the latest, updated Direct X and made sure my Microsoft Updates are all up to date.
My Volume problem is, during the editing proces you use both the Project playback and also individual clip playback. Without any manual changes to clip volume, when I play an individual clip the volume is substatially higher than when I play the project over the same clip area. This is annoying to me and those nearby. Earlier versions of VS did not do this.
If I change the individual clip volume up or down from 100% then when I play either the project or individual clip the volume remains the same (ie.it is no longer louder in clip mode).

Nov 20, 2012I'm working on a project that pulls together many short clips from many much longer video files e.g. there might be less than a minute pulled from a 60 minute file then another then another etc. I found that my computer (which is reasonably beefy) was struggling to cope with the workload so I split the project into separate project files i.e. Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. My thinking was that once I had done all the editing I could cut and paste all the clips into a single new project file before rendering the entire thing. But I can't work out how to do it! Sure, I can copy and past individual clips or even a sequence of clips but on pasting they lose all the editing I've done! I just end up with a uniform bunch of unedited clips!
I guess the alternative is to render each project file (1, 2 and 3) separately then pull the rendered videos together into Project 4. I can then render Project 4 to give me my final 'movie'. But surely that means as I've rendered everything twice I'm suffering a quality loss?
So the question is: is there any way of copying edited video clips from one project file into another project file AND retaining all the edits?

Nov 5, 2010I have previously created a project using avi files and successfully burnt a dvd. Now when I reload the project all the AVI clips on the timeline are "unreadable" (black and white horizontal bands) yet they have not been moved from their original folder and all clips are visible on under "video" on the "edit" page. I have even tried relinking but to no avail. All the clips still play perfectly on Media player.

Dec 30, 2013I've made a project in Premiere Pro CS6 with greenscreen footage from a canon XF100 (MXF file).
When I open the project in Premiere Pro CC I can scrub throught the timeline everything is oke.
But playing or rendering the timeline, gives me only the bottom half of the greescreen footage. I see that in Premiere CC the clip with the footage becomes gray after putting an effect on it. When I do this process from the start in CC it works fine. But there are 52 timelines in the project made in CS6.

Nov 17, 2012I'm making some music videos, and I thought I'd get the best audio quality using .WAV files instead of MP3 files. Trouble is, when I load a .WAV into my audio track, all I get is a bunch of noise and loud hiss. An MP3 file works just fine. If I play the "clip" in the preview window, each file will play just fine, but the problem shows itself when I play the "project" in the preview window. May 22, 2013I have found that the program Videostudio x5 does not play MPG formats.
When using SHARE-Custom-MPG the program renders the video, then displays a general error message and closes the program.
It seems to play AVI, MOV, MP4, WMV, Webm, UIS formats.
Other players work - ie. VLC , Media Player Classic and DIV-X. A black screen is shown in WIN DVD silver.
I have loaded H-Lite 9.90 , FFDSHOW and Windows 8 codecs, but this made no difference.
I have downloaded and installed Videostudio X6 as a trial, but this made no difference either

VideoStudio :: DVD Won't Play On Pioneer Player
Oct 21, 2013I have an SD Pioneer dvd player...model dv-49av. It plays all commercial DVD fine, but never a DVD I burn from VS. However, any DVD I burn from Corel plays perfectly in my Pioneer 23fd bluray player.
Anything I can do to change this? The disk type (-r, +r etc.) doesn't matter and the DVD that won't play plays fine on the computer. The disk loads fine, but when I select play the video or chapter it just locks up and I have to restart the player.

May 17, 2011Having produced my first video production on VS4 I made several copies on DVD but I have been unable to get any of those DVD copies to play properly on most DVD players. They all behave differently on on Different players, on some players they won't even start, some will start and play part of the way through before playing up. All copies behave differently on different players. I have been able to get most copies to play properly on my computer.

Aug 25, 2012...adding effects in VS x5 pro. I just downloaded the trial after upgrading to a new laptop running windows 7 and was told I could not use my videostudio 11 or moviefactory 6 plus. So I have video that I imported from my SDHC card in high def, it played fine until I started adding a crossfade and a couple of slow motions. Now, every video had no sound. I have tried deleting them and bring them back in, but still no sound. It will play music over the tracks, but I have lost all my original sound. I thought I would be able to add some music and lower the original soundtrack at certain points, letting it fade in and fade out, allowing for the original audio to play through and along with the music. I am pretty dissapointed right now and need some answers. Also what happened to the moving menus? I am confused with the templates as well... begininng, middle end or complete. Is that instead of moving menus? Can I not make a moving thumbnail menu with music and chapters?

Jan 14, 2012I download avi files and then edit them in Videostudio X4. THe avi's are always from different resolutions and framerate.
When i play the converted or edited avi files on my mediaplayer on a Widescreen tv then the video is played may time not full screen. Sometimes it is on top and sides filled with black borders.
I would like the video's always be full screen on tv (off course with good quality).
My question is: how can i see in Videostudio if the video can be played full screen on tv?
Let's say i have 2 video's: divx / xvid 576 x 320 at 25.000 fpsec and 512 x 384 at 188.900 at 25.000 frames per second. Would these files be played full screen on the tv?. How can i calculate that it is 4:3 or 16:9 and what must the preference be in Video studio itself: 16:9 or 4:3?
